Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
If weather and time permit, we are definitely going back to the cemetery.
It is one of the loveliest I have ever visited.

A random picture, of the tiniest (think < pop can diametre) gravestones I've ever seen, just inches from the MacDonald plot.

We normally stay at what used to be the Radisson, now Delta Waterfront. I took one look at the price and said nuh-uh.
So, we are next door at the Holiday Inn Waterfront, for what turned out to be pennies less. *sigh*
I am very frugal when it comes to all vacations that don't include Mickey.

A very typical room, not much to speak of.

Alexandria Bay, up there on the top right, is the American dispatch point to Boldt Castle.
I went to Boldt Castle when I was about 10 years old. At the time, it was left deserted exactly as it was when his wife died. Boxed up Mantels and staircases, granite and ornate wood trim just sitting there on the floor. From what I understand they have since completed the Castle to what it was intended to look like. I think that it was more mystifying the way that I saw it. It's something that I have never forgotten and that was 58 years ago. Spooky, a little, but, it drove in the meaning of true love. That was before I became dead inside. My current mileage may vary.

Room by room. There's a lot left to finish.
I'll take pics of the vandalized, unfinished areas.

Every time we go we're excited to see the progress.

The rain stopped just long enough for us to stop at the cemetery and say hello to Sir John Eh.

It's a very modest cemetery plot, measuring 40' x 12', at most.

Very modest, considering he was the first PM of Canada, was one of the most prominent Fathers of Confederation, and was the sitting PM at the time of his death.

The simple stone cross, as he requested:

Very typically Canadian, eh.

I love the pictures. John A. MacDonald is my favorite Prime Minister. Have you read Richard Gwyn's two biographies of him? I highly recommend them.
