Just to be clear, what types of attractions would you classify as D-tickets?

An attraction that has a solid theming,a decent ride vehicle, but nothing overly ground breaking, like Splash Mountain or Tower of Terror.

Rides I classify as D-Ticket are: Peter Pan's Flight, Snow White's Scary Adventures, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Buzz Lightyear, Star Tours, Mission Space.

Year 4 Mini-Challenge - The Cha Cha Slide

summit-plummet-gallery02.jpg

Thanks to @GMR710 for coming up with this mini-challenge idea!

For this mini-challenge, you must come up with a new water slide in a Disney Water Park. This can be at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon.

It can be anything you wish, just make sure to keep to the 5 sentence (no over/under) requirement and the option of 2 images max.

This Mini-Challenge will be due Thursday June 2nd at 11:59 PM EST

Good Luck!:D

The Cha Cha Slide - For Gryffindor!

Coming to Blizzard Beach will be an all new slide called Alpine Avalanche. Carved into the back of Mt. Gushmore, this slide will act as an intermediate slide for kids (and adults) who aren't ready for Summet Plummet or Slush Gusher. This slide will swerve around the rock faces of the mountain before diving down a 40 foot plunge into the splashdown below. Alpine Avalanche will offer a unique slide experience combining the tame thrills of attractions such as "Storm Slides" in Typhoon Lagoon, with the air-time drop of some of Blizzard Beach's tallest waterslides. The attraction is sure to be cool:p

Due to the success of Crush n Gusher, WDI has designed a new water roller coaster slide in a newly refurbished Shark Reef area of the theme park. Pacific Tides will be the new name of the water coaster as guests can choose from 3 uniquely designed slides ranging from tame to more intense. The three options, Eel, Flying Fish, and Shark, from tame to intense, will take guests through hairpin turns, drops, launched lifts and ultimately to a large pool where the ride ends. The slides will all be about the same length, with the variability only in its intensity, with Shark reaching speeds of 32 mph and a height of 42 feet. Ultimately, Pacific Tides will bring another water coaster and option to Typhoon Lagoon and revitalize the Shark Reef area of the water park.

The Cha Cha Slide for Ravenclaw!

chairlift.jpg

Over the years Summit Plummet and Slusher Gusher have been experiencing problems such as leaks; it has been rumored for some time now that Disney is thinking to close Blizzard Beach permanently due to the issues with those two slides it has been decided to completely replace them with new experiences. Welcome to Summit Lodge, the only ski lodge to welcome those who seek Plunge Skiing an unusual kind of sport where riders drop 90 degrees, into an icy tunnel, and into the snow.

The Frosty Orange - one of two sides at the lodge, the Frosty Orange drops you down 90 feet; along the way you'll encounter an icy tunnel with color changing crystals with orange frozen within them.
The Iced Gator - the other slide at the lodge, The Iced Gator drops you down 120 feet; along the way you'll slide into a snow tunnel with an gator skiing shaped entrance, and soon enough you see Ice Gator, who went off course stuck in the ice cave with his skis broken.

Both water slides will end at a point that are largely nearby; with these two new slides not only will it boost attendance, but it will fix an issue that is already existing.
EDIT : Changed the title from Year 4 to Cha Cha Slide.

The Cha Cha Slide - For Slytherin!

THRESHER:
shark-reef-gallery00.jpg

With Blizzard Beach at the verge of a permanent closure, Typhoon Lagoon really needs to start doubling down on slides and attractions to make way for the dispersed water park crowds.

Thresher, found in an expansion plot next to Shark Reef, is one of the new water slides part of the massive Typhoon Lagoon expansion.

After walking up a large, 80 feet to be exact, yet rusted boat dock (is that where the submarine comes from?) guests enter a large, blue tube slide. What follows is a mad, fifty-foot plunge as well as many thrilling twists and turns before actually diving in an underwater glass tunnel, surrounded by sharks and fish, ending in an escape from the tank and into a separate, shallow pool (the climax is similar to a particular waterslide at Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Here's a video-)

With Thresher, Typhoon Lagoon hopes to jump-start a future expansion, especially when it may just become an only child in the near future.

