Trip Report Our Tours - The Adventures Continue!

Greetings everyone! I haven't made one of these in a long time, but given the exciting circumstances I thought it would be fun to share and chronicle along the way. :)

About two years ago, @MonorailRed and myself became good friends on an Imagineer forum competition, working on the same team and designing a variety of projects. Red is a very talented artist and I tend to sway towards writing roles, so the styles and teamwork fit perfectly.

Chatting for about a year or so after that, we discovered that we'd be in Walt Disney World at the same time! So we planned a meet up last August, and were able to travel around to all 4 parks and both water parks, meeting each others families, etc.

It was a great trip with an even greater person! And throughout this past year, our friendship and bond/connection has grown even stronger, despite finishing up schooling in the interim about 900 miles away. Fortunately, I saved up enough and I was able to travel down to Florida to visit Red for a 4-day trip at Port Orleans French Quarter just a few weeks ago, and it was even better than the Disney trip last year. We officially started dating!

(Who knew that wdwmagic.com would turn into wdwmatch.com? :joyfull:)

I'm pleased to say that I'm very lucky to travel back to Disney in just another two weeks, with a stay from August 14th till the 21st with the family!

One of the goals we set out when traveling around the parks and resorts is going to attractions/locations that sometimes go overlooked when rushing around to hit all the top attractions. For instance the train room at the Boulder Ridge Villas at the Wilderness Lodge, or the small dole whip station at the Polynesian, or the Peoplemover/Carousel of Progress (two of our favorites). If anyone has any suggestions of 'off the beaten path' places around WDW that you enjoy, it'd be great to hear about them and maybe we can try them on the upcoming trip!

We also like searching for hidden mickeys throughout property, so if anyone has a particular hidden mickey they like, I'd be glad to hear it (I'm sure Red will as well, but she doesn't know I'm making this thread yet - so she will be surprised:p)

That's about it for now - excited for August and thanks for reading! The Adventures Continue Aug 14th!

Sadly they've mostly been removed. Such a shame because that pavilion has much more potential than just a Festival Center:bookworm:

I was in there back in May, for the Flower and Garden Festival. Hadn't been inside since they got rid of the WOL attraction some years ago. It is kinda odd in there now, knowing what it was, and how they (presently) just quickly fill it with festival related merchandise and appearance stages. Then they lock it up again until some next festival comes along. Baffling, to say the least.

By the way, I love your drawings that @spacemt354 shared with all here. His drawings are also very nice indeed.

Thank you for the kind words!:)

One of my goals is to get to Epcot eventually for one of the festivals, just to be able to walk inside WoL - I went in when I was much younger, but I don't remember much. Just for the sake of saying I did it:p Glad Red was able to go

Should be posting the finale to the trip (and update on the possible next trip) - sometime tonight!

Ahh...so sorry I wasn't able to post the finale yesterday or today:oops: -- with the Hurricane coming for Florida I was a bit concerned with Red being down there by herself. After hours of searching, we finally got her a flight for the weekend- so she will be coming to stay with me up north! Which on one hand is exciting - but hoping Irma isn't too bad for Florida.

I should be able to get to the final post tomorrow - and maybe with some updates when Red gets in and safe from the storm!

DAY 6 - THE ROCKING CHAIR TOUR
(Part 2)

I was scrambling looking for the pictures to the Magic Kingdom, then I remembered my phone didn't have enough battery so there were no pictures - but suffice it to say we toured the MK for the (second) to last time of the trip! Just taking in the ambiance and even walking through the more quiet and scenic areas of Frontierland.

After the Magic Kingdom, we took the monorail to Epcot -- and after having a quick bite to eat at the Rose and Crown Pub, walked over to Hollywood Studios around 7:30pm. It was just after a rainshower too so the air temp was cooler and dusk was settling in -- the perfect time to ride....

and we were able to squeeze Rock n Roller Coaster in before leaving just in time to watch the Star Wars Fireworks as we walked back to the Epcot Resort Area.

Before making an abrupt 180 turn and realizing that we had some time to squeeze in one last trip to the Magic Kingdom, so we took the bus to the Poly, adding another 'rocking chair destination' to the day!

I've warmed up to the Poly Lobby - for a while I didn't like the refurb, I much preferred the waterfall, but it's gotten better over the years and looking up from the first floor is very relaxing.

And stopped over in the Magic Kingdom and did one final ride - Buzz Lightyear!

Much to Red's chagrin...I casually won:hilarious: Though I didn't rub it in too much as I think Buzz is very subjective, whereas Toy Story you can see where you are shooting and the tally is much more obvious and accurate. Oh well.. just another excuse to come back!

Overall - a fantastic trip! Couldn't describe it any other way...Coronado was great, parks was great - and most importantly, the company was great! Can't wait to return!

Sorry for the lack of update on this above - but sometimes being away from the internet can be a positive thing! And in this case it was because after picking up Red at the airport last Friday we had a wonderful time as she escaped Irma in the NJ/NY area.

Able to take a trip over on a beautiful 70 degree day in NYC (where Red had never been) where I got to be a tourist :joyfull:

Just finished dropping her off at the airport heading back to Florida - but the week was really fun and great quality time turning a rough situation with Irma into a very nice (unexpected) trip!
