Weren't the reports the exact opposite?

Also, I wouldn't expect the same Soarin' ride system, just with a clearer screen, that's not what's on the blueprints. Not that there's a huge difference, but it looks more to me like The Simpsons than Soarin'
love simpsons ride (could care less about simpsons maybe others should consider this) so maybe simpsons but in 3 D better visuals etc..

Nope

Though the attraction is still in its earliest development stages, Cameron has clear ideas about what he’d like any Pandoran land to include, which he shared in an interview on Tuesday.
“I definitely want to do a flight attraction of some kind,” the director said, citing the “Soarin’ Over California” flying ride at Disney’s California Adventure Park in Anaheim as a personal favorite. “Flying is a big part of the movie. One of the things people liked the most at test screenings was going up into the floating mountains in the flying sequences. We may have banshees, Leonopteryxes, maybe some other flying creatures that don’t make their appearance until the second and third films.”

Something to think about in regards to this discussion:

Seems like they need the boat ride... I can't imagine many parents would be that happy if they built an attraction that will be height restricted in a park that already is struggling. Now does this mean TDO will be smart and build said boat ride? No. But if they want to fix the park, they need more than just a height restricted E-ticket (though I support the addition of multiple E-tickets as they are what brings people in). But if there isn't a lot for the kids to do by building just 1 ride they cant go on and 1 QS/gift shop that can be found anywhere, what incentive is there for more people to go to AK? It just makes no sense and shows how poorly TDO thinks things through.

I think that if they did something like the Harry Potter ride where they mix a coaster with film that would work well for an Avatar ride, instead of something more stationary like Soarin'.

You know what would be a cool night time show that would be quiet and awesome....Start with Pandora bioluminescing and whatnot. Then, have small glowing spores start to fly off the indigenous plant life, go through the portal and land on plants around DAK causing them to light up and glow after they are "infected". Then, the condition could spread and finally the tree of life would light up in a multi-colored pageant. They could even have some pleasant ambient music piped in whilst this was going on. Of course, the additional weight of the lights would probably cause branches to rain down on guests.....

MORE NETS.Themed nets! Chuck some christmas lights over them, flip the switch when a branch falls. Viola! Problem 'solved'.

agreed..im not saying that a simpsons type attraction couldnt work but i wish the folks at TDO (Not holding breath) would push the innovative envelope a little bit because gringotts certainly will

It was said and I quote, "nothing new is coming to the MK for at least 5 years" after the plans leaked.
That "at least 5 years" thing originated on another board, and was quoted here.
For many here, the only FLE surprise was that after five or six years of development, and it being red-lighted, it was suddenly approved/revived by Burbank.

Pandora will likely come (I'd put it at 75-80%, personally), but it will be after slogging it's way through one of the most difficult development processes in recent memory. It was really touch-and-go for a while.

Now...back to the topic of progress...

Yeah, Lee. Whatcha got in terms of progress? Are we still looking at a mini land, full land? One ride, two? Eating establishments?

Is CMM being relocated or finally put to rest entirely?

IMO, even if they built the other previously planned m&g's the wait times would not change substantially. Partly for the reason you mention but also because it is what guests want.
More like the fact its a theatre show. Even with two rooms, a lengthy show by its nature keeps people waiting outside.

To think we lost another attraction for more of these...

Soo, what you're saying is we should stop posting in this thread?

Or should we discuss the lack of progress?

Can we discuss what a good / terrible idea progress is? I'm a big fan of progress, but I'm sure others will think it's the worst idea ever.

This was from the first page (although I'm not sure if you were joking about discussion about a good/bad idea). They have a whole other thread about Avatar that is more than 200 pages of complaints, thread drifts, great ideas that would never be implemented, and so on.

Just to underline this point. This thread is for SPECIFIC information and PROGRESS reports on the AVATAR project.

It IS NOT to discuss whether you agree or disagree with the concept of AVATAR being added to Animal Kingdom.

To discuss the merits of AVATAR use the original announcement thread at http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/avatar-land-coming-to-disneys-animal-kingdom.803695/