"For our challenge, we will have 48 hours to refurb and redesign Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. We both think it needs an upgrade...so let's see what we both come up with. " - @spacemt354

CaribbeanBeachResort_Color.png

In 2023, a giant renovation to the old Caribbean Beach will turn this resort into the cluster of Disney’s Coastal Beaches Resorts, a new spin on Beaches from around the world.

The Great Divide

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is huge, one of the largest hotels at Walt Disney World Resort, and for that reason, I decided to split it into 3 sister moderate resorts.

The reasoning is the small resort feel of French Quarter has been proven popular with guests, making each resort have more of a “Home” feel. This also gives opportunity for a transportation split, something I think would be extremely important for the capacity of this resort. It’s a Moderate, and the last thing you want a moderate to feel like is a Value Option.

Disney’s Mediterranean Sands Resort

Corfun4.jpg

Discover the wonders of Mediterranean Sea in Venice, Portofino, Camogli, Corfu, and Santorini, these small beach towns welcome you in an “Old City” setting. This part of the resort replaces the Trinidad North/South area in the old Caribbean Beach resort.

output_Ewjqn7_zpsvduttjhr.gif

The Rooms of Venice, Portofino, Camogli, Corfu, are themed to the colors of gold, white, and red with a touch of dark woods and leather through the rooms. The bathrooms are a little more contemporary, with greys and whites taking over the area. The dark woods continue into the double sink fixture.

output_kz9PQS_zpszs2eq80u.gif

Santorini will feature new, Family Style rooms for this resort. These rooms will take two of the previous resort rooms and styling them together for the largest family suites at Walt Disney World Resort. These rooms will sleep 6 and will have the largest room offerings for Family Suites on Walt Disney World Resort property. These are new buildings on the opposite side of old Trinidad North/South.

SantoriniSuites_zpslpdfcznj.png

The new Check-In is a small, Mediterranean style air-conditioned Cabana ready for any guest that comes it’s way, with one Cast Member able to check your party in through an iPad, and two ready to at the Check in desk, both able to do either Check-In or Concierge Services.

A small bakery is located near the resort's pool, it is themed to an small Italian store featuring several pastries for an "On the Go" option. This location is very similar to the Boardwalk Bakery in the Epcot Hotels area.

The Resort's pool is themed to bits and pieces from Fantasia's Pastoral Symphony with characters spraying water such as: families of Pegasus, Fauns, and the gods of Mount Olympus.

Stay tuned! Part 2 of this presentation will feature Disney's Thai Beach Resort! Part 3 will continue with Disney's Persian Sands Resort and a conclusion.

Disney's Thai Beach Resort

Explore the adventurous waters of Thailand, at Disney's Thai Beach Resort. This is themed to the tropical Thai Beaches that are famous for vacationer in the East. This can be looked at as a moderate version of the Polynesian, giving a cheaper options for families that look for a tropical island escape. This part of the resort replaces the Barbados and Martinique area in the old Caribbean Beach resort.

output_b3zcUm_zps0tcvja91.gif

The Rooms of the Thailand Beach Resort are themed to the colors of gold, red, and purple and white with a touch of carpet to look like stone and dark wood furniture through the rooms. The bathrooms are filled with Thailand style stone mixed with a small amount of mosaics, with beiges and tans taking over the area.

The Lobby is a Thai spin on the old Polynesian Resort Lobby, with giant rocks cascading water in the Center. Check-in is a surrounded by plants and small trees, almost themed to a jungle.

A small coffee shop selling various Eastern coffees and Starbucks blends is located near the resort's pool, it is themed to an small Thai outdoor market and also serves pastries for an "On the Go" option. This location is very similar to the Kona Island at the Polynesian Resort.

The Resort's pool is themed to a secret Elephant bathing pool, with baby elephants spewing water around the pool. Also, this area can be related to the famous Jungle Cruise scene, but with a Thai themed setting, this is unlike any other pool at Walt Disney World Resort.

