Challenge 2 - The Game Changer

Before I begin with my proposal, I would like to share a SUPER important piece of information about my resort. Going along with the critiques I got for challenge 1, I will be moving my location of the resort. The new location will be a huge change in scenery. It’s 61.87 miles into the Gulf of Mexico on a large island! Here’s how it would work. From Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin, you could take a high-speed train to Galveston. Then, you could take another high-speed train to the Disneyland Resort Island. You could also take a high-speed train from New Orleans, directly to the island. I figured you could also take a large ferry to the island, though it would take a little bit longer to arrive at the resort. This location is also fixing Sam’s problem with no water near the resort. Now the resort is surrounded by it! The new location is shown on the map below. The resort is now renamed... The Disneyland Gulf Resort. Now onto challenge number 2!

New Disneyland Location 2.jpg

Welcome to Disneyland Park!

This is the Disneyland Resort’s headliner park. It focuses on the imagination and that everyone is a child at heart. And, as Walt himself said, it focuses on Yesterday, Tomorrow and Fantasy. It is primarily based off of “Magic Kingdom” style parks, but with different twists and surprises.

image.jpg

Here is the park map. Sorry for the sideways photo.

Main Street U.S.A. – You enter through the infamous train station and enter onto Main Street U.S.A. At the end of Main Street closest to the castle is the Elias Gardens, which provide a tranquil setting in place of a busy hub and there are bridges to many of the lands.

Attractions:

Disneyland RailroadThis version of the train takes guests around the perimeter of the park. Also, this version travels at different elevations and also travels in the park at some points.

Main Street VehiclesThese vehicles transport guests up and down Main Street U.S.A. These vehicles range from horse drawn trolleys to double decker “buses”.

Main Street Cinema – This is a real working cinema, which shows many of the popular cartoons of the 1930’s and 1940’s. You can also get a keepsake ticket from the ticket booth to take home.

The Mary Poppins JourneyEnter though the Banks family home and wander through until you reach the back door and enter into the park. Then you board a ride vehicle, which is a ride vehicle similar to the one at the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh but White, Red and Pink and with 2 carousel horses. You wander through and meet many famous Mary Poppins characters such as the Penguins. Next, you wander onto the rooftops of London for the finale scene and wave goodbye to Bert and the chimneysweeps!

Adventureland – This Adventureland is based off of the jungles of South America, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Attractions:

Jungle CruiseGet into a small boat and venture on a 10-day expedition of the jungles of the world. Get up close with Audio Animatronic Animals (More advanced and lifelike then current versions) and along the way listen to corny jokes told by the skipper.

Tarzan’s Tree house – Climb up into Tarzan’s home amidst the branches and leaves. See up-close what Tarzan’s life is like.

Fire MountainBased off of an attraction that was never made, this roller coaster brings you into the depths of Fire Mountain, which is an active volcano. Enter at the bottom of the mountain and work you way down to the bubbling lava pools in the depths of the Volcano. Then board a vehicle and you are on your way. This rides takes you on a twisting and turning adventure inside and outside of the volcano.

Lava Pool Splash ZoneA water play area meant for the little ones while their siblings ride Fire Mountain.

Skull Rock Rapids – A flume ride that takes you through Skull Rock. Help Peter Pan, Wendy, John and Michael save Tinker Bell from Captain Hook’s grasp. This may lead to a sudden drop down a waterfall. The vehicle for this ride is a small pirate ship that can sit 20 guests at one time.

Pirates of the CaribbeanThe same as the one in Disneyland but with a few added theming elements to make it fit better into Adventureland. Also, there are no drops here as Skull Rock Rapids is right next-door and the train tracks are elevated.

Aladdin’s Magic CarpetsA ride that takes you through the Caves of Wonder and over the market place that Aladdin steals the bread. Enter through the Cave of Wonders and try to escape! When you finally do, fly over the Market place with a Whole New World playing in the background.

Fantasyland – This land is the heart of the park. Centered on the idea that everyone is a child at heart and many classic Disney movies are represented here. The design of this version is a medieval village in the European countryside.

Attractions:

King Arthur’s Carousel – A carousel with many ornate horses.

Peter Pan’s FlightFly over the rooftops of London and arrive in Netherland. All of a sudden, Wendy, John, Michael and the Lost Boys are capture by Captain Hook and Peter Pan must save them! Ultimately, Peter wins and they live happily ever after.

Mr. Toad’s Wild RideTake a journey through Mr. Toad’s estate and go on an amazing adventure! Based off of the Magic Kingdom version, this ride has two loading areas and two tracks.

It’s a small worldHop in a boat and take a journey through the countries of the world and listen to their native children sing the catchy song “it’s a small world”.

Alice in WonderlandHop in a caterpillar car and travel to wonderland with Alice. Fight off the queen of hearts and travel after the white rabbit who is trying not to be late.

Mad Tea Party - The same teacups that are at Disneyland!

Pooh’s Honey AdventureGet in a Honey Pot and help Pooh and his friends find as many Honey pots as possible. This ride is basically a cross between Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Pooh’s Honey Hunt. This is a “shooting” attraction where guests must “shoot” as many Honey pots as possible. The winner then gets a personal addressing from Pooh at the end of the ride.

Cinderella’s Royal CourtCome visit Cinderella’s house where she lives with her step-mother and step sisters. Board a vehicle and travel through a retelling of the Cinderella story.

Storybook CastleThe icon for the park, it is similar to Shanghai Disneyland’s castle but has no interior atrium and only has a character restaurant.

Snow White’s Scary Adventure’sEscape the evil queen’s grasp as Snow White tries to find her true love.

