Who is your favorite Star Trek Specialist?

This is a hard category, but one that's worthy of considering. Each ship has been packed with regular characters, but there are some who appear in most if not all episodes since their characters introduction who specialize in one specific skillset (at least officially). Of course, this doesn't reflect their overall contribution to the crew as a whole, but merely what their primary skills are.

For this designation, I also focused on hard and linguistic sciences, not psychology or crew moral, as that falls under another category.

So, who is your favorite Star Trek Specialist, and why?
And, who is your LEAST favorite Star Trek Specialist, and why?

Communication Specialist Uhura (Nichols)

Mission Specialist Ensign Robin Lefler?

Data Flow Specialist Alfonse Pacelli?

Propulsion Specialist Kosinski?

This guy is my least favorite. I remember the episode he was in, and he was full of contempt for the crew of the Enterprise. Meh...

Transporter Specialist Miles O'brien (pre-DS9)?

Science Specialist Jadzia Dax?

Jadzia Dax is my favorite. I really enjoyed her entire story arch, especially the Klingon aspects.

(as a note Ezri fills a counselor role, and we haven't gotten there yet, so that's why only Jadzia is in this list)

Dax all the way. Such an interesting, complex character. Plus she had the helm on the Defiant.

That being said, I think Ops officers need to be on here if Science Officers are: Data and Kim.

Since it's come up, it's extremely difficult to categorize certain "multi-use" roles, like Data. So, I've been referring to Memory Alpha for guidelines.

Hence why Data was a "Helmsman", even though he was also Ops.

But, it was my misrecollection, and the article on Memory Alpha steered me in a poor direction. My mistake comes from my knowledge mostly based on previous Enterprises. Here, I'll elaborate.

Most episodes when he's on the bridge, he's found at the on the right if you are facing the captains chair. I mistook this in my head to be the helm, because, every "classic" Enterprise, and many other ships, had the helm in that position. Exceptions are:

* NX-01, which only had a one fore console
* 1701-B, which has the Conn (Helm) on the left
* 1701-C, which has the Helm on the left
* 1701-D, which has the Conn (Helm) on the left
* 1701-E, which has the Conn (Helm) on the left

Note the Reliant, they move it back to the right side...

But on the 1701-E, it stays on the left.

Anyhow, sorry about the mixup. Added both Kim and Data, but I'm not changing my vote from Dax.

A mistake on my part. Wasn't paying attention when I clicked...

They started out in chit chat,many got moved by a mod (for good reason), and I meant to keep them in the regular forum.

I'm just a ditz! I'll be more careful in the future. I'm sure they'll get moved at some point...
