your most memorable disney memory

Can't say this is my *most* memorable, but...

I remember the evening fireworks at Epcot, 1986, and the joyful freedom of being able to walk around at night as a child. Buying lighted sun visors, and other glow in the dark knick-knacks... Watching the lit fountain in front of France...

I still like to see the France pavillion at night just to try to reconjure that magical evening over 20 years ago.

Memories!!!

On the first morning of our last trip (after a LONG drive from Tennessee) My sweetie and I checked into our resort and headed over to MK while we waited for our room to be ready. Something was weird all that morning...while listening to the usual line up of parade music and movie songs in the car, he started crying when Promise from Illuminations came on... this song always makes me cry, but...this time we were both balling. Anyway... we get to the park, ride our favorites and then he decides it'd be great (since we were new pin junkies) to split up, buy each other a pin, and trade them over breakfast... I run down to the Emporium and he lingered a minute and then went his way. We met back up at Partners for our usual "just drove all night to get here, this is our first pic in our dirty clothes" pic in front of the castle. He was squirming a bit while we waiting our turn with the lucky photo-pass photographer, but...I thought he was just ready to get on with our day....oh boy was that true.
As we stepped up to the statue and assumed our pose, he dropped to one knee and said a phrase that I told him I never wanted to hear again, unless it was with a ring in hand..... "You know I love you, right?" I FROZE!!! My brain went numb, I stopped breathing. He started crying again and shaking even more. It's all a blur because I was so dumbstruck but he asked me to marry him! WOO HOO! I think I said yes, or atleast conveyed that I wanted to, because he slipped the ring on my finger and we hugged for what felt like hours. I gotta tell ya... the photographer had NO clue, and we got some amazing pics... some dozen or so.
I will NEVER forget the day my prince made my dreams come true!!!
:) :) :)

My most memorable Disney had nothing to do with me it was something I witnessed. I was dining at Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge. There was an older couple sitting at the table behind me. A lady came in and I heard her say to the couple. "shes in the bathroom and she has no idea"

A few seconds later I heard this little girl scream "Pap-pap, Grandma" and run past my table. She was maybe 6 or 7. She started crying, the grandparents, parents, waitress were crying. I started crying(yes I am a big baby). The mother smiled at us and apologized for the ruckus. She added that she has not seen her grandparents in a few years since the family moved away from them. She just sat in he Pap-Paps lap and would not let go of him. It was so magic it just made the trip.

The hubby and I looooove to watch and listen to children when we are at WDW. We have boys so the little princesses get us all giggly all the time. I worry that we'll frighten parents by paying attention to their children but we just can't help ourselves. It's so magical to see the little ones. Even our sons like to see how toddlers react to the characters. :)

Love, love, loooove this thread!

Even though this was probably my 6th time reading this thread, my desk is littered with tissues :)

I have been 7 times in the past 5 years, and every moment has had something special. Probably, the most memorable experience trip was my most recent one, the one that I went on with my boyfriend. My boyfriend is a very logical, level-headed person. He hates corporations and globalization, and yada yada yada. Anyhow, for a long time, he thought that Disney was an evil company and it was all a gimick and I was a marketing tool. (I know, what was I thinking when I got involved with him?!?!?!:ROFLOL:) Anyhow, he had only been a couple of times, and had never really experienced it with a disney freak. So, I planned a trip this past august, and it was amazing. Upon arriving to the airport and getting in line for the Magical Express buses, I was already excited beyond belief. I told him "Can't you see that this is already different than anything else in the world?" He started understanding!
The absolutely most magical part was when we went to MK. (great, I'm blubbering already) and it started raining horribly. We didn't have ponchos, but I am a huge fan of the rain and it was deserted (it was also thundering and lightening) because everyone was hiding inside buildings. We ended up running through MK, just fooling around and splashing each other in the puddles. Honestly, we were the only ones on the pathways. It was like he was a three year old! We ended up running through the castle in order to get back, and he stopped me momentarily as we were under the castle, and gave me a huge kiss. It was a dream that I have always had that I told him about when we first started dating :D. I was so happy. The rest of the day was great too, but nothing can compare to that kiss.