Beauty and the Beast: The Tale as old as timeJoin Belle in an amazing attraction experience. Hop in a rose themed vehicle and ride through the retelling of the Tale as old as time.

Frontierland – This land takes you back to the times of the old west and when cowboys were roaming the streets.

Attractions:

Big Thunder Mountain RailroadThe same, loved attraction as always! But this time it’s on an island, like the Paris version, and much longer. You enter through a “makeshift” shack and climb up the mountain to the loading area. Then, you plunge into the depths of the canyon and you’re riding the wildest ride in the wilderness! This version also includes the interactive queue that was introduced at WDW.

Splash MountainRide in a log into your laughing place! Venture into the mountain and get ready to be soaked! Pass by the famous scenes of Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear trying to capture Br’er Rabbit for their dinner. As they finally catch Br’er Rabbit, take the plunge down Chickapin Hill into the Briar Patch to escape the Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear.

Western Stage Coach Expedition Get in a stagecoach and ride along through the frontier!

Tom Sawyer Mines - Travel through the mines try to get out! But watch out for falling rocks and dead-ends!

Country Bear Jamboree - Come in and sing along to your favorite country tunes sung by none other than the Country Bears!

Mickey's Winter Village - This land is similar to Mickey's Toontown in a sense but has a less cartoonish feel. Think off a small cartoon, alpine village with a courtyard in the middle where Mickey and the gang go during the winter to vacation. The roofs are covered with fake snow and every night, fake snow is blown throughout the land.

Attractions:

Mickey's Winter House - Walk through the house Mickey stays in during the cold winter months.

Minnie's Winter House - Walk though the house Minnie stays in during the cold winter months.

Chip and Dale's Skating Rink - This is a whip type ride themed after Chip and Dale, as well as ice!

Goofy's Sledding Company - A children's coaster that is the same layout as the barnstormer but the theming and vehicles are different. The vehicles look like sleds and the theming is a hill that you are sledding on.

Minnie's Bow-tique - Similar to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique but with bows. AT the end of the experience you get to meet Minnie and Daisy!

Tommorowland - The theme for this Tommorowland is NOT the future that never was. It's the future that people dream of today. If that doesn't turn into a reality, it will be in all my power to get it fixed.

Attractions:

Space Mountain - Blast off into space on your very own rocket ship! This version of the classic attraction is most similar to Disneyland's. At the very beginning, after you start moving, there is a small launch where you go from 0 to 25 miles per hour in 4 seconds. This version has two sides of track and uses the same vehicle that Disneyland does.

Time Warp - Get in a time machine and blast off to the future. You will see hover boards, flying cars and even rocket boots! Then return to the present time in awe of the future.

Tommorowland Transit Authority Highway in the Sky - The people mover! This version is much longer and takes a much more vast route than it's siblings.

Autopia - A more futuristic Autopia! This version is also a little bit longer and had 3 lanes.

Astro Orbiter - Fly high in the sky with the planets of the galaxy right next to you.

Walle: The story - Travel through the story of Walle: and it will definitely provide something for your kids to do, while their older siblings ride space mountain!

Buzz Light Year's Space Ranger Spin - Because the park already has a shooting game in Fantasyland, then this one will be a bit shorter then its cousins in Florida and California. This version is more of a dark ride then a shooting game and follows the storyline that Buzz Light Year needs your help to defeat Emperor Zerg. Also, there are no guns on the vehicle. Instead there is a joystick that let's you spin the vehicle however you want!

Mini Land : Star Wars Land -

Attractions:

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue - Who is the rebel spy? Get in the Starspeeder 1000 and take a flight in the galaxy far, far away! And may the force be with you!

Speeder Bike Racing - Get on a speeder bike and race against your friends and family. This is like the Radiator Springs Racers racing sequence but with a Star Wars theme.

Jedi Training Academy - This is the same show that is at Walt Disney World. The major fix though is that children up to 15 can participate. And, once a day, there will be an adult show where the little ones can watch their folks be a Jedi with them!

Edison's Square - The theme of this land is imagination and inventing new ideas that will improve the world around us. This land is the smallest of the seven lands.

Attractions:

Carousel of Progress - The same attraction that is at the Magic Kingdom.

Edison's Adventure - A dark ride following the story of Thomas Edison and the invention of the lightbulb. This ride includes highly detailed Audio Animatronics and amazing special effects.

Walt Disney Galaxy: Disneyland Luna - 66 attractions
This park is based on the concepts of leisure and exploration first pondered by Walt Disney in the 1950s when building Disneyland in California. It follows the interests of mankind, from our own hometowns to the exotic places of the world, to imaginary lands of make believe to discovery of new concepts and futuristic ideas.
WaltDisneyGalaxydllmap.jpg

  • Main Street USA - themed to a 1950s American town, this land has arcades and pathways leading as bypasses to the Realm of Adventure and the Realm of Discovery, as well as the main street leading to the hub.
    • Disneyland Railroad - a new unique railroad will circle most of the park, but come in front of Discoveryland.
    • Main Street Vehicles - Guests may board a 1950s automobile in a bus or car to ride up and down the street.
    • Main Street Cinema - Unlike cinemas at other Magic Kingdom style parks, this theater is larger and shows full movies of the 1950s era, like The Blob (they are included with admission). The theater is an actual theater too where guests may sit down and purchase concessions.
    • Johnson's Television Shoppe - This would be a shop where guests could talk with Johnny J. Johnson about what's on TV in the 1950s. Guests could watch old shows like "Disneyland", "The Mickey Mouse Club", "Lassie", and more!
    • NASA Station 51 - This would be a sci-if experience where experts would be on hand to discuss space travel of the 1950s with other teenage "citizens" barking in to argue about what they saw on Science Fiction Theater. ;)
    • The Sock Hop - This would be a quick service eatery where a juke box never stops playing on the bottom floor. On the second story however, a live band plays on an American bandstand ( ;) ), and the dance floor would invite guests to dance along.
image.jpg

