Pre-Trip Keeping My Fingers Crossed for June 2016

It's time to pull out the planning binder again!!

As of right now, we have:

"We" is me, Amy, my husband,Brian, and our three kids, Logan, Lily, and Owen. Here we are from the last trip we all took together in October 2011:

We have all been since then, just not at the same time!
Owen and I went with my mom in Dec. 2012.

And Brian and I went for my 40th birthday in November 2013.

Then the kids and I went to the parks and on a cruise in June 2014 with my parents and my brother's family.

And finally, Brian and I went on a cruise and to MK last October.

We've had a lot of upheaval recently, so we are not 100% sure we will be taking this trip, but I am being optimistic at this point!! However, we are not telling the kids until we know for sure. It is killing me to not be able to openly plan this trip!!
We have booked a 5 person room at Caribbean Beach Resort June 3-11, 2016. Brian and I honeymooned in the Jamaica section back in 1998, and we are hoping to stay there again!

I know there is a lot of hate for CBR on here, but we loved it on our honeymoon and Owen and I loved the pirate rooms on our 2012 trip, so I am really excited that they finally have rooms that have queen sized beds and sleep 5!! I figure we will take advantage this time, as next time we go we will need more than 1 bathroom, and Owen will be too big to sleep in the murphy bed!

We are obviously too far out to have any set plans yet, but you better believe that I already have the whole trip planned out in my head!!! We are going to spend our arrival day at the pool, hopefully have dinner at 'Ohana, and spend the evening at Downtown Disney/Disney Springs. We will have 2 days at MK, 2 days at Epcot, 1 day at AK, 1 day at DHS, and go to Typhoon Lagoon the remaining day during the week with a possible evening in MK. I still haven't decided how to spend departure day. A lot will depend on the timing of our flight. We will likely have breakfast at 'Ohana, then do some miniature golfing before returning to the airport, but we may hit a park if time allows. Dining plans include: 'Ohana (breakfast and dinner), Crystal Palace breakfast, Akershus breakfast, Garden Grill dinner, Tusker House breakfast, Mama Melrose Fantasmic! package, and 1900 Park Fare. I believe that we will be there during Star Wars weekends. I have no desire to fight the crowds during the weekend, but I'm hoping they will have the special dining during the week again, and I will try to schedule one or both of the character dining experiences for us. I'm also hoping to try to fit in the new Adventureland Veranda restaurant at MK. Also excited that the new night show will be open at AK. I don't really care, but Lily will be excited that the new Frozen ride should be open too.
I can't wait to share the plans with you all as they get firmed up!!

I got my new luggage today!!

The Mickey ones are for me, and the Minnie polka dot one is for Lily. She outgrew her little Princess one she had previously, and has been begging for a new one. I will work these into the surprise trip reveal somehow. Talk about hard to hide from the kids!! Of course, they couldn't come while they were at school! UPS delivers really late in our neighborhood. And they think they have to know what is in every package that gets delivered!!

My daughter and I just saw the Minnie suitcase at the outlet mall! We both fell in love with it but decided our current bags are still fine to use :grumpy:!
It worked out well for me when I found these, as I had just been telling Brian that we needed to get some new luggage to replace the set we got as a wedding gift 17 years ago. It was from Lands End, and served us well, but it had been through airports a few too many times!!

Congrats on the new luggage. Do you think my dh would get mad if I ran over my ugly but function set over with the car a few times?

Love the new luggage. Too bad my luggage is still in good shape. Would love to get Disney themed for my February trip. I thought I made lots of lists, but you put me to shame! Especially because my lists are still in my head and I leave way sooner than you do!!

I think that would make a grand Christmas present. I got mine from ebags.com. I waited for a 20% off code with free shipping.

Thanks! It was very convenient that our luggage was starting to show its age! I just can't help myself from making all those lists! Brian just shakes his head, or rolls his eyes, but he is very grateful when packing goes so smoothly!!

WooHoo! Just bought our plane tickets to get down to MCO! Our return date isn't available yet through Southwest. Unfortunately, there isn't a nonstop flight anymore from Dayton, so instead, we get to leave from Columbus at the ungodly hour of 5:30am!! My kids are going to hate me, but the next flight out isn't until 1pm, which is just not acceptable to me! Guess we'll just plan on getting a nap in on arrival day! The best part is that I've been selling some of my Longaberger baskets that I no longer use on ebay, and I had almost enough money saved from that to pay for the tickets!! Now I just have to figure out when they will release the rest of June so I can purchase return tickets.

Congrats! It's so much fun checking things off your Disney to do list. I was so happy when the date opened up for our hotel stay for the ride down.

FWIW, the next extension for Southwest schedule is December 8 for booking flights up til August 8.

Have you figured out what ADRs you want to make?
Yes, I know exactly which ones I want and pretty much which days I want them. I am just waiting for park hours to come out to finalize my list. We plan to do 'Ohana dinner and breakfast, Crystal Palace pre-park opening breakfast, BOG breakfast, Tusker House breakfast, Mama Melrose's Fantasmic! package for lunch or dinner, Sci-Fi breakfast if they offer the Star Wars one again, Akershus breakfast, Garden Grill lunch or dinner, and 1900 Park Fare dinner. I think that is all of them, I don't happen to have my list right in front of me and I'm too lazy to move the cat off my lap and go get it! I may try to get BOG dinner instead of 1900, but we'll see.

Thank you so much! I will go put that date on my calendar!!

Super bummed that there will be no Star Wars weekends next year!:( Now I have to rethink which days I want to visit which parks, and I may remove our 2nd evening at DHS (but I may leave it just so I can be guaranteed a ToT night time ride!!)

I think I have decided how to tell the kids about the trip. I will print out WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY IN JUNE, cut each letter apart, and have a scavenger hunt for them to find the letters, then have them figure out what they spell. Still not sure when this may happen!

206 days!! Still seems like forever, but much better than the 342 when we started!

I do it as a Christmas present with a copy of Birnbaum's. You might want to wait until the excitement of the new toys wears a bit and surprise them with one last present.

We actually thought about doing it on New Year's Day, just so they would have one last surprise before returning to school. We'll see! My problem is that Logan's birthday is Dec. 29 and Owen's is Jan.14, so we already have a lot going on right then!!

Great minds think alike!! I was just thinking this morning that Valentine's Day might be the perfect time to tell them.
or if they have a snow day around that time, we had a really bad winter before our last trip and did a Disney scavenger hunt so my boys could pack away a few things for the trip