On a side note, he is FULLY converted. He sends me random text messages in the middle of the night asking when we can go again, and sometimes when we're in his car, he and I will either sing a duet of the Tiki Tiki Tiki Room or Imagination :)

Darn, now I have to compose myself:cry:

Thanks so much for reposting this! I don't know how I missed it the first time. These stories are so beautiful.

Disney fans often get a bad rep. I'm not sure if it's the (unfortunately) outdated family values, or the fact that we don't live in such a magical world anymore where people are ready to give creative way to the unexplainable.

Personally, even though I'm kind of new to Disney World I've experienced so many things there. I was on Main Street when my boyfriends cell phone rang telling him he was promoted to a great job at work. I had my very first trip only a week before I started my first REAL journalism job. I learned the value and meaning of true friends and family.
Most importantly for me, I'm an orphan- and while I was never able to go to WDW with my mom, I remembered her stories and her favorites and going on those rides, though probably not the same seats, or cast members, or anything, but feeling the same experiences she had, is the best gift I could ever receive. And from that first trip on, I cry every time I see the Magic Kingdom gates, and every time I leave.

And it is really great not being alone in these type of feelings. Thank you all.

I'm sure that there's a LOT more memorable memories on here after the recent Celebration 25 Epcot's Anniversary. I know that the walk back to the front gate that night with all the "Epcot Warriors" would be something I will remember forever.

First Trip

My most memorable moment was walking into the Magic Kingdom and seeing Cindy's Castle for the first time. It was a moving experience for me. And it gets better every time we go!

I have three more from my most recent trip in October.

The first is getting on the bus at Pop to go to Epcot and not only did the bus driver wish me "Happy Birthday" He got everyone on the bus to sing to me.

The second is having breakfast in Cinderella's Castle for my birthday. It was actually a week before my birthday, but being there to celebrate was like a dream. The waitress brought out a little cake for me after we were done eating & I was once again sung to.

The last is "converting" my mom to be a big of a Disney freak a I am. She has, without any influence from me, decided to plan a trip for the first week in January before I go back to school after Christmas.

I know I'm always going to be creating new Disney memories every time I go, no matter who I'm with.

I, too, have made many trips to WDW, and have quite a few memories. There are 2 recent ones that really stick out:

1. Sept '06- think it's called Magical Beginnings where they opened Fantasyland an hour early for only people with kids. My wife and then 8 yr old daughter head one way. I head the other with the 3 yr old neice that we had with us. The neice runs up to Goofy, and he holds her hand and walks her over from near Peter Pan's Flight all the way to Pooh's playground where Pooh and Tigger were waiting to give her hugs.
At about the exact moment Pooh is hugging the neice, the wife finds me and tells me I need to come see. I walk over to where she pointed me to, and there is my daughter riding Dumbo with her favorite character, Stitch, riding with her! He kept fighting over the controls with her in true Stitch character.

2. July '04- back when you had to pay to stay in the parks for the 3 extra hours, my daughter, then 6, was excited once the parks closed to people without the wristbands. Park was pretty empty, could walk on all rides practically. Well, she and I stayed there the full 3 hours and that last hour, we rode her favorite ride, Space Mountain, 5 times in a hour!

P.S. This thread is great!

You made me remember something important.

I, too, got a cell phone call in WDW that changed my world! I was in EPCOT walking through the gardens in China in front of the ROE building and my cell phone rang. It was my cousin calling. After years of trying she just found out she was pregnant! :sohappy: I was so happy for her! I think I 'floated' all day - I was in Disney with my sis and my Mom and I knew my "other sis" was on top of the World! YAY!