    • Gus's Garage Racers - This is a thrill ride similar to one I previously created with Voxel. But this version is bigger and better. Guests are welcomed into one of two queues where it is explained that they are now a member of the gang. One line is one gang and one is the other. It is explained that you've got to win the drag race against the rival gang so we can stand our ground and mark our turf. Guests then load up into antique cars of the decade and go on a drag race through over and under the back streets of the town, weaving around pedestrian walkways. Eventually, one team wins at the finish. Merchandise, including leather jackets, are available to purchase saying "This is my turf!" or something similar to notify you won.
wildlife-express-train.jpg

Realm of Adventure - This land would represent adventurous places from around the world, all layered about the Rivers of the World.
    • Wildlife Express Train- This will be a smaller railroad simply connecting the different areas of the Realm of Adventure.
    • Disneyland Railroad
  • Agrabah
    • A Whole New World - this would be a hanging dark ride through the story of Aladdin where guests ride above Arabia in magic carpets.
    • Aladdin: Arabian Nights - this is a new updated version of the musical spectacular with new songs, dialogue and more!
  • New Orleans
    • Lady Belle Riverboat - this is a steamboat similar to those that floated on the Mississippi. It would cruise along the Rivers of the World.
    • The Princess and the Frog - ride
  • Tumbleweed
    • Haunted Hotel - this is a new take on the Haunted Mansion. Some classic scenes remain like the ballroom but some new surprises are in store like scenes in the ghosts' rooms and an elevator drop.
    • The Caldwell House - in this new walk through guests enter a house for a party along with a few "citizens" (actors). However, when someone is murdered, guests must solve the mystery of the haunted, seemingly abandoned house where the killings occur.
  • Thunder Mesa
    • Western River Expedition - a revitalization of the former concept, this boat ride shows guests the whimsical adventure pioneers made across the American wilderness.
    • Frontier Mountain Prairie Railroad - a train heading west has gone off the tracks as an earthquake looms with guests buckled up along the way.
    • Pioneer Golden Stagecoaches - this ride uses convincingly realistic stagecoach ride vehicles to take guests on a journey to the American gold rush of the west. Some scenes show the glitter to the gold and those who treasure it.
    • Wild West Rumble - an epic stunt show featuring a showdown between the old west sheriff and his deputies who have allied with the Indians versus the outlaws.
  • Liberty Square
    • The Mayflower - guests can sail on the famous ship on the Rivers of the World.
    • The Great American Adventure - a completely rethought revitalization of The American Adventure show, with new scenes since World War II and updates.
  • Caribbean Island
    • Pirates of the Caribbean: Blackbeard's Bounty - A new version of the famous ride featuring a larger drop and primarily focusing on Blackbeard's hidden treasure, tying it in with the nearby resort.
    • The Curse of the Black Pearl - a pirate stunt show.
    • Indiana Jones and the Secret Weapons of Peace - a new EMV ride with a unique story during the Cold War as Indy searches for the ultimate weapon in a hidden civilization.
  • Wild Jungle
    • The Exotic World Cruise - a new, more extensive Jungle Cruise along the outskirts of the Rivers of the World.
    • Kilimanjaro Safaris - a replica of the currently amazing attraction with real life African animals.
    • Tiger River Rapids - the never-built rapids ride featuring real live Asian animals.
    • Festival of the Lion King - the show comes to Disneyland Luna in a similar way to HKDL.
Castillo_de_Blancanieves.png

Realm of Fantasy -
    • Disneyland Railroad
  • Royal Courtyard
    • Royal Fairytale Hall - a meeting area for all of your favorite princes and princes, with a fun film at the end
    • Cinderella's Magical Journey - a dark ride following Cinderella's story.
    • The Bravery of Briar Rose - a dark ride taking guests along on the journey of Sleeping Beauty
    • A Tale As Old As Time: Belle's Journey - an LPS dark ride that whisks guests away into Beauty and the Beast.
    • Ariel's Undersea Adventure - the ride comes to Disneyland Luna with major improvements to the finale of the ride.
  • Alpine Village
    • Matterhorn Bobsleds - the ride comes into space new and improved.
    • Beauty and the Beast: On Stage! - the show comes into the 21st century in this new forest version.
    • A Tangled Tale - a dark ride following the story of Rapunzel.
    • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - the ride comes to this park in it's original vision with a longer track and more show scenes.
    • A Fairy Tale Adventure - this show combines all of the princesses to fight the evil powers that be.
  • Wonderland
    • Mad Tea Party - the classic spinner with a glass roof.
    • Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - an updated dark ride with all new projection effects following the story of Alice in Wonderland.
    • A Very Merry Unbirthday! - a fun live show at the Mad Hatter's tea party where he welcomes the guests to a celebration.
  • Neverland
    • Peter Pan's Flight - an updated version of the ride.
    • The Jolly Roger - this boat floats upon the River of Fantasy (a branch of the Rivers of the World) themed to Captain Hook's own vessel.
    • Pixie Hollow - this is a meet and greet that seems to shrink guests down to meet the pixie fairies of Neverland.
    • Tink Turnabout - a spinner based on the once planned concept for New Fantasyland.
  • Storybook Circus
    • Dumbo the Flying Elephant - the classic spinner comes in double the fun!
    • The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini! - this kid's coaster comes with expanded theming and a heap of fun.
    • Mickey's Circus - this new show is a showcase of the Gang's mystical abilities as first suggested in the Silly Sideshow. Live characters perform and Mickey acts as ringmaster.
    • Pete's Silly Sideshow - a meet and greet with Mickey and the Gang in their circus attire and environments
  • Cherry Tree Lane
    • Jolly Holiday - a Mary Poppins dark ride where guests ride on carousel horses and carriages.
    • Mary's Magic Carousel - rather than it's usual location, the carousel finds it's home in the London park on Cherry Tree Lane
space89.jpg

