The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

Um ... I don't know what you expect me to say. I respect the poster greatly, but we all get things wrong or are fed things to suit agendas from time to time.

I stand by what I posted as I know it to be true.

On this point with Nick Franklin, I must do the same.

This guy left on his own and all corporate gossip that speaks to the contrary is being thrown out there intentionally.

I have no disagreement with Spirit on any other point, but on this one I do know the full story is not being circulated. And I DO NOT believe Spirit is the person leaving information out at all. The gossip going around is wrong.

Well.... At best this is a failed attempt at humor and ending up culturally insensitive.

But IMO it's just racist.

I know you asked us to be patient when it comes to more info on HKDL's Second Gate, but could you tell us more about the changes in ownership stakes at Hong Kong International Theme Parks?

To me the bigger question is what else did they plan to do with Maelstrom? I hear it was on the redevelopment block long before "Let It Go" was written. More vikings? More trolls?

Maelstrom has needed a refurb for a long time, so like I posted in the other thread:

In fact, it is quite the opposite, Maelstrom is in need of a refurb, it is almost 26 years old and there has been quite of few changes to the queue lines and guest access. The biggest problem right now is that load and unload are in different location, so when people leave their ECV's or wheelchairs then they have to relocate them to unload so the handicap hallway is also used as the fast pass line, so they have to close the fast pass line to allow them to move all the ECV's and wheelchairs to unload and then reopen the fast pass line. Also it gets crowded at load with many ECV's so it also makes difficult to move around the area and especially if you are trying to get to the tower.

So if they turn into a Frozen ride then all of a sudden they have a lot of money to the refurb, a lot of things need to be changed and updated.

So their current plan is to do a total reconfiguration of the ride path downstairs, move the load area to the current unload area so the load/unload will be in the same place and get rid of the theater to make room for more queue lines, so making the current load area the first scene so effectively making the ride longer before you even go up the upramp.

Honestly is anyone really surprised over a character/movie based overlay is going to take over a ride? Seeing how the MAJORITY of people who go to the parks would eat it up, it was almost a given. WE may not approve, but we are a slim minority in the grand scheme of things. Disney moms and first time/one time visitors from all over the world will have their minds blown by this...and thats who matters. EPCOT is long dead, Epcot is what we have now, and its only going to get worse for those of us who care.

The irony of this to ME is that they moved the princesses to MK partially due to people having to wait outside 4 hours in the blistering sun while waiting, but my memory may be fuzzy (I was only there a few days ago), but Maelstrom has a REALLY short indoor portion of a que. Even if they re-routed it to utilize the now wasted space where the FP machines were, you are only adding like..maybe enough space for 50 people? Even less if they inevitably make it easier for ECVs to navigate. Maybe they'll sell snowcones nearby.

I don't think Seas was done half--rsed. I was quite impressed with it, given the budget they had to work with!
Given the budget they had to work with, they could have at least moved some of the fake coral and cartoons out the way so you can see into the world's second largest aquarium for more than a couple of windows...and I dunno...maybe they still could have made the ride somewhat educational instead of a cheap ripoff of what the submarine ride has become at DL.

The Great Movie Ride would work. It needs updating. They could have just put it in there with some other Disney stuff and it would work.

It would be sort of odd, though, mixing "human" animatronics based on real actors with CGI cartoons characters

OK, this is sounding a little more promising.
I hadn't considered the possibility of converting the load station into additional show scenes.

This reminds me of times when a head football coach quits his job..... to take an assistant job with another team.

My interpretation of what's been reported is that he, out of his own free will, told them he's leaving - with full knowledge that he was a goner anyway...

Losing Maelstrom for a cheap overlay is one thing, but the Spirit of Norway, too?:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Ignoring the debate about Frozen for the ride, this actually sounds like a pretty good way to update and upgrade the ride. The post-ride movie is pretty much ignored and is a lot of space that could help with an indoor queue and using the current load queue for an additional show scene -- which seems plausible -- would be a nice upgrade for the ride and help the complaints about it being short.

Am I missing something, how is mentioning another language racist?

Yeah, I don't see it. All of the dwarfs in the movie seem to speak English (or don't speak at all) exclusively. It's just a joke about how we don't know of any Spanish speaking dwarfs.

Now if they said something like "Disney apparently found Migrant Worker Dwarf to do the Spanish instructions in the queue", that would be racist. Y'know, actually picking on an established negative stereotype.
