A Spirited Perfect Ten

I know that you look at this stuff a lot so I have a question regarding this subject. Let's say that by 2020/2021, all current projects planned to happen are completed at DS, DAK, as well as what was shown - Toy Story Land and Star Wars - and not yet shown but is generally accepted as happening at DHS. Let's also throw in the Soarin' upgrades, Frozen, whatever the supposed 300 million alocated to Epcot according to the budget rumors, as well as a possible new nighttime show (or upgraded RoE show) for Epcot.

Do you think that this will impact crowd levels in the MK? Also, do you think that the presence of a 14 acre Star Wars Land at DHS alone will have the same drawing power that Harry Potter saw at UNI when it opened WWoHP and DA. I am curious to see if these changes will help alleviate the overbearing crowds at MK. We were there in July and there were some days where we had to leave MK because it wasn't enjoyable because of the crowd levels. At one point we were in TL and it was unbearable. There was a bathroom there that was so packed with people that there was simply no way that they could keep it clean.

I sometimes think that the only way they will be able to cut down on crowds at the MK is if they increase the ticket prices at certain times of the week/month or year.

It is going to have no effect on MK at all. These new additions will keep people on Disney property longer and may take a day away form MK but the additional people that will now visit will make that up easily.

MK will be drawing 24m a year when all of this is done. Just my humble opinion.

It looks like the old Carousel of Progress to Epcot thread has been deleted, presumably because a lot of the information was led by Legit. There's a person on Twitter claiming to be a CoP cast member saying that there should be changes made to the attraction overnight:
https://twitter.com/Awesomegeek21

Edit: Looks like a tweet was deleted:
View attachment 109021
He deleted it and made a new tweet that said "don't put words in my mouth" (you know, because apparently a printscreened shot of a blatantly clear tweet is considered misquoting someone). Now he's hidden all of his tweets from people who aren't following him (hope no one gets suckered into doing that). Sounds like this could well be another troll pretending to be an "insider" to get attention, per usual. Though this one outed himself by being too specific in his teasing. Reminds me of another twitter guy called ThemeParkOne (also claiming to be a cast member) who got himself a lot of attention a few years back by trolling people with fake insider information (he also got outed and lost his following by running his mouth about too many specific things that all ended up being fake).

I imagine any noticeable CoP changes would have been reported by now. And I can't see Disney management substantially changing attractions overnight anyways. It's rare to even get decent third shift maintenance work anymore, even that usually necessitates long refurbishment...

RIP Dean Jones, a staple of Disney entertainment from 1965 until the late 70s. He very much deserved his Disney Legend award.

I wonder how many people who identify as Disney fans today have even seen any of his movies?

I know I have. Dean was in both incarnations of 'That Darn Cat' it's pretty obvious that Walt liked Siamese cats considering how many movies had one starting with Si and Am in 'Lady and the Tramp'. Kind of miss the 'old' DIsney movies which can best be described as cheesy and fun.

Maybe he really is a CM at CoP and is bored so thought he could get some business to the attraction from those coming to look for changes? Don't know don't care just staying on topic and upping my post count.

Well I know there's a giant social media crackdown being pushed by leadership to get CMs to knock off the crap.

Likely he was just fearing being fired.... For posting whatever this crap is in a public forum.

Some people do not realize that when you post in Twitter or on here, the entire world can see it.

.....then there's people like me who post whatever they want and simply don't care who sees it.

So who do you think will be suckered into paying $1 Billion for Miramax?
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...s-said-to-hire-morgan-stanley-for-studio-sale

Selling Miramax, even if it wouldn't have made more films had it stayed at Disney under Iger, was one of the dumbest decisions Bob has made at the studios.

Short history lesson: The Weinstein brothers, Harvey and Bob, formed Miramax as an independent movie studio and named it after their parents, Miriam and Max. A decade later, Disney bought the company and friction soon developed over the vision of what the company should be. Ultimately, the brothers left and formed the Weinstein Company (weinsteinco.com) which has been successful. Later, Disney sold Miramax which was not the same company it had been with the Weinstein brothers.

How many times do you see that happen? Way too often a company of value gets bought out because of what it is or what the buyer thinks it can be and after the initial creators lose control to the new owners, the company no longer provides the spark that once made it special.

I tried to get my husband to do a Dean Jones category tonight at the weekly trivia contest he hosts, but he said no because he's already doing a movie category ("Quoth the Craven: Nevermore" - quotes from Wes Craven movies) and a WDW category ("I'm Going to Disney World!"). Also, he figured I'm the only Disney dork who would know the answers.

Well right now is the perfect time to go. Crowd levels bottomed out.

So am hearing from Epcot CMs, that they are adding 200 more lots to the CM lot but still are making Future World CMS park in guest parking even when the CM lot isn't full.

Parking in the Imagine lot is more convenient than the Cast lot as a Future world cast member provided you bring your costumes home with you. It's a straight shot in most cases to your work location. The entire time I worked at Epcot I parked in the Cast lot by costuming maybe 10 times and most of those were to run in to get costumes.

He exemplified the safe live action fare of the 60s. Those movies have a charm of their own. Ugly Dachshund plays like an extended sitcom, but Dean Jones makes it a comfortable way to pass 90 minutes. He was a Disney Legend far more than people like George Lucas.

Probably no different than the half dozen "Yeti's working now!!1!" reports over the years.

Disney seems to be on a roll on acquiring something 'special' and losing all the value when the key people leave, Miramax, Maker the list goes on.