Realm of Discovery -
    • Disneyland Railroad
  • Discovery Mountain
    • 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - a new ride using a similar system to the original ride at MK as well as new simulator technology to create a journey to the deep
    • Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon - a version of the ride very similar to the original Paris attraction on a journey to the Moon by cannon,
    • Over the Mountain's Crest - this space shot ride launches guests out of a volcano's center
    • Lava Lunge - this rapids ride takes guests floating along lava flows with red colored water (using red lights and steam).
    • The Visionarium - a new show where the Timekeeper reveals the past's future to guests.
  • Da Vinci Flats
    • Up, Up, and Away! - here guests fly in some of Leonardo Da Vinci's zaniest flying machine concepts on a hanging coaster.
    • Astro Disks - an Astro Orbiter ride that looks like DL's with HKDL's flying saucer vehicles.
    • The Secrets of Da Vinci - this walkthrough would be an exhibit of Da Vinci's concepts and ideals. Guides lead groups through an old workshop uncovering the inventor's hidden message he placed in a notebook, exploring concepts along the way.
    • The Adventurers' Club - an experience similar to the original on Pleasure Island
  • Discovery Bay
    • Around the World in 80 Days - a hanging dark ride following the story of an inventor circumnavigating the globe in a dirigible.
    • Journey Through Imagination - A show featuring the Dreamfinder in an emergency situation. Imagination levels are at a low and he needs the audience to complete some tasks to bring it up.
    • New Horizons - A new version of the classic with a more Victorian but modern feel
    • TransCenter - this is Test Track but not Test Track. Think of it like a Victorian Test Track. Guests design Victorian "hover cars" and then test it out. Like the original concept for Test Track, they seem to "hover".
    • Journey to the Center of the Earth - the instant classic ride comes to Disneyland Luna with new ride vehicles to vary it from TransCenter.
We hope you visit Disneyland Luna!

Thank you for viewing my Challenge 2 proposal!
FANTASTIC IDEA....but not logistical. A high speed rail from NOLA to an island would never happen unless hell froze over and our state developers saw the potential of our state and cities. Louisiana doesn't even have a basic passenger line from the Capitol (Baton Rouge) to New Orleans. Earlier this year the legislature strikes down a proposal for one.

Maybe move it closer to the mainland I would suggest the Teledo Bend area, you could pick which side of the lake you would build on, but it's a more logistical placement and up to you.

First an explanation of the location I decided on. The best locations out there in the current world have all pretty much been taken by the current parks. In my mind things have to be at least somewhat feasible for me to work on it so it otherwise it annoys me (sorry @jdmdisney99 haha). There are a few ideas I had on new locations which were another domestic park, Australia, Brazil and the UAE. Australia was out due to low-ish population and hard to get to for tourism. Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE both have plenty of land, not much competition and predicted tourism of 15+ million a year in the near future but the culture clash in my opinion is too much of a negative at present times. Brazil is a good choice because there is a healthy local and tourist population as well as not much competition but @RMicheal21 idea of a Texas Disney caught my attention and who doesn’t want another domestic park. So without further ado here is my...

Disneyland Oasis Resort

This resort is fully owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company. The resort will break ground in 2015 and open phase 1 on December 5th 2018, Walt’s 117th birthday. It will contain 3 theme parks, one water park, the Imagineering Experience, Disney Village dining and entertainment complex, 5 resort hotels by the year 2040 and still have room for future expansion.

In 2014 The Walt Disney Company in conjunction with the local and state Texas governments will announce plans to open a resort destination just west of Houston. The city of Oasis will be founded along Interstate 10. The city of Oasis will be an independently run city that will house attractions, hotels and other businesses solely based on tourism. The main attraction of the city will of course be the Disneyland Oasis Resort. It will be located approximately less then 30 mins from Houston (largest population in TX), 2 hours from San Antonio and 100 miles from Galveston for cruises with other large metro areas not much farther.

The resort will build up to being an international resort destination but will initially rely on local attendance to support it as Anaheim’s Disneyland does. It will lie at the northern edge of Oasis approximately 1 mile north of I-10.

The resort occupies approximately 6.5 square mile of area.

Theme Parks

Disneyland Park
The 1st park to open on December 5th, 2018 will be based on the other Magic Kingdom style parks. Initial lands will be Main Street U.S.A., Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, American Waterfront, Frontierland, Tortuga and Adventureland. It will however take the current concepts in new directions and bring in attractions from the international parks to differentiate itself from its domestic siblings. It will be the anchor of the resort.

Disney’s Premier Studios
A revamped version of the classic Disney studio style park will open with phase 2 of the resort. It will open on October 16th, 2023 which is the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company. Guests will enter down Hollywood Boulevard to a central lagoon which four lands based on studios will radiate out from. These Studios include Walt Disney Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Marvel.

Disney’s Legends
The third park to open will open with Phase 3 and will be focused on Myths, Legends and Fairy tales. The largest park at the Disneyland Oasis Resort, this will truly give the Magic Kingdom style parks a run for their money. The Park will be exclusive to this resort. Lands Include Mystic Landing, Sea Legends, Fantasy Kingdom and Mythic Province.

