Tom Staggs is certainly in the parks much more than his predecessors.

To be fair to his predecessors, the President of the United States visits a Disney theme park more often than Jay Rasulo or Paul Pressler ever did when they were in Staggs current role. Especially Rasulo. He could go a couple years without visiting a Disney theme park, and then it was only for a scripted media event of 30 minutes or less. Rasulo had no love or interest in Disney theme parks. It was merely a rung on a corporate ladder for him.

Tom Staggs is a relatively young man with school-aged boys. He visits Disneyland regularly with his family, for example. Of course they are escorted around by a VIP Tour Guide and never wait in any line or deal with any type of delay or hassle; the parks are their oyster and anything is made available to them instantly. But at least he gets into the parks and onto Disneyland's rides with the unwashed masses.

Although, according to Miceage Updates, Tom Staggs also gets a VIP Tour Guide to escort his extended family around the parks even though they are unknown by anyone and pose no security threat by having to wait in Standby lines or deal with Fastpass tickets and return times like the poor schleps who actually pay cash money to visit a Disney theme park. For example, last Christmas the extended Staggs family, sans Tom Staggs himself, were ushered through the exits of Radiator Springs Racers and all the rest of the popular rides at Disneyland Resort simply as a perk of being related by blood or marriage to Tom Staggs. Must be nice.

But I agree with your initial assessment; Tom Staggs is certainly in the parks more than his predecessors.

I wish he was my Dad. Or Uncle. Or cousin. Or friend. Or best friends friend. Or something. I'd love the VIP treatment... I think it would work well for me.

I'm glad that he at least goes to the California parks. That's what all execs should do on a weekly basis. I can't fathom having a theme park at your disposal and just...not...caring.. enough to have a look around. It seems so foreign to me.

Holding a membership to a fan site dedicated to a single theme park resort is probably foreign to a lot of people as well. ;)

And some may not like Staggs but at least he puts on an effort (fake or not) and actually seems to like the parks. If it's truly between him and Rasulo for Iger's replacement, I'd go hands down with Staggs, but I'm also aware he's still not an ideal choice.

He does take his family to the parks, though so does Bob. I am not sure either of them actually experience it like a guest though. If anything Tom might from time to time but likely incognito just to scope things out.

I'm no fan of Staggs but to give him the benefit of the doubt he might have just paid for the VIP treatment, exit ride access etc. for his family - it's not like they're short of cash, and it's something anyone rich can buy. Universal sells Express pass to jump the lines, Disney does too, only their's costs thousands of dollars more.

I just hope they are in the parks to look around and see what they like and don't like. To see what possible changes they need to make to improve guest satisfaction. I understand they are a business and have to profit. But you have to not let anything suffer. I know we can't have new E attractions every other year, but improvements and additons of some sort are a necessity. I am probably one of the few that even thinks, the Epcot paint job, is better than nothing. Sometimes all we need is a fresh coat of paint.
