Your feelings on flash photography

I've noticed A LOT of upset over flash photography on dark rides throughout the boards. I would be lying if I said that I hadn't had the urge to flash some photos in various dark rides just to see the things that I can't normally see. I would also be lying if I said I hadn't given in during an off season ride on Seas with Nemo. My friend and I were the only people for about a six car distance so I did it. I snapped some flash photos.

So how do you really feel about flash photography on dark rides? Are there any acceptions? Perhaps like my example of being nearly alone on a ride?

They should have their flash flashed in their face 10 times and then be forced to do the opening sequence to Indian Jones stunt show.

But if no one is around to be blinded by your flash I don't have a problem with it.

Both sides of the fence, then. Well, like I said, the only time I've ever done it was right after Thanksgiving day on a ride with no one else around except my best friend (who was okay with it).

Absolutely hate it. Took my girlfriend on Nemo for the first time and had 6 people (mother and her kids) all taking flash photos the entire time - ruined it completely. I approached her after saying that Disney asks people not to do it, she replies "I didn't hear that, theyve never said that" - complete fool.

Because the ride was all but empty and I wanted to see everything that I couldn't see during the normal ride. The behind the scenes bits, if you will.

Be considerate of others, sometime you may not realize that others may actually be in the cars or boats behind you. I understand the urge to take the picture but you never really know if you are interfering with someone else’s enjoyment.

I've been on rides where my party is alone with no one around us and we still don't use it. Mainly because there are plenty of times were we'll be on a ride and think we're alone and see a distant flicker of light of someone trying it and even that pulls you out of the attraction.

Not sure if I would feel okay taking a picture if I was alone on a ride or not but I would NEVER take one on a crowded ride because I'm not a person who feels entitled that since "I" am riding this and a lot of money has been spent "I" have the right to do whatever "I" want. I follow rules if they are given or posted and, quite simply, I have common courstesy. :)

If anyone is nearby (and by nearby it means anywhere your flash is visible - that could be 10 cars away) it is annoying, takes you out of the moment, and depending how close they are, can leave spots in your eyes ruining portions of the ride.

I take photos on ride, without flash and they come out fine. I have a camera and lens that is good in dark light, though. If you do not, don't take photos. Sit back and enjoy the ride instead...it's that simple.

I may not agree with every rule in the park but I don't go around breaking them because I feel like I am entitled to to for some reason....either that it won't bother anyone, it's just one photo, I don't know how to shut my flash off or I paid for this trip and I'll take photos however I want to.

I do wish there were repercussions for flash used on rides. The only thing I have seen are people being asked to stop or an announcement being made that there is no flash photography permitted. When a CM has to ask the same person 4 times to stop taking flash photos yet it continues - something should be done about it because this person will take them on every attraction they feel like no matter how it affects those around them.

Not really sure which bothers me more. Flash photos on rides or the family of 7 cutting thru the line to "catch up with their party." I've been on these rides dozens of times but it still irks me to see the flash photos and the lights from the camcorders thru the whole ride. Most of the time when you call someone out on it, they either smart off to you or totally ignore you and continue taking pictures. I always think of who on the ride may be there for the first time and to have all these flash photos going off. So rude.

I do agree that it's really annoying on a crowded ride. In March I had someone take a flash photo right in my face as the cars were turning backwards on SSE. On that same trip I was trying to take photos on SSE (without flash) and suddenly noticed this annoying red light in my way! About ten pictures later, I realized it was coming from my camera... Needless to say, I didn't take anymore until I figured out how to make that go away. Considering the massive crowds during spring break, I was a little embarrassed.

Isn't "right after Thanksgiving Day" a Friday? Or a weekend day?

A horsewhipping, followed by the humiliation of their SAT scores being made public, is the only way to get these people to change their ways. So yes, I dislike the practice altogether.

It is beyond rude to use a flash on a dark ride. I do wish they would make more of a point telling people it is not allowed though. The announcement on Pirates, for example, is pretty quiet. And that ride is usually full of offenders.