Resorts

Ultimate
Walt Disney Resort and Spa - This is a contemporary luxury hotel located on Imagination Lake that embraces the legacy of Walt. All rooms are Suites and include magical features exclusive to this resort. Multiple restaurants are located within the resort with the highlight being Animation Magic dinner show. It is the only resort with its own entrance into a theme park by having a private entrance into Disney’s Legends. It is also the only resort with a Peoplemover Mk III which provides transportation to Disney Village. 400 suites are available starting at $800 per night.

Deluxe
Disney’s Oasis Resort - This is a luxury hotel themed around a desert oasis which serves as the resorts pool area. Also located on Imagination Lake and includes restaurants and nightly entertainment. 800 rooms are available starting at $400 per night along with 200 DVC villas.

Disney’s Fairy Tale Resort and Spa - This is a luxury hotel which is themed after a large castle and kingdom. Located on Imagination Lake the hotel includes its own 3 mast sailing ship as well as multiple themed restaurants and Royal Dining experiences. 700 rooms are available starting at $550 per night

Disney’s Sierra Vista Resort and Spa - A luxury hotel themed to the Sierra Nevada wilderness. This hotel will open with Geyser Point water park during Phase 2. Log cabin styling will be similar to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The resort will include a private entrance into Geyser point water park. Themed restaurants and geyser themed pool area are the main features of this resort. 850 rooms are available starting at $450 per night along with 300 DVC villas

Disney’s Lands Resort - This is the second volume resort for on site guest. This hotel will open with Disney Cinema Studios during Phase 2. Similar to the Oceans Resort it includes themed and pool recreation areas. 1500 rooms are available starting at $200 per night.

Value
Their are NO value resorts at Disneyland Oasis Resort. Bargain and value resorts are reserved for the city of Oasis to provide which will provide exclusivity to on-site hotels and preserve the magic for guest.

Future
Land is reserved on the west side of the resort for more Moderate and Deluxe resorts to be constructed as need be.

Transportation
Most resort transportation is by special Magic Trams which are 100% electric and have multiple passenger capacities depending on destination and time of day. The exceptions to this are Peoplemovers and private entrance to Disney’s Legends at Walt Disney Resort and Spa and the private entrance to Geyser Point at Disney’s Sierra Vista Resort and Spa.

Disney Village

Disney Village is the central Hub of the resort. From here guests radiate out to the 3 theme parks. Think Citywalk at Universal Orlando where guests have to walk through this area from the parking garages to get to the theme parks. This is the large dinning, shopping and entertainment district for the resort. Transportation options include a Monorail station to Disneyland Park’s Tomorrowland, Peoplemovers to the Walt Disney Resort and Spa, Magic Trams and Parking Trams.

Geyser Point Water Park

Geyser Point is the resort water park themed to the Sierra Nevada Wilderness. The back story behind this park is the mining town of Sierra Point was founded in 1859(Easter Egg). After a while an accidental mining blast was too powerful and blew open a fissure from which millions of gallons of hot water flowed and created geyser all over the town flooding it. Geyser Gator is the Mascot of the park in Disney tradition. Geysers erupt continuously around the park causing water levels to rise and fall throughout the park. The park includes a lazy river, wave pool, dueling zip lines, 10 slides and an Geyser lift ride. Geyser Point will open with Disney’s Sierra Vista Resort and Spa as part of Phase 2.

Imagineering Center

This is a attraction where guests can experience the Imagineering process, view current projects being worked on around the world by Imagineering and participate in Imagineering activities. Think Innoventions plus Disney Quest but focused on Walt Disney Imagineering Past, Present and Future. Imagineering Center will open during Phase 2.

Imagination Lake

A large man made lake in the southeast corner of the property. 1 Ultimate and 2 Deluxe resorts reside on the lake providing marinas for boating and fishing activities. Disney’s Fairy Tale Resort and Spa also features a 3 mast sailing ship for pirate excursions from the resort.

Disney Unity
While this park may not be the most visited park in Disneyland Down Under, Disney Unity will be the first park of its type in both the Eastern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. Unity will also be the most expensive park ever built at ~5 Billion US Dollars. E. Cardon Walker once said Epcot was a place where "...Human achievements are celebrated through imagination, wonders of enterprise and concepts of a future that promises new and exciting benefits for all. ...That it may instill a new sense of belief and pride in man's ability to shape a world that offers hope to people everywhere in the world."

Welcome to The Disney District!

Map Key:
World Plaza: Orange
Central Park: Dark Green
London Waterfront: LightBlue
Newbury Street: Magenta
Water: Dark Blue and Wave Symbol
Greenery (Trees, Grass, etc): Light Green

The Disney District at the Disneyland Resort is divided into four sections or themed areas. These areas are World Plaza, London Waterfront, Newbury Street and Central Park. Each area has it's own theme and has a real-life counterpart (Except World Plaza). World Plaza is what you might imagine in your head. It's a very large plaza with many trees and it is the main entrance-way from the main esplanade. The only shop/restaurant in the World Plaza is The World of Disney store. This store will be the largest Disney store on the planet. The London Waterfront is very similar to the actual thing in London, but has been modified to feature retail and dining locations in the buildings. The main feature of this area though, is the central lagoon that is faces. This lagoon is home to a night-time fountain display. This is not as big as the World of Color and without a story-line as this is for pure decoration and atmosphere. Newbury Street is themed after the upscale, shopping and dining district of Boston. This area has the most shops and has something for everyone. Finally, Central Park is themed, well, after Central Park in New York City. It has many trees and greenery and sports many restaurants and shops along it's outskirts. Now on to the descriptions!

