What does Epcot need to get more attention?

I think Epcot is missing something according to a guy named Lance Hart who is a theme park news editor on screamscape.com he has an article that says Epcot has failed. Well I don't know I guess in some ways if you talk about thrill rides..Epcot has never really offer that. Test Track is the only attraction that comes to mind if your talking about an aggressive thrill ride like Test Track or a highly aggressive simulator like Mission: Space. Star Wars the adventure continues and Mission: Space are probably the best simulator rides in the world.

Lance seems to forget that EP gets plenty of attention, every spring and fall....

It has failed it's original theme and purpose, but it has not failed as a theme park. It could use some changes and updates, but it is still a great park to visit for a full day experience.

They do well with Food & Wine and Flower & Garden Festival.

As a theme park it has been a bit stagnant.

If you think about Universe of Energy, how many people go in there for a break, to take a nap, or find that they've taken a nap. I like the attraction, but I can't think of any other attraction that actually has that affect on people. Sure, during the hot Summer people will go to the indoor attractions to get out of the heat or head to attractions where they can just take a break, but you don't often find them napping in on those or seeking an attraction out for a nap.

The Living Seas feels like a Nemo retread to me. There isn't much of a story except the father yelling, "NEMO! NEMO!" over and over again. There are some neat effects with the characters swimming in a 3D sort of way in the aquarium but that's about it. It's not a very engaging ride. The outside entrance and queue area are well done. The ride and then the inside, which looks like Sealab 2020, is pretty blah. I've never had a problem just walking onto this ride, even on the busiest of days. I will attribute some of that to it's awkward location.

Imagination is pretty blah. Everyone knows that. It seems like with a subject like "imagination" that it should be awesome, but it's not. It's a bunch of parlor tricks at the beginning and then crazy land for the 2nd half.

I think that The Land had held up well, as has Spaceship Earth. Test Track is definitely popular and Mission: Space is not as popular as you'd think it'd be. It's almost always a walk-on for me.

Innoventions is OK, but something I normally just skip.

I really like World Showcase but it seems like, after 30 years, they ought to add a few more countries and attractions. Finish Germany with the Rhine River ride. Add in Australia, Spain, or Russia. Something new back there would be nice. The Frozen makeover could be good or it could feel like a retread.

I like Epcot, don't get me wrong, it's just that it could use some love (more than retreads) and it's not so much that it needs a thrill ride, but more that it needs more interesting attractions, updated films, etc.

I love Epcot, but I'd love to see a ride or two more in World Showcase. Journey could use some love. Spaceship Earth needs some attention and maybe get rid of Ellen and re theme it. Really should put something back in Wonders. Other than that Future World just needs some love to. Just a few things and Epcot would be an amazing park but like I said I love it now so

I pretty much agree. There is no longer any reason to go into Imagination. It has lost its excitement.

Ellen and Alex Trebek (who cares about Bill Nye the science guy) have aged more than the dinosaurs. Get them out of the 90s! Energy needs a refresh.

The Nemo ride is nothing more than looking at screens. Yawn. Otherwise, the rest of the pavillion is fine with me. It's a large aquarium. What's not to li ke about that? And I actually like Turtle Talk.

Mission:Space is either you want to to ride or don't. Put me in the latter. I have no desire to go on it.

WS is where Epcot makes all it's revenue, though: F&G Festival, F&W Festival, etc. I think the pavilions that have attractions fit well wihin them. Who knows about the Frozen ride being built in Norway? American Adventure could use a refurb, though. The Statue of Liberty torch has been gold since, what, 1986?

Really??
It looked pretty **** great 3 weekends ago.
The poster was taking about the attractions themselves or buildings that are closed in future world a lot of the year. You also have to look at things without the Food and Festival when you talk about Future World.

The fact is the Imagination Pavilion has been a big problem for Future World for a long time.

The current version of Universe of Energy is 18 years old. The fact people go there just to nap or take a break. The attraction didn't age well like it not either.

Wonders of Life Building only be used for Festivals each year is an issue in terms of being a wasted space.

The thing is Epcot isn't adding a ride in Frozen, but Disney is banking on it being more popular than Maelstrom. This is a ride replacing another ride in Norway.

I may be wrong, but I fully expect the same ride but with Frozen characters instead of gods, vikings, trolls, polar bears, puffins, and an oil derrick (which is all really weird when you think about Maelstrom).

The boats may look slightly different / less Nordic, too.

I like Epcot, but I don't love it. Whatever its original intention, it seems to have slid off the rails. Instead of being a 'City of Tomorrow', it's somehow just become a non-descript theme park focussing on nothing in particular - or just a mixed bag of stuff depending on which area you go to. Epcot needs to make itself a centre of innovation and technology and allow people to come and witness and participate in this technology, through rides, experiences and demonstrations. The 'Innovations' exhibits at the moment comes off as a virtual junkyard of odds and ends with no 'future' in mind.

Problem with Energy is that even if you update all the film footage and dioramas, you're still riding a slow-moving 45-minute ride past films about science. That's great for some people (and certainly how I'd like it to stay), but short of gutting it and converting it into a new ride a la Test Track, there will always be people that fall asleep in there. :(

True. As currently configured, It's a movie, followed by dinosaurs, followed by more movies. It would be the same ride even if new footage was filmed for it.
