Trip Report When in Disney! June 2015 Trip Report

Day 1: June 7, 2015

Though I'm not happy about it, we're home from an absolutely magical trip to the World! This was the best trip to Disney that I've ever had, hands down. So of course I must share every last detail with all of you. If you didn't read my PTR and would like to, you can find it here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/were-baaaaack-june-2015-trip.896231/

I mentioned in my PTR that Heather had dyed her hair and would be appearing as a brunette in my actual TR.. Just kidding. She went back to blonde 2 days before we left. :hilarious:

One more thing.. my camera takes horrible quality pictures, so I'll apologize for that in advance. I have an iPhone 5, so it does okay. Our PhotoPass ones are good though.

Okay, enough with the intros.. Let's get on with the fun stuff, shallllll we? :D

Our flight left at 6:30pm on June 7th, so we planned to leave my house by 2pm to make sure we had plenty of time to get there, check in, etc. Fortunately, the airline that we fly is out of it's own little airport with only one gate, so getting through security literally takes 3 minutes. I say this because we didn't actually leave until after 3pm. We went to the Taylor Swift concert in Pittsburgh the night before, so we were slightly rushed in finishing up our packing and of course, showing our hundreds of pictures to my mom before we left. I won't make you look at ALL of them, but here's a few.

11401383_114586885542052_4205874523807338426_n.jpg

She was FANTASTIC. I can't even express how awesome she was. We're thinking of seeing her again this fall when she's in Ohio. Fingers crossed. :inlove:

Anyhow, let's get back to Disney. Ready to roll!

IMG_7254.JPG

Like I said, we were on the road a little after 3pm, and Heather realizes that she forgot her glow necklaces. These are essential for every viewing of Wishes, Fantasmic!, and Illuminations. Right? Maybe that's just us. So we had to make a pitstop at her house, which is fortunately not far from mine, to grab those. Glow necklaces in hand, we made our second attempt to get to the airport. We're a disaster.

Now we're cruising along, Disney music blaring, singing obnoxiously. And then I realized something slightly problematic. The conversation went something like this:

Me- Hez.. I'm pretty sure I forgot my shorts.
Heather- Like how sure?
Me- 99%. I put them in the dryer and I feel quite sure that they're still there. That gives me 2 pairs of pants for the week… including the ones I'm wearing.

Naturally, Heather is laughing hysterically. Literally a disaster.

So our flight leaves at 6:26pm.. we rolled into JC Penney at 5:03pm. It's highly likely that people thought we were stealing stuff because I know for a fact that we looked completely crazed lol. So we're running through the store, looking for jean shorts that I'm satisfied with. Do you think they had anything in my size? Nope. We finally found a pair that would do, so I grabbed 3 sizes, took off for the fitting rooms, and was back out within a couple of minutes. I've never before gotten overheated from trying on clothes. :hilarious: I actually hate the shorts that I got. They have these weird gems all over the back pockets and are just weird- my exact words in my notes from the trip are, "No cute shorts- I will now have a bedazzled butt for the week." Hahaha. We were just a little giddy and slightly sleep deprived. Don't judge us.

So now I had an additional pair of pants and we finished the drive to the airport, getting there around 5:30pm. I truly wish you could have seen us trying to get our suitcase (we shared because you have to pay to check a bag with our airline) out of the car and then hauling it, along with our obnoxiously large carry-ons, through the parking lot.

I went to the kiosk to print our boarding passes and told Heather to throw our bag on the scale to make sure it wasn't too heavy (40 lb. is the limit). So she comes over and informs me that we're at 42 lb. and starts moving things to her carry-on. We weigh it again and are down to 38 lb., so she decides to put a few things back in the suitcase. Weigh again- now we're at 40.36 lb. If looks could kill, mine would have dropped her right then and there. We finally got it down to 39.68 lb. and I drug it toward the check-in counter before she could try again. She swears up and down that it was too heavy because her shirt was cotton- yep, that has to be it Hez.

Because we were cutting it close to boarding time, the kiosk wouldn't assign us seats so somebody at the desk had to help us. She told us that there weren't any seats left together and was SO dramatic about it. She kept repeating herself and then would just stare at us, and of course I just kept saying, "That's fine." She eventually did get us together, but when we walked away I looked at Heather and said, "We can't sit together? That's it. I'm not going." And dramatically stormed off. She appreciated the theatrics. Not sure what the lady expected us to say.. so weird.

IMG_7255.JPG

Finally on the plane- together. ;) Peace out PA, Disney here we come! Our flight was pretty uneventful. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for an open gate when we landed at MCO, but no worries. It was 8:30ish when we arrived.

I was honestly SO excited to ride the Magical Express. Like, skipping through the airport excited. Surprised a video hasn't surfaced of the crazy 22 year old acting like a child. No regrets.

FOUND IT.:D

IMG_1317.JPG

First time of the trip!!! A little blurry.. Sorry, I was excited.
IMG_7259.JPG

Pure joy :hilarious:
IMG_7260.JPG

IMG_1318.jpg

IMG_1319.JPG

We waited in line about 10 minutes, and then another 20 minutes once we boarded. So you know what that means…

MAGICAL EXPRESS SELFIE! Actually, we call it an "ussie," but to each their own. Look at Heather with her seatbelt on hahaha. She took it off before we pulled out because nobody else was wearing it. :hilarious:
IMG_7262.jpg

We finally got going and watched the little welcome video to keep ourselves entertained. I also killed it on Disney trivia. :bookworm: We made stops at Coronado Springs, All Star Sports, and then All Star Music (our stop). All Star Movies was the last stop- keeping that in mind for future trips.

Day 2: June 7, 2015 - Part 2

We got to the resort around 10pm and had done online check-in, so were able to go straight to our room.

I was obsessed with the balloon arches. It's the little things…
IMG_1358.JPG

I Snapchatted this picture to a non-Disney freak friend of mine (he really is a fantastic person, aside from that tiny flaw ;)) and he made fun of me for my tablet, pen, and book bag. I believe his exact words were, "You're such a nerd, and are the only person I know that plans every minute of vacation." RUDE. How would I be able to write a trip report without these essentials? :)
IMG_7263.JPG

Like I said, we had done online check-in- great! Right? Wrong. See, neither of us are highly skilled in reading maps. So although I had the resort pulled up on my phone, we somehow managed to walk around aimlessly for a good 15 minutes and end up at All Star Sports.:hilarious: I don't recommend arriving to a resort you've never stayed at before after dark and then trying to find your room. Have I mentioned that we're a disaster?

We eventually found our building- we stayed in Broadway. I thought our room was great- It showed a little wear and tear, but it was clean and perfect for all the more time we spent there.

IMG_1322.JPG

It's not a true TR without this picture. :)
IMG_1323.JPG

I'm obsessed with this table. I want one.
IMG_1321.JPG

IMG_1327.jpg

IMG_1325.jpg

Ugh, looking at these pictures makes we want to go back. :arghh:

We put our stuff in the room and then headed for the food court. I bought one of the refillable mugs and I'm definitely glad that I did. I think they're totally worth it. Heather doesn't drink pop so didn't think it would be worth it for her to get one. The food prices at Disney never fail to slap you in the face the first day- jeesh! We both had fettuccine with alfredo sauce.. I had chicken with mine and Heather had shrimp. Seriously- SO YUMMY. I didn't expect much, being that it's a food court. But wow, we were really impressed. They didn't give us much pasta, but the size of my piece of chicken made up for it. We had to get Mickey ice cream too. :p

IMG_1328.JPG

After we finished eating, we walked around and checked out the pools. The piano pool was literally right outside our building, so that was nice. When we walked past the main pool, we saw this lady trying to round up her little one. Totally normal. Then she bends over to pick something up and we get a glimpse of the towel she has wrapped around her waist. It had a Playboy bunny on it- are you freaking kidding me!? You are at Disney! We literally had tears rolling down our faces from laughing so hard, but oh my gosh. People amaze me.

We made our way back to the room and started unpacking. The good news is this: I had actually packed more shorts than I had originally thought, so I didn't have to make 3 pairs last the entire week. I realize that there are washers/dryers at the resorts, but who has time for laundry at Disney!?

ME brought our luggage around midnight. Not having to worry about picking your luggage up at the airport is AWESOME. But it is kind of inconvenient to have to stay up waiting on them to bring it. I guess it wouldn't be bad if you had an earlier flight. Oh well- we were on Cloud 9! We were off to Magic Kingdom bright and early for an 8:10am ADR at Crystal Palace! :D

Loving your report.. it reminds me of my trips to Disney with my best friend.. :( Oh the withdrawl!!

Love your details, and man you are brave getting to the airport so close to boarding time! I have horrible anxiety at airports! When I was coming home from Costa Rica my suitcase ended up weighing so much more than when I had left NJ. And I had all my souvenirs in my carry-on! It didn't make any sense to me but I started ripping through my bag and pulling out bathing suits and underwear. Talk about embarrassing. :banghead: Then ended up losing my passport somewhere in all my junk and couldn't get through Customs until I found it. You are brave and I admire your nonchalance at the airport!

Thanks for the tip on trying to know where you're going when you need to find your room in the dark. I want to arrive at night for my next trip to try and change it up and this seems like useful advice! I'm always lost.. LOL

Thanks for sharing :)

Disney with your best friend is the best thing ever!! We can't wait for the next trip. :) I probably would have been a little more stressed out if we were flying out of the international airport because you never know what sort of issues you're gonna run into there. But our little airport is usually pretty easy to deal with. I literally laughed out loud picturing you shoving stuff into your carry-on. :hilarious:

I get lost SO easily, but I didn't worry too much about finding our room because I figured there would be signs everywhere. There were not - lol.

Thanks for following! :)

Day 2: June 8, 2015

We woke up bright and early Monday morning, and let me tell you.. Monday's are MUCH happier when in Disney. :) My alarm went off (Circle of Life was the chosen tone for the week ) and I literally sat up in bed with the biggest smile on my face, lol. SO EXCITED. I considered singing the Good Morning welcome show song, but refrained so Heather didn't harm me. :angelic: We were out of the room by 7:10am and headed to the bus stop. Our bus left promptly at 7:15am and had us at Magic Kingdom by 7:30am. It was nice to be up before the crowds and made our commute much less time consuming. Not to mention getting a seat on the bus…

My face looked somewhat like this :D when I saw the top of the castle. There honestly is no feeling that even compares to seeing that for the first time of the trip. We made our way through bag check, scanned our Magic Bands, and pushed through the EMH crowd to get to the entrance. I asked the CM standing there if we could go in, as we had 8:10am reservations at Crystal Palace. She informed us, in a not-so-Disney way, that we couldn't get into the park until 7:45am because our reservations were after 8am. I didn't even know that was a thing. I'd also like to mention that it was 7:42am when I spoke to her. o_O So then I was extremely frustrated because there is only one reason anybody chooses to get up that early and pay that much money for breakfast - NO CROWD CASTLE PICTURES. Ugh.

So anyhow, we watched the welcome show (which I adore) and counted down to park opening. It was neat to be at the front of the pack, regardless of the fact that we should have already been at the end of Main Street by the time everyone else was let in. The CM's escorted us to the end of Main Street and then off went the masses toward Fantasyland. Heather and I seized the opportunity to take low crowd castle pictures.. which is the next best thing to no crowd castle pictures. I'm just a little bitter. :cautious:

I'M HOME! :inlove:
IMG_7269.jpg

That, my friends, is what pure joy looks like. Take me backkkkkkk. :arghh:

Castle selfie! :D Should have brought my selfie stick...
IMG_7268.JPG

This PhotoPass photographer knows what's up. No people ruining our shot. :p Look at those shorts.. too bad you can't see the bedazzled parts...
MK_MSBRCART_7341801483.jpeg

This is probably my favorite picture of us from the entire trip. Disney with my best friend… my face says it all. :)
MK_MSBRCART_7341801485.jpeg

Photo shoot #1 finished, we headed over to Crystal Palace and checked in around 7:55am. They gave us one of these bad boys and told us we'd be called when our table was ready.

IMG_1334.jpg

I think this restaurant is absolutely beautiful.. the perfect blue skies just add to the effect. :)
IMG_1330.JPG

IMG_1331.JPG

IMG_1332.JPG

IMG_1333.JPG

We have this thing when we go to public venues where we look for families who, as we like to put it, "have it together." You know, mom and dad are controlling the kids, the kids are dressed appropriately (for their age and the weather), everybody's wearing comfortable shoes, etc. It entertains us probably more than what it should, but it never ceases to amaze me how many families don't "have it together."

We talked to this family while we waited who did indeed have it together. ;) There were 3 boys and a girl, all under the age of I'd say 10. God bless those parents. But the kids were well behaved and sweet, so we really enjoyed them. We commented on how cute the little girl's outfit was (a dress and then she had legging-style pants on underneath) and the mom told us that she had put the pants on under her dress because she didn't want her to be cold early in the morning, but she knew it would get really hot as the day went on. So then she could take the pants off and she'd just wear her dress. A+ parenting my friends. Oh how I wish all parents had that sort of logic and preparation.

So anyhow, we were called in and seated around 8:10am. I loved how bright and airy it is inside, and also how open it seems. A lot of character meals are overcrowded, IMO, and you feel like you're sitting on top of the people next to you. Not the case here!

This sign makes my teacher heart smile - reminds me of my kiddos and their "best guess spelling." :inlove:

Heather and I have a lot of "quirks" we shall call them. One of those quirks is the fact that we love British accents- lol. So when our waitress, Lisa, came over and asked if she could get us some juice in the most adorable British accent EVER, I imagine my face looked something like this :joyfull:. Yes, yes you can!!!!

We just loved her. She kept our drinks full, constantly checked on us to make sure we didn't need anything, and made recommendations on the things we had to try. She saw me writing notes for this TR and got so excited.. she told us she came to the US when she was young and her mom always told her that she should keep a journal so she didn't forget things, but she never actually did it. She went on and on about how good of an idea it was for me to write down all of my memories from the trip - so cute lol.

When we took this picture she said, "Oh you girls are making me feel so special! I feel like I need to run in the back and put my lip gloss on." Such a sweetheart!! There was another waiter who checked up on us every so often, Michael Jay, and he was also awesome! He told us a really funny story about two older ladies and their goal to drink around the world at Epcot.. I love when CM's take the time to actually talk to you. It really does make the Disney experience that much better.
IMG_7286.jpg

Lisa told us that we had a few minutes before the first character came, so we made our way up to the buffet. I'm in the middle of loading up my plate and I hear, "Excuse me, what's your name?" I turned and said, "Brittany…" Lol still a little confused at this point. And then realized in the same second he told me who he was - hi @Billy6!!! :D We did some introductions and talked for a minute before turning our attention back to the food. It was so neat to meet somebody from the forums in real life! I still can't believe it worked out the way that it did. He gave me permission to say all kinds of bad things about him in my TR, but I suppose I'll refrain. ;)

The moment you've all been waiting for…
IMG_1337.JPG

The stuffed French Toast was literally to die for. Oh my gosh. So good. I'm a little upset that I didn't think to move things around so my Mickey waffles were visible in this picture. :( You can see his ears a little bit!

So we sat enjoying our food while we waited for the characters to come around. All of a sudden, this boy.. probably about 9 or so.. that was sitting behind us comes RUNNING back to his table, plate overflowing with food. As he's doing this he yells, "Oh I'm freakin' starving!!!" Heather and I literally lost it. We were laughing hysterically. To be a kid again hahaha.

Character interactions are my absolute favorite part about Disney, and taking character selfies is a must for me. Exhibit A…
11219336_115245482142859_2628777306847320415_n.jpg

I love this picture.. Tigger was a flirt and I just look SO happy lol.
IMG_7280.jpg

Remember our friend who was "freakin' starving?" He strikes again. When Eeyore came out he says (screams), "Look, it's Donkey!!!" Once again, we were cracking up. Just as we calmed down, I looked at Heather and said, "I just want to meet Shrek!" This of course sent her into another fit of laughter. :hilarious: I was the assistant choreographer for the production of Shrek the Musical that my high school alma mater put on this past spring and absolutely fell in love with all things Shrek because of it. So though I know they're at Universal, I wasn't kidding about wanting to meet Shrek.

My thoughts on Crystal Palace… I loved it! It's expensive for breakfast, especially because I don't actually eat breakfast on a normal day lol. So I'd do it again when I have kids, but probably not before then for that reason. The food was great. Breakfast food is pretty standard I guess, but that stuffed French Toast is a must-try. The atmosphere was also great and we had awesome character interactions! Often at character meals, the interactions are rushed, especially if you don't have kids at your table. But that definitely wasn't the case here and we didn't feel rushed at all. I highly recommend eating here!

