<--My favorite. Hands down. Not as "stoic" as Picard, but it was wonderful to watch Sisko "grow" into his command.

<--My least favorite, not that Kate Mulgrew didn't do an excellent job, and certainly could fill the shoes of playing a captain, the writing just seemed all over the place and as a result, left her character fluctuating between awesome, to confused, to weak...so, I blame the writing, not her acting.

Picard is my favorite, by far. He felt the most like a Captain to me. Also, no one could order Earl Grey tea like he could.

Agree with Janeway being the worst. I could only watch Voyager for about half a season. Maybe someday I'll watch the whole thing...but probably not.

Picard was my favorite by far, but I think that is partly because when I started watching TNG was the first Star Trek that I watched so he is like the "original" Captain to me and I liked that he was cultured and artsy, not military at all. I never got into DS9 because I got sick of hearing about Cardassians, but one of these days I will binge watch it on Netflix. Janeway never seemed to be involved in anything other than "woe is me, get us home, blah blah blah" so many episodes about other characters that she seemed more background to me, but I didn't watch that whole series either, I had trouble finding it on tv. I have never seen an episode of Enterprise so that leaves Kirk. I use the term "Kirk" to describe people that go into situations and react before they even know what is going on. "You're such a Captain Kirk!" has been said several times.

Man, so far Janeway gets no love! (I'm in the middle of watching Voyager, I'm 8 episodes in right now...and...my opinion hasn't changed)

Captain Mackenzie Calhoun - New Frontier Series. He was the TNG version of Captain Kirk. Taking risks and always ignoring the easy way.

Least Favorite, Captain Jonathan Archer. I just never clicked with him when he was the captain of the NX-01. He wasn't bad but something just felt off to me.

I'm going to be the first person on here to show some Captain Janeway love.

Voyager has pretty much always been my favorite series. I started watching Star Trek when I was 7 and started out with TNG. Voyager was the series that was always on when I was in middle school and would come home. I still loved TNG, but I adored Voyager. And I thought that Captain Janeway was the best. And let's face it, I still do. I think out of all of the captains, she also had it the hardest. She had no support from the Federation, no backup if they got into trouble, and for the first six years, no regular communication with anyone from back home. That's tough. I also think I do favor her because she is a woman. My favorite characters on most TV shows are the women.

Captain Picard is a very close second to Captain Janeway. Do I really need to explain why Captain Picard is awesome, though?

Out of all of the captains, I think the one I didn't like as well was Sisko. I can't even pinpoint what I didn't like as well about him. I liked the rest of the cast better. Jadzia Dax was my favorite on DS9.

I actually had to go back and watch TOS and the movies, so I saw them last (and actually saw the 2009 Star Trek before TOS). I like Captain Kirk, but not as good as Picard. Leonard McCoy is my favorite TOS character. There is something very charming about him.

I could never get into Star Trek: Enterprise. I tried watching the pilot. Meh. I think it might be that I'm just not wild about the actor playing Archer. I can't get into NCIS: New Orleans either. After I finish up with TNG (last summer I watched DS9 all the way through, then I watched Voyager all the way through, and now I'm on season 5 of TNG) maybe I'll try again.

Hmm are we talking Shatner Kirk or Pine Kirk?

I must admit I really liked Sisko, and he did have to deal with not going anywhere, the Ferengi and being a single father - none of the other Captains had kids to deal with. Picard was always great for oh so many reasons, Kirk has always been the classic ladies man, I had a hard time adapting to Archer as Bakula will always be Sam Beckett to me, but Enterprise grew on me. Janeway, well as much as I've tried to like her, she's much too easily distracted (I know we're 70,000 light years from home, but "ooo there's a random signal or a speck of dust we have to investigate first") and she had an annoying voice.

Darnit! YES. I will edit the first post to include Pine and Pike.

Also, yeah, I had the same trouble with Bakula, as I loved Quantum Leap. There was even one episode where he and Dean Stockwell (Al) got back together in Enterprise, and while I knew it wouldn't happen, I thought it would be hilarious if at the end of the show he "leapt" off somewhere else and they just rebooted the QL series from there.

I like Chris Pine's Kirk over Bill Shatner's Kirk.

Although it's partially that it's Chris Pine :inlove:

I thought everyone in the new cast did an excellent job, and I liked them just as well, if not better, than the originals. Minus McCoy. Don't get me wrong;the actor did an excellent job, but there was something so charming about DeForrest Kelly.

Having only ever seen the original (Shatner) and the movie reboot (Pine), I voted for Pine, simply because Mr. PriceLine gets on my nerves. Old Shatner is soooo annoying, and colours my view of any of his previous work.

And there you have the least informed, least valuable response in the entire thread!

ETA - I should have kept reading. Turns out all I did was parrot @CaptainAmerica; but far less eloquently.