And her boy is 3-1/2 right now and he is just so awesome! :)

One of my favorite Disney memories has to be when my studio danced in the Magic Kingdom for Disney's Magic Music Days. Our studio has been there 4 times and has done 7 shows...with one performance coming up next year! The day of the show it's 89º and humid, with lights beating down on us. We performed our show, and it couldn't have went better. After the show, my friends and I just stood in a circle backstage and our eyes all welled up with tears. It was such an amazing feeling to perform for the world. Also, we had a Fantasmic/dessert party with priority seating only for us! It was amazing. Afterwards, we all raced to TOT and RNRC and filled up a whole cart and limo! Then we headed over to New York street, (since then we've lost a lot) and it was only my 5 frds. and me. While walking down NY Street, my fav. Christmas song comes on and it starts snowing. There was no one else on the street besides us, so we were singing and dancing and taking in the whole night. We closed MGM that night. It was an amazing trip. :)

Wow, this has made me laugh hysterically and bawl uncontrollably! These stories have made my day!

My favorite memory at WDW has to be during my trip last summer. It was the first time my entire family had gone to Disney, and my 19-year-old brother was a little skeptical. He was sure that everything would be geared towards little kids and that he'd be really bored. The second he saw Cinderella's castle, however, he flashed a grin at me, a grin that I hadn't seen in a really long time. Even better, a few days later we went to MGM. As we were walking through the park, the door of some wharehouse opened and out walked Stitch! See, Stitch is the only Disney character my brother has ever really liked, so when he saw the giant blue alien, he ran straight towards him and grabbed onto his arm. His face lit up entirely, and you could just see the magic that was Disney had finally hit him. The lady that was escorting Stitch wouldn't let us take pictures with him until he was at his scheduled place so we got to follow Stitch throughout the park as if we were in a mini-parade. Kids watched excitedly us as we passed by, and everyone was pointing and smiling at us as we trailed him. Then we finally got our pictures with Stitch in front of some really beautiful trees. I never thought I'd see my brother, who has believed that he is too cool to smile for the past seven years, be that happy again! It was as if all the joy of childhood came flooding back to him!

By the time we left WDW, my brother had joyously ridden nearly every ride at all four parks and both water parks, had memorized the names of all of the the Disney princesses, and had decided we absolutely had to return as soon as possible. It was truly amazing!:sohappy:

2 most memorable moments

Of course, getting engaged at Partners will always be #1 on my list... I was recently reminded of the single funniest moment at the world... EVER...

Remember the character spires on top of the castle? Well.. for some reason My fiance, his then 10yr old DS, and I couldn't seem to find the correct angle to figure out what King Louie was. All we could figure is that for someone funny reason, they put a pregnant basketball with 4 arms up there for an added giggle factor. Well, DS pipes up one afternoon that it looked like a "Socialist without a head". I laughed so hard I had to find a little princesses room to keep from having an accident. I asked him if he knew what a socialist was... his reply (I kid you not) was "I have no clue what a socialist is, but, I figure that's what one would look like if he didn't have a head."

Bingo. Best Trip Evar. Especially my four random brushes with greatness...

Signing in imagineer Alex Wright to the event (and he actually remembered me from my Dining with an Imagineer from a couple of years back *squeals like a little girl*).

Running into Charlie Ridgway before opening on Sunday.

Randomly bumping into Marty Sklar at what's left of Wonders of Life.

Randomly running into Disney archivist Dave Smith near the Mexico pavilion.

Putting faces to screennames, hanging out with friendly folks who "get it," and having waaaaaaay too many sing-alongs.

*sigh* can we do it again tomorrow?

That is totally funny! As a little kid I had a brush with using a word that I did not understand but it is so bad I can't post it here. I really wish I could because it is TOO funny!

And regarding Celebration 25:

Yeah putting faces to screen names was great. There are so many wonderful people on WDWMagic. I'm not kidding. We need to have more meets. They don't have to be on the scale of C-25, we just all need to get together. I was impressed that I am not the only complete dork around here.
