Patience.

And Pandora will make that seem like a mall food court.

IMO.

In honesty, not really. It seems spectacular until you realise they have put everything into the Tree and M&G's and not enough on a real E-ticket to blow us away. I think EE was the last real one that did it for me in AK. Dinosaur is a sad shadow of it's former self... Heck, my daughter didn't even know the dinosaur we were stealing was from a movie until I pointed it out to her one trip. The Carnival has always been out of place and Walt would be massively angry at it. Themed right or not. Kali has show effects that don't work anymore and guests are none the wiser. Nor do they get the story being told. They just like getting wet. KS feels weird without the poachers around anymore. Though, I don't miss Ms Jobson.

They'd rather wow you with effects now in the parks then give you a real experience. Give you something to talk about when you get home. When I visited EPCOT Centre when I was young, and was there opening day for MGM Studios there was something special. The experience I got was real and connected with me. The current management has been doing this so much. And cut backs are starting to have a real effect in the parks. I was laid off last year from a vital department that has been shrinking more and more. I wish I could go into details on all the things I noticed in the offices. But, that's a brick wall around here we have all been yelling at.

When I worked the Bone Yard as my first job ever at Disney, I remember the biggest thing I was told was to give the guests a real experience. That when they were in the bone yard, they were in a desert location helping dig up dinos. I recently asked a CM at the Bone Yard what they story of the BY was and all they could tell me was that it was a play spot for the kids. Argh!

As long as the Disney management can get away with cheapening effects, cheapening the experience, and getting the most out of your wallet then they will. They need a real CEO who gives a darn to get in there and not lessen people's experiences. Argh. Rant over.

There's another ride in the back of that pic too, a copy of Jumpin' Jellyfish, from DCA's Paradise Pier. Also a Mermaid stage show, and a gift shop inside a giant whale. Plus a fourth spinner, Scuttle's Scooters that is outside the building along the canal, as seen in the photo shown above. And a version of Gadget's Go Coaster themed to Mermaid, cloned from Toontown.

Tokyo Disney Resort doesn't have the Omnimover Mermaid ride that DCA and MK have. Instead it has this indoor/outdoor land with five small carnival rides collected from various American parks. Themed to "Under The Sea".

It seems to me that they made a mistake in drawing inspiration from Mermaid Lagoon in designing the new ride. You'll notice when you're wandering about Triton's Kingdom that the aesthetics are very similar to the "Under the Sea" scene from AUE--'decorated' as opposed to themed (which most people agree works in ML due to it's nature as a kiddie land). They really misjudged expectations though because contrary to what they anticipated, people don't buy that kind of designing on a major ride. Who woulda thought?!

That graph largely does nothing for me. Some recalls (most for foreign makes) are out of "just incase to be on the safe side" that are not really needed.

Hmmm....like the Toyota massive recall for unintended acceleration? And the over the top lawsuits? Is that the foreign recall you're talking about?

(most for foreign makes) are out of "just incase to be on the safe side" that are not really needed.

I'd like the Source please.

Has anyone here read this?

http://micechat.com/77851-marvel-at-disneyland-resort/

After reading it just now, I get the impression that the company is totally incompetent. Not having a handle on things in Shanghai, Star Wars taking over Toontown (which makes not even one iota of sense), etc.

It may be that this information is not entirely factual. If that's the case, Micechat is the incompetent one for spread false information. In which case, I hope it is the later, not the other way around.

So, Frozen gets announced today. I won't take credit for breaking that news as many people had it. I will take full credit for vetting it and saying what it would and would not be (right down to budget and who was working on it).

FW has been dead since last century. Now, Disney can go ahead and kill WS as well. Walmarting is the word. But since this isn't a surprise at all, I don't want to talk about it.

For me, EPCOT hasn't been the same since Imagination, Horizons and WoL all shuttered within quick succession. I realize the lower caliber of guests may not know or not care, just as their limited tastes and limited understanding of what made EPCOT (and WDW) special is something I have zero desire to waste life debating. You can think Burger King makes the best burger, Chevy makes the best auto and you can find whatever you need to live at the Walmart. And I can think what I think ... so ...

How about we talk about what is almost assuredly the next BIG thing at TDR (btw, they have a great new Halloween Parade, included with admission, at TDL ... and new shows at TDS for the season ... and WDW has upcharge events within upcharge events and thinks swapping out a few foamheads is something to crow about ... hey, Phil, those WDW decorations that you've been using for OVER a decade now are beyond tired even if your bread and butter rube guests don't know any better!)

Oh, yeah, we were talking about a pitch to OLC. Think E-Ticket. Think huge show building themed to ice castle. Think sleds and a ride system that isn't being used at WDW now and not planned to be in any future expansion. Think a smaller flat ride. Think of themed dining under a constant aurora filled sky. Think opening by 2018. ... Yes, think what I mentioned as my armchair Imagineering for a possible way of bringing Frozen to the MK a while back. Because that IS what is almost assuredly coming to the best run, highest quality Disney resort in the world. Oh, and parts of this may well wind up at SDL as well ... down the road.

Just to be clear, because I am dealing with end of life arrangements right now and may not be, the above isn't me saying 'well, imagine this ...' ... Nope, this is about as close as can be to being the next big and unique thing coming to TDR.

But hey, y'all love going to WDW to take part in singalongs, right? We know @Lee does!

I am truly beyond disgusted by WDW Social Media's attempts to silence people who express their disgust with this move. I'd put people's work cell phone numbers out here, but they'd likely disappear. ... But to Leanne and her flackeys ... Thomas Smith, Gary Buchanan and Dr. Jennifer Fickley Baker, what you are doing truly is vile. Afraid of the truth any?

Anyway, that rant actually felt healthy compared to what I've been ranting about in the real world.

And thanks to all for the kind thoughts, notes and PMs during a truly sad time. There are some wonderful and MAGICal Spirits here.

This is the best news all day. It truly shows what they think of us here in Florida and how different it is over there. Now I REALLY have to get to Tokyo, probably around the time or after this opens.

Hey, man up to it! And take credit where credit is due! News is news and doesn't require the approval of the reporter! You gave us the news before they announced it and much kudos goes out to you because of that! YOU get all the credit for reporting it. For that, you have every right to gloat about!

How the **** does TDO not think of the money that could be made if they built a Frozen E ticket and a Frozen dining experience INSIDE Elsa's castle?! They would immediately see returning profits. TDO must be the stupidest group of executives on this planet

Let me let you in on a misnomer here.

Orlando has no local control.

TDO is very misleading. Everything is Tom Skaggs. All the decisions start and end with him. George K & co are just driving the bus, so to speak.

So if you wanna yell, yell at the right people.

I did confirm that maelstrom had the worst guest satisfaction metric that they use.

I did confirm that maelstrom had the worst guest satisfaction metric that they use.

Really? Can't say Maelstrom was in my top range of satisfaction but it certainly wasn't among the lowest attractions. Wonder when those statistics were formulated and by who? The days after deciding to go forward with the overlay? I do not doubt it is confirmed, I do question the methodology.