Restaurant Key:

Quick Service- QS
Full Service- FS
Serves Breakfast- B
Serves Lunch- L
Serves Dinner- D
Serves Snacks- S

World Plaza:

1- The World of Disney. (Shop). This World of Disney store is the largest of its kind and the main retail location on property. It has a similar system to its WDW counterpart in which it has multiple rooms devoted to certain items.

Central Park:

2- Central Park souvenirs. (Shop, Unique). This shop is a small but great place to get general Disneyland Resort merchandise.

3- Goofy's Hot Dog Kitchen. (QS, L, S, Unique). This is a small, quick service restaurant that serves Hot Dogs as its signature dish.

4- NYC Scoops. (QS, S, Unique). This is your typical ice cream parlor in Central Park.

5- Broadway Gifts. (Shop, Unique). This is a shop devoted to theater merchandise of current and past Broadway shows. Get exclusive items from Wicked, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Newsies, and more.

6- Ellen's Stardust Diner. (FS, B, L, D). This will be one of the main draws of Central Park. Based off of its NYC counterpart, this diner is home to the world famous singing wait staff that sing while serving you your milkshake and fries.

7- Carnegie Deli. (FS, L,D). This deli will be exactly like its NYC counterpart and will feature its famous pickles and Sandwiches.

8- Central Park Putt-Putt. (Venue). An 18 hole mini golf course that is slightly more challenging then the resorts other mini golf course. It is also indoors, but themed like it is outside, in Central Park at night.

9- Goofy's Candy Company. (Shop). Exactly like the one in WDW.

10- Sidewalk Street Cart. (QS, S, Unique). Home to the famous pretzels and hot dogs that sit in the carts on almost every New York block.

11- Minnie's Bow-tique. (Shop, Unique). Unlike the one In Disneyland Park, this one just sells bows rather then have girls get there hair made up like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Bowtique.

London Waterfront:

12- Golden Crown Bar and Pub. (FS, L, D, Unique). A pub that serves many different dishes and signature drinks.

13- The London Eye. (Shop, Unique). A shop that has a lot of different London-specific merchandise.

14- Big Ben. (Shop, Unique). Another shop that has a Big Ben theme. This shop also houses a small museum with the history of Big Ben. The exterior had Big Ben as the main entrance.

15- British Beer Company. (FS, L, D). A great restaurant that can be found in many other places.

16- Doctor Who's Tardis. (Shop, Unique). A merchandise location that has many different kinds of Doctor Who merchandise.

17- Dr. Watson's Jewelry. (Shop, Unique). This is a jewelry store that has a many different types of beautiful merchandise. You can get Disney or London themed charm bracelets or even Disney watches and necklaces. The theme is a museum that has many valuable jewels in which a crime was committed and Sherlock Holmes is solving the mystery.

18- Art of Disney. (Shop). The same as WDW but with a London theme.

19- Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop. (Shop). The same as in WDW but with a London theme.

Not Numbered- Boat rides. (Venue). The small dock on the lagoon takes you on a boat ride around the lagoon in between the fountain show/display. I apologize for messing up on my numbering. ;)

20- Earl of Sandwich. (QS, L, S, D). The same as WDW and Disneyland, but with a different layout, facade and interior to fit with the London theme.

21- House of London: Bakery and Cafe. (QS, B, S, Unique). This is a bakery that serves many favorite Disney delights such as the famed Main Street Bakery cinnamon rolls to English scones and pastries.

22- London Chocolate Cremery. (QS, S, Unique). This is a classy chocolate and candy store that has many different kinds of sweets for you to enjoy.

Newbury Street:

23- Vera Bradley. (Shop, Unique). Everyone's favorite bags and purses with a Disney twist. This store is branching off of the Vera Bradley section of The World of Disney store at WDW.

24- Stephanie's on Newbury. (FS, B, L, D). The same as the one on the actual Newbury street. Also offers brunch on the weekends.

25- Starbucks. (QS, B, S). The same as a normal Starbucks.

26- Once upon a toy. (Store). Similar to the one at WDW but with an appropriate facade for the theme of Newbury Street.

27- Ben and Jerry's. (Store). The same as the Ben and Jerry's on the actual Newbury Street but with a larger seating and ordering area. There will also be no creepy mannequins in the window.;)

28- Boston Book Post. (Store, Unique). A book store with all of your favorite Disney tales.

29- Newbury Spa and Salon. (Store, Unique). A nice spa and salon to get all pretty at for your nice meal.

30- Joe's American Grill- The same as it's Newbury street counterpart but without the bar there onstage in order to keep it family-friendly. The waitstaff will still be able to make alcoholic drinks though.

Thanks for viewing my Challenge 3 proposal!

Chili's
Hello everyone! I am a bit late to the competition, but thanks to @Zweiland I am glad to be here. Thanks again for the opportunity. I'll get started right away.

Challenge 1 - Getting Started

The year was 2022.

With the recent success of Pandora in Animal Kingdom, Shanghai Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe making billions of dollars with their films, The Walt Disney Company is riding high and looking to expand yet again. With rising fuel prices in the new decade, and the already skyrocketed airline costs, long-distance flights have become astronomically expensive. It has become increasingly difficult for families to afford vacations in exotic locations, let alone pay for the flight to get there.

Therefore, the Walt Disney Company announces a monumental project that will re-imagine the very fabric of the Disney vacation. The Disney property will be expanding to the airline business, coining the name "Walt Disney Airways," and offering affordable, non-stop flights to their newest vacation destination:

Disney's Hawaiian Resort.

