What's your issue with her?
She’s too political. I’ve heard she discriminates white people for tv shows. And besides, Disney can’t afford to have another political CEO at Disney. I’m sorry, but I don’t trust her and I’m trusting my gut.

Interesting article out of Fortune today, as Mayer lays out his vision of the next Disney CEO -

This is the ex Disney exec that left for greener pastures to be CEO at Tik Tok only to be fired 3 months later. Prior to Disney he was an exec for Playboy. He probably experienced a fun time with the playmates at the Playboy Mansion.

And while you were looking up his bio you forgot to mention he was only at Playboy for 8 months, leaving there to become CEO of Clear Channel Interactive. So not sure your point. Also was he really fired from Tiktok or did he decide to step down due to pressure from the Administration at the time surrounding parent company ByteDance.

Anyways he has spent most of his career at Disney in one form or another. Personally I think he is better suited to be CEO than many of the other rumored candidates, but that is just my opinion.

He flip flops, worked at Disney then left for greener pastures , went back to Disney , left Disney again to go to Tik Tok fired at Tik Tok 3 months later , started a company with Staggs, both resigned later then started another company with Staggs. You don't think before he took the Tik Tok job he knew he was not going into a minefield?

That is not typically the definition of flip flop. But nonetheless just because he has moved a bunch doesn't mean he isn't suited for the job.

Anyways not our decision, we're just spectators.

I haven't listen to those Disney hating douchebags for quite a long time. Nonetheless, I don't know if I want to trust Dana Walden. I think Kevin Mayer is a better choice. And maybe he can partner with Tom Staggs as his co ceo so we can have another Walt and Roy and Eisner and Wells.
First, there is no reason for name calling.

Second, whether its Mayer, Staggs, Walden, or whomever, its not up to us. We don't get a choice in the matter. Its the Board of Directors that will decide who the next CEO will be. We're just spectators in this. We can have opinions, but our opinions aren't going to amount to anything, we get no input.

So it doesn't matter if you don't trust Walden, if she is who the Board picks, then she'll be the next CEO.

Fine, just be thankful I'm not being doom and gloom recently!

Are YouTubers making deepfakes of her making her say words she never said? Because some of the more troubling things I’ve read have been in written interviews.
The anti-Disney/anti-Hollywood YouTubers tend to take things said out of context to rile up their followers. Without getting into specifics none of what she said that I’ve seen is all that political in my opinion.

There’s nothing political about what she said. I agree: I’ve read the interview.

What her comments evidence is a close-mindedness based on race and ethnicity, which is even worse.

I disagree as there is nothing wrong with making sure all voices are heard in Hollywood. If that means some “traditional” stories get passed on so be it. If they are worth telling they will find a home, plenty of places now where stories can be told.

But to each their own.

Despite your own closemindedness, you seem to have a more open mind than Walden. She expressly said that she passed on great scripts because the cast didn’t meet some racial/ethnic standard she had set. There’s no indication those stories found a home - if they did, it wasn’t at Disney.

She also said she did so as those projects she approved were what the audience wanted. It seems her gauge of this has been clouded, so maybe she should let someone else greenlight projects.

I’m not close minded at all, I’m open to all types of stories being told. But if under represented voices are being silenced just so more “traditional” stories can be told, well that I’m against.

As an exec unfortunately there is only so many projects that can be greenlit, and well sometimes you have to prioritize things based on criteria.

You’re conflating “traditional” stories with certain immutable aspects of the characters. You could tell a non-traditional story with white characters, or a “traditional” story with a multiethnic cast. It seems she’s passing on great stories unless the characters are diverse, which strikes me as wrong.

Under that standard, Walden could be missing out on the next Sopranos. Which would be ironic, as she (or her company at the time) passed on it originally:
