Which meal should I do for Akershus?

We have done dinner several times and honestly have never really enjoyed the food. Our kids love the atmosphere though and love meeting the princesses. We are planning to go back in a few weeks, but we are going to try breakfast this time. I am pretty sure princesses are there for all meals.

We did it many years ago when our kids were little. We used to love the dinner menu. Once they moved it to lunch, we honestly stopped going. We never did b'fast there since we always did b'fast at Cindy's. It is a beautiful castle location. It's fun to see the princesses, although you may get Alice or Mary Poppins here instead of a princess. I remember when it was always exciting to find out which princess was in the PhotoPass spot. It used to rotate. Now it's always Belle in her yellow gown. We've met Belle, Jasmine (in her real movie outfit, not today's p.c. outfit), Pocahontas, Aurora, Ariel, Cindy, Snow White and Alice. All princesses rotate. I don't believe there are ones who only appear for certain meals, but someone who has been there many times recently could answer that better for you.

We went there for breakfast at my sister's insistence on our last trip. The food was fine, I liked the potato casserole thing. But $60 good?? Probably not. It was nice that my nieces got quite a bit of time with each princess(and I was pretty stoked to meet Mulan) but I wouldn't do it again.

Mimosas being included would probably sway my opinion but that's not going to happen hahah.

I haven't seen Jasmine or Mulan there since 2011, do they still appear? I've been wanting to see Jasmine there in her new outfit (I've spotted her at morocco and adventureland in her new outfit but I haven't seen her at the character meals)

Breakfast is pretty standard stuff, which is not what you’d hope for of a World Showcase Restaurant. Lunch/Dinner are more authentic although I can’t say we particularly loved our food there either. The draw is the princesses and the lovely castle - that’s really what you’re paying for.

One benefit to doing breakfast is if you get a pre park opening reservation, you may be able to finish your meal in time to ride Frozen Ever After before the park opens and the wait times skyrocket. Something to consider if that’s in your plans.

We went there for dinner. I absolutely loved the cold buffet, which had a nice mix of good cheeses and seafood -- even a tuna poke that was the "chef's choice" item that day. The entrees and especially the desserts were really disappointing -- "just okay," but they were pale, bland imitations of the Scandinavian dishes they were supposed to represent. I'm not a food snob, but Scandinavia is the one international destination I've visited multiple times, and the food there is so much better than what Akershus served.

That being said, if you don't enjoy cold fish/cheese/salads and aren't into Swedish meatballs and such, you might prefer breakfast. I CAN say that the character interaction we had at Akershus was the most enjoyable, and least rushed (it was still really efficient - I think we were in and out in just over an hour -- but the tone was relaxed and the princesses were unhurried, due to a healthy princess-to-guest ratio), of any character meal we've ever had.

(For the record, the day we were there, we met Belle w/ballgown for the photo at the beginning, then Ariel w/legs, Aurora, Snow White, and Jasmine w/belly button - I believe it was just before the modesty police redesigned her costume.) ;)

So we've been thinking, and Jess aka DG (Disney Girlfriend) and I have decided to do breakfast (We've done dinner, but we want to do breakfast in order to get to the Frozen meet n greet early to avoid the long waits, and to do the fastpass for Frozen Ever After).

Lunch/dinner is probably the best option. Breakfast is the best if you don't feel like trying new things as you can pretty much eat normal American food at breakfast if you want. Frankly the last time I looked there was no real difference between the lunch and dinner menu same thing either one so just go with which ever one fits your schedule.