Located on coast of the Island of Maui, Disney acquires 20,000 acres of non-developed real estate to the south of the historic town of Paia. In addition, Disney purchases the Kuhukui Airport in the northwest corner of the development. The rights to the Kuhukui Airport (now known as Walt Disney-Kuhukui Airport) denotes that Walt Disney Airlines flights will be able to fly non-stop from most destinations throughout the world for a discounted price compared to competition airlines such as United, Southwest, etc. In 2022, Walt Disney Airlines will only fly to the Hawaiian Resort, which is opening in 2026, however they could expand to destinations around the world in the near future.

paiatown.jpg

Aerial view of the 20,000 acres purchased by the Walt Disney Company to house the future location of Disney's Hawaiian Resort. Town of Paia seen on the coast.

Disney Hawaii.....JPG

The above image is an overhead view of Disney's Hawaiian Resort, with each location numbered, named, and the year in which it was built.

Walt Disney World did not build 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, recreation, shopping, hotels, etc all at once. It has been done over years, decades... Therefore, trying to be as realistic as possible, I have developed the time table for construction from Disney's Hawaiian Resort's opening in 2026 till the "present day" of 2044. As can be seen in the picture above, there is still more room for expansion if further challenges require further additions.

1) Walt Disney-Kahului Airport (2026)
A re-designed state of the art airport to welcome guests from all over the world to Disney's Hawaiian Resort. Guests can access resort taxis, buses, rental cars, and monorail service to take them throughout the resort. Rates on airline range from $100-600 per person round-trip

2) Disney Cruise Line Port (2028)
Following the big announcement of the Hawaiian Resort, Disney states that a new fleet of Disney Cruise Liners will dock in Aloha Harbor in 2028. The 3 new ships will take guests on a variety of different Cruise/Resort vacation opportunities, including cruises to and from New Zealand, Australia, San Francisco, and the other Hawaiian Islands.

3) Transportation Center (2026)
The main hub for monorail, bus, and taxi service throughout the resort. Attached to the airport via shuttle service. Parking lot accessible.

4) The Village Farms Golf Course (2026)
This 18-hole golf course is for resort and Maui residents and features some of the best golf in the country. The PGA tour began playing here in 2034.

5) Pineapple Commons (2029)
The center for shopping, restaurants, and night-time entertainment.

6) Disney's Aloha Resort (2026)
A moderate resort that offers the luxuries of a Hawaiian vacation. Includes 2 restaurants and a fast food facility. 2 pools. Health Club. Arcade. A walkway into Disney's Paradise Island Park. Rooms sleep up to 5. Includes suites up to 7.

7) Disney's Grand Hawaiian Resort and Spa (2026)
A deluxe resort that lives up to the deluxe reputation. This resort features 5 restaurants including 2 fine dining exclusive restaurants, and a fast food facility. It also has one giant pool with 2 quiet pools. Tennis Courts. Volleyball. A walkway to the Village Farms Golf Course and Disney's Hawaiian Adventure Park. A full-service spa and health club. Monorail and bus transportation. Rooms sleep up to 5. Suites sleep up to 9. DVC added in 2030. Suites for DVC sleep up to 12.

8) Disney's Paradise Island Park (2034)
Disney's Hawaiian Resort's 2nd theme park due to popular demand of the original park. Paradise Island is connected to Hawaiian Adventure Park via Zip Line and Chairlift. Paradise Island features 34 attractions including roller-coasters, 4D simulators, dark rides, water-based rides, walk-through trails, and much more.

9) Disney's Maui Resort and Spa (2034)
Opening with Disney's Paradise Island Park, this deluxe resort features a grand ceremonial house including waterfalls, tropical plants, and a boat ride throughout the hotel property. The resort includes 4 restaurants with 3 fine-dining options, a fast food facility, tennis courts, 3 pools, a health club and spa, jogging trails, bicycle rentals, arcade, and transportation via bus throughout the resort. Rooms sleep up to 5. Suites sleep 6. DVC added in 2034. Suites sleep up to 12.

10) Disney's Hawaiian Adventure Park (2026)
The original theme park houses 54 Hawaiian-based attractions with the Disney touch. You can ride a roller-coaster through a volcano, travel back in time to Pearl Harbor, explore the Pineapple farm, and learn about the history of the islands. You can also take an adventure with Indiana Jones in the Journey of the Forgotten Tomb, travel to the depths of the underwater city Atlantis, and encounter the mythological creatures of Maui.

11) Disney's Cloud 9 Resort (2036)
This deluxe resort is themed to hotel in the sky. All rooms have windows that act as projections to display clouds as if you are floating in the sky. The resort features 3 restaurants, 1 fine-dining, a fast food facility, an arcade, 2 pools, a heath club, transportation via bus throughout property. Rooms sleep 5. Suites sleep 6.

12) Disney's Island of Treasures Park (2044)
This theme park due to popular demand explores the past, present, and future of Disney. Though this is not your usual theme park. It is divided into three areas. The Past includes attractions about Walt Disney, and extinct attractions such as World of Motion and Horizons. The Present includes exhibits, comparable to an old New York World's fair, except the exhibits are Pixar, ESPN, and Marvel. The Future area displays new ride technologies and innovations that Disney is facilitating to a greater tomorrow. The park has 37 attractions.

13) Volcano Ventures Water Park (2044)
Designed around an inactive volcano, there are 16 water slides to choose from including a 140 foot plunge to the bottom of the volcano.

14) Lilo and Stitch Resort (2026)
This value resort is broken up into 4 buildings and themed to the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch. There are 4 pools, an arcade, a fast food facility, transportation via buses throughout the resort. Rooms sleep 4. Family Suites sleep 8 people.

