I watched the episode of Modern Marvels last night and they were showing WDW. It was incredible how they built the parks. Anyone else see it? I think it was from 2005. Eye opening non the less.
Think it was on H2 just two night's ago? What channel was this on? I'd like to DVR it.
A slightly older version (as in not updated) is available on YouTube all the time. It's about 90% the same.Think it was on H2 just two night's ago?

The Mark IVs were built by Martin Marietta and the track manufactured offsite, I want to say somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.Interestingly, the show states the monorail was 1 million per mile for 14 miles, in 1971 dollars. Though, I think that may just have been the track. But, who knows. Back then, Disney built them in house, and they aren't overly complicated.
Correct. The original beams were manufactured in the state of Washington. The Epcot beams were built onsite by Rinker. The Mark IVs were built by Martin Marietta and the track manufactured offsite, I want to say somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
Can't they build on site again or WDW does not want to make that financial commitment? Rather use buses.Correct. The original beams were manufactured in the state of Washington. The Epcot beams were built onsite by Rinker.
I'm not sure what where the beams are built has to do with the choice to use busses. Can't they build on site again or WDW does not want to make that financial commitment? Rather use buses.
I think the newest parts about New Fantasyland are only on the Destination America Disney showsThey are all on YouTube if you haven't watched them. The 2013 edition featuring New Fantasyland and the Snow White Mine train swinging carts has however been removed recently,
It has been suggested in another thread that the monorail could some day go away. I was merely suggesting that if the beams have to come from Seattle, WA then that would be cost prohibitive. But being made on site, then cost, I would assume, be a lot less.I'm not sure what where the beams are built has to do with the choice to use busses.
