Disneyland Paris: Man arrested carrying two guns

French police have arrested a man carrying two guns at an entrance to a hotel at Disneyland Paris.

The man, reportedly aged 28 and not known to security services, was also discovered with a copy of the Koran and a box of ammunition, police said.

He was stopped by security teams while entering the hotel at the much-visited theme park.

France remains in a state of emergency following the deadly Islamist attacks in Paris in November last year.

So-called Islamic State said it carried out the co-ordinated assaults that left 130 people dead.

Police said they were searching for a companion travelling with the man, believed to be a woman.

Disneyland Paris is among Europe's most popular tourist destinations. About 10 million people visited in 2014, according to the Global Attractions Attendance Report.

French police are looking for a woman who was with the Paris man who was arrested with guns Thursday at a Disney hotel near Disneyland Paris, police official Michael Le Provost told CNN.

When security guards discovered the firearms, they noticed the woman was with him, but she eluded arrest, Le Provost said.

Bomb disposal experts are inspecting the man's car, Le Provost said.

A man with two firearms and ammunition was arrested Thursday at the entrance to a hotel near Disneyland Paris, police said.

The 28-year-old Paris resident was arrested as he tried to go through security at Disney's Hotel New York, said Michel Le Prevost, deputy chief of criminal police of the city of Meaux.

The man was also carrying a Quran, Le Prevost said. The man, who was being questioned by police after the arrest, was not known by police or intelligence services, Le Provost said.

Man, if there's an attack in a Disney park, chaos is easily created. Things could really go wrong there so I'm glad they could prevent something from happening.

Both stories have been updated quite a bit - but lack any real, additional info. Though they do mention "His bag triggered metal detectors as he entered the New York Hotel" and "The guns and ammunition were found when the luggage was put through an X-ray machine 'during a routine security screening checkpoint at one of our hotels.'" So not in the park or even that close by (e.g. gate).

It's a scary thought. We know that the parks could be targets, and after 9/11 I believe both WDW and Disneyland became no-fly zones. But it would be devastating if anything actually happened.

Thwarted, yay. Still it seems only a matter of time before our friends from the religion of peace succeed in a Disneyland Paris atrocity. Lord knows it's been a prime target for long enough, and it is what, already weeks?, since the last major attack.

Back to gang raping Paris tourists for now.

FWIW, Disneyland Paris official statement:

“During a routine security screening checkpoint at one of our hotels, weapons were discovered in a guest’s luggage, through our x-ray machine. The police were immediately notified and the individual was arrested. We continue to work closely with the authorities; and the safety and security of our guests and cast members is our utmost priority.”

I wondered how long until the conversation took that kind of turn
