New pyro product test for Reflections of Earth

Not missing, deleted. They are not environmentally friendly and there was no suitable replacement.

With the exception of the air-launched shells (which might be a little better), are ANY fireworks "environmentally friendly"?

Out of the hundreds of fireworks shells launched nightly at WDW, why would a handful of screamers make a difference environmentally?

It's a shame because I think they are crucial element of the show.

Changes were made to the fireworks because Disney wanted to go green with the chemical compound inside the pyro. This results in the colors losing some of their brilliance. Magic Kingdom has already switched to "green pyro" with Wishes.

What? There are lasers in Illuminations? :)

Yes really powerful HeNe (red) lasers they are mounted on the buildings at WS, Look up at the end of the show and you will see 'Siemens' on SSE this is written with the lasers which also have their own show if you look up during last 1/3 of show.

But there ARE no environmentally friendly fireworks, If you want it green go with a laser show, trouble is then you need C02 smoke...

That is part of going green, they have been replacing the fireworks with replacement "green" pyro products some are like one-tenth of the same chemical as before. There is no "green" replacement for the screamers.

Actually more likely a krypton laser, but not trying to nitpick :)

A HeKr laser is 470 nm closer to blue HeNe is 660 nm red, Has Disney changed the laser I seem to recall siemens being in red but have not seen illuminations recently so...

Holiday and Hallo both had serious supply issues. I believe as Hallo progressed through the weeks the shows got.... unique.... compared to previous nights.

My gosh -- I noticed what you describe in 2013 with HalloWishes. Thought I was losing it, or some kind of short term nostalgia. But indeed the 9/10 party fireworks were simply WOW, jaw-dropping amazing, guests and CMs alike Oooh-ing, Ahhh-ing the whole time. Wish I was any good at making video on that night.
Whereas the 9/27 party, not so much, half as many Ooohs. (Of course I saw Villains day fireworks in between there, thought maybe it jarred my perspective. I still smell that powder and smoke from 9/13 !)

Ok.

Just like Iger's desire to turn the steam trains to diesel engines is an effort to be "green" (green earth, or green cash ... there, I said it ;))

FYI about laser colors

Krypton Lasers are Red
Argon Lasers are Green
You've got it right.

To be precise, Ar Ion Laser have a green line and a blue line - I've used them.

And as Ford 91 said, a HeNe is red, but they are low power. So I'm pretty sure that they use the Kr laser for red. The gas lasers are old technology and require a lot of tender, loving care. Anyone who has cleaned and aligned Ar Ion mirrors knows the meaning of patience. They combined the hazards of a beam that can burn through a retina, cooling water at a few gallons per minute, and high voltage. Not for the faint-of-heart.

Now the lasers in DCA used for World of Color are amazing because they have a full range of colors (so called "white light lasers"). I think that is what Marni is pining for. Newer technology lasers are solid state and are pretty much turn-key.

An old laser booth pic from Epcot is here. The rust colored item on the right is a Coherent high-power Ar Ion Lasers. The black end of the device in the foreground has an inlet for water and power (the whiteish hose in the bottom) and the black thingie with two whitish knobs is a laser mirror. The knobs are used to align the mirror.

Check here for even more details.