15) Monorail (2026)
Mark VII monorails ride on a 4.7 mile journey throughout the resort, making station stops at the Transportation Center, Disney's Grand Hawaiian Resort and Spa, Disney's Hawaiian Adventure Park, and Disney's Island of Treasures Park. There is also an express service on a separate line from the Transportation Center to Disney's Hawaiian Adventure Park.

That is my Challenge 1. Thanks so much for reading. Challenges 2 and 3 will be up tomorrow.

CHALLENGE 4: FIVE STAR SERVICE

Okay, here’s the long-awaited Challenge 4!

[Sometimes it’s hard to differentiate between the resort hotels and the entire resort, so I added the word “hotel” in parentheses as necessary.]

GOAL: Pick one of your (hotel) resorts and tell me all about it! Make me feel like I’m actually staying there.

WHAT YOU NEED:
-A theme. You can choose one of the themes of the (hotel) resorts you came up with in Challenge 1 if you want, but you could also come up with something entirely new! Just make sure to show me where on the map the resort is if you haven’t already.
-Map of the entire (hotel) resort complex
-Two or more pictures of different types of room layouts
-A sample menu of a restaurant in the (hotel) resort
-Details, details, details! Elaborate as much as you can on everything for this challenge. Try and find some stock photos online that will help me get a feel for your (hotel) resort, if you can.

BUT HERE’S THE CATCH:
This challenge is arguably the one where you have to provide the most details. It would ideally be a great time to use photos, but I want to see your creative writing. So there’s a 3 photo limit, NOT INCLUDING THE MAP AND ROOM LAYOUT PICTURES.

You’re welcome to find any loopholes you want. Good luck!

Due date Friday, Feb. 28, at midnight ET

Welcome to Disney's Italian Resort and Villas!

*Note: Disney's Italian Resort and Villas is now a deluxe resort.

This is the perfect place to stay for the vacation of a lifetime! Here at Disney's Italian Resort and Villas you can stay in one of 900 rooms or 45 individual villas. Themed after the beautiful country of Italy and it's rich history and architecture, immerse yourself and your family in YOUR Italian dream vacation. The Resort is made up of 5 different buildings, a system of rivers and waterways, a central courtyard, a separated section of villas, and many walkways connecting everything to everyone. Access to the Disneyland Resort's main esplanade is very simple and easy! Just hop in a gondola or stroll down a river-side pathway. Disney's Italian Resort and Villas is also home to one of the fine dining options at the Disneyland Resort. Named Diporto, (this mean pleasure in Italian), this Italian Restaurant is famous for their devine dishes and exquisite entrees. Come to Disney's Italian Resort and Villas for the vacation of a lifetime!

Location:

Disney's Italian Resort and Villas is located between Disneyland Park and Discovery Gates. It is currently on the map that I posted in Challenge 1. It is a very short walk away from the main esplanade but can also be reached by Water Taxi and gondola. There are many perks to having the rest of the resort just a stroll away. Tired? Come back to your resort for a mid-afternoon break. No waiting for buses or monorails in the early morning hours! And to cap it all off, rooms at Disney's Italian Resort and Villas provide phenomenal views of the parks as well as their respective nighttime spectaculars. From the comforts of your resort room, watch Dreams Do Come True: a nighttime spectacular in the sky at Disneyland Park or Adventure! in Discovery Gates theme park. Disney's Italian Resort and Villas' location is only one ingredient to make it one of the best resort hotels in the World.

Layout:

This resort consists of 5 main buildings and the villas. (See map below). In front of the descriptions will be the name, which is in Italian. In parentheses will be the translation into English.

Inizio e Fine (Beginning and End): The first building is the main lobby. This building will make the first impression on the guests as the first arrive. With high ceilings and beautiful architecture, it will create that Welcome Home feeling everyone gets when they walk into their Disney resort. This building also holds the gift shop and Divertimento, the resort's signature restaurant.
Lusso (Luxury): This is the building with the suites that are slightly more expensive but far more spacious. These rooms face either the pool courtyard or the Discovery Gates theme park. The latter provides spectacular views of Adventure! a daily nighttime spectacular in the Discovery lagoon. This building is 4 stories tall and is the closest building to the main lobby.
Divermento (Pleasure): This building is the smallest of them all, but also provides phenomenal views of the resort's private lagoon. These rooms are the standard size and the building is 2 stories high.
Bellezza (Beauty): This building is opposite Building 3 on the lagoon and also provides amazing views of the resort lagoon. At 5 stories tall, this building is also the tallest and houses the standard room size.
Famiglia (Family): This is the building that most people want to stay at when they book their stay at Disney's Italian Resort and Villas. The reason is that right next door is Disneyland Park. The outer side of the building will provide with phenomenal views of Dreams: A nighttime spectacular in the sky. These rooms are the medium size and the building is 4 stories tall. This building is right behind Adventureland and the theme will blend nicely.
Villas: There are three main areas of villas. These areas are themed after different parts of Italty. The largest of them, Venice, is the main Villa park of the resort. Rome and Ancient Pompeii are the smaller Villa Parks and will immerse you in a vacation experience like no other.
Pool Courtyard: This is the central point of the resort and is home to the resort's pool. This pool has a slanted entry so that way children can play in the water at the perfect depth for them! Next to the Pool will be a smaller splash zone for the little toddlers who do not want to get in the bigger pool with their brothers and sisters. Off to the side of the pool courtyard is the resort's water slide. Named the AquaDuct, this water slide travels up, down and all around on an exciting adventure! Themed after the ancient Roman waterways in the sky, this water slide will blend right in with it's surroundings.