We left the restaurant about 9:10am and headed for Adventureland. First stop: Jungle Cruise! I love the corny humor and the simple fact that this was one of Walt's rides. It's a must-do for me every trip. It had a posted wait time of 10 minutes, but it was maybe 5. Skipper Andrew was great and had some new jokes that I've never heard before. I hate when people don't participate on this ride. You're in Disney.. it's okay to act silly! I giggled (maybe too much) at his ridiculous jokes, yelled out answers to the Asian/African elephant questions (which he made fun of me for getting wrong and told me I needed to pay attention ), and oohed/aahed on his command. Jeesh people, let your hair down!

After our cruise, we headed over to the Magic Carpets. They also had a posted wait time of 10 minutes, but we only waited about 5.

Magic Carpet selfie!

After our journey to a whole new world, we headed toward Fantasyland via Frontierland & Liberty Square. Chip and Dale were out and their line was pretty short, so we hopped in! I love how playful they are, so make it a point to meet them each trip. They're also quite flirty. :p

We tore ourselves away from these little cuties and continued toward Fantasyland. We got in line for Peter Pan, another of my favorite characters to meet! I never liked the movie as a kid, but I have a HUGE crush on real life Peter. He asked us if we were mermaids because we have scales on our ears - uh yes? Who doesn't wish they were a mermaid?

Love a man in tights. Just kidding but my goodness - marry me Peter. :inlove:

We had a great interaction with him, but all good things must come to an end - sigh. We headed to Mickey's PhilharMagic to escape the heat until our first FastPass. I think it's a cute show, and love watching/hearing the kids reacting to the 3D effects. So cute!

We had a FP+ for Splash Mountain at 11am, so went back to Frontierland to ride. Neither of us had ever ridden Splash before, because we don't like being half wet and then having to walk around the park like that until the sun dries us. But since we were staying on property, we figured we would ride and then could go back to the room and change if necessary.

IMG_7294.jpg

We were lucky enough to be seated in the front row… we knew what was in our near future. The boats got backed up a few times, which I think is common for this ride from what I've read.

I was brave and kept my phone out because I wanted to get this shot - I was so excited that I caught it! Lol.
IMG_7305.JPG

How did we make out, you ask?
IMG_7306.JPG

Splash Mountain- 1 Us- 0
I still laugh when I look at this picture. Heather was not happy… AT ALL. Which made me love it that much more hahaha. I really liked it, but definitely wouldn't wait 70 minutes in line to ride it. If we do it again on future trips, I'd say we'll do the same thing as this time because it worked out well timing wise.

MK_SPLASH_7342060939.jpeg

After Splash, we decided to hit Enchanted Tales with Belle since it only had a 20 minute wait. We had a FP+ for it later in the week, but figured we could change it to something else and just do standby. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite, so naturally I adore this show. I always get teary eyed watching the kids interact with Belle, especially when she dances with the "Beast" at the end. I can only hope my kids get to participate someday. :)

I have to mention this.. while we were waiting in Belle's cottage, these two little girls (probably about 6 and 3) started climbing up the stairs. We're looking around, waiting for the parents to tell them to get down. No such luck. So eventually the CM opened to door to let us in and asked them to get down. Actually, she asked them at least 6 times and they literally just stood there and stared at her. Still no parents to be found. We went into Maurice's shop at that point, so I'm not sure how the whole situation played out. But seriously, my parents never would have let me do anything like that. And if I happened to sneak over without their knowledge, I would have only needed to be told once to get down. They would have been mortified if a CM had to make me get down. But I digress.

The show was great, as always. The little Beast was absolutely precious and wasn't shy at all. I never get tired of watching this. :)

She's gorgeous.
IMG_7313.jpg

After Enchanted Tales, we decided to head back to the resort to take a break in the pool for a bit. On our way out, we bought balloons to float in our room for the week. I've been dying to have one of these for years, but could never justify buying one for only a few days since they last for several weeks. But, our motto for this trip was, "When in Disney!" What 22 year old doesn't need a Mickey head balloon?

IMG_7319.jpg

We left the park around 1pm and headed home. It was HOT and the piano pool was calling our names!

HAHA, I said you can put me in your report but not talk trash!!!!

Great pics in front of the Crystal Palace! I can see my family in a few of them. I saw you near the door as I was headed in with them.

Instead of saying hello I probably should have took some food of your plate, that would have really freaked you out! LOL.

Awesome report so far, can't wait for more!