The Rooms of the Persian Sands Resort are elegant and refined. The colors are themed to the colors of light blue, various tones browns, creams and whites, with a touch of wood patterned carpet and darker wood furniture through the rooms. The bathrooms are filled with Thailand style stone mixed with a small amount of mosaics, with beiges and tans taking over the area. The Persian takes up the old building space of Aruba and Jamaica.

Check-In is a bit more extravagant than it's sister resorts, with the lobby similar in space and design to Coronado Springs. This is because this resort has a business center as well. Check-in and Concierge can be found in the Lobby.

The kid's TV Area has a small nod to Aladdin, with the TV on the merchant's stand with the lamp nearby.

aladdin-robin-williams-946715.jpg

On certain days, a Cast Member will let a child hold a magic lamp, and if an effect happens, the Genie will grant the child and their family one night at the Persian Sultan Suite. Though, it is usually taken by business leaders doing conferences at the business center.

A small shop selling coffees, teas, Joffrey's, and Starbucks blends is located near the resort's pool, it is themed to a traditional indoor tea house and also serves pastries for an "On the Go" option. This location can be somewhat compared to the Joffrey's Tea Traders at Disney Springs and Tangerine Cafe at Epcot.

The Resort's pool is themed to a refined private palace pool, with a beautiful fountain in the center cascading into the water of the pool. A water play area themed to the genie from Aladdin is found nearby in a secluded area.

World Cove

gallery012.jpg

Replacing Old Port Royal Centertown is World Cove, a place that is known for Commerce, Community, and Creativity. It’s backstory is that ship travelers from all over the world have ventured to this cove of mixed cultures as a in-between port, stocking up on goods and doing business with other Captains.

This Cove is a centerpiece in the Disney Beaches Resorts Lineup, featuring a giant pool, a large quick service, a gift shop and a table service. Although World Cove has the same Caribbean architecture, it showcases the colors of India and old Spain. The Cove is also sprinkled with little trinkets of small cultural items from India, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.

Taste Traders
The new quick service option for the resort is located The Cove called Taste Traders. This quick service follows the style of Art of Animation with a "Pick and Choose" style menu. The Menu is pretty standard to every other moderate and value resort's quick service choices, though for dinner, they're are custom dishes from Italy, Greece, Thailand and the Middle East.

MyMagic+ Room Service
Many resorts after a great refurbishment or a brand new usually receive test amenities, whether it be food quality, transportation, or activities. The Beaches sister resorts will be no different. Through the power of MyMagic+, guests will be able to pre-decide breakfast options and have them delivered to their room at a specific time (Similar to the Be Our Guest Lunch MyMagic+). This is a test for future Moderate and Deluxe Resorts and surprisingly, this test is included in the Dining Plan under One Snack and One Quick Service Credit.

Voyager's Lounge
Dine in a dark wood lounge and hear stories of sailors and explorer's through current "Voyagers" who frequent the lounge (Cast characters). This restaurant has different tastes from Italy, Greece, Thailand, China, Japan, and the Middle East. The ambiance is a one of a kind fusion of Le Celliar Steakhouse and the previous Adventurer's Club. Speaking of the Adventurer's Club, if reservations are full for this restaurant, feel free to visit the interactive bar themed to the leader of the Adventurer's Club.

Pleasure's Tavern
This Interactive Bar is themed to the founder of the old Aventure's Club. You can find various items from the old Pleasure Island being shipped in crates to his "New Location". Props from the Fireworks Factory and the Adventurer's Club can be found here. Even an Interactive AA version of Colonel Critchlow Suchbench can be found talking to guests from time to time.

Verne's Fort
Found in the center of World Cove is Verne's Fort. Known for being the hideaway for an actual Jules Verne, this Fort became sunk when the Giant Squid from battle of the Nautilus took down one of it's walls. Today, the giant Squid is still lurking the new lagoon, spraying water into the depths of the water. A Fort Water Tower play area can be found nearby, as well as slides around the fort.

Transportation
The Persian has it's own bus stop while the Thai and the Mediterranean share. this helps regulate flow for business traffic.

Conclusion
As a summary, this is now the tri-fecta of moderate resorts. The three small resorts make them all on the higher price range for moderate, with the Persian Sands being the most expensive, the Thai Beach being the "middle" priced moderate, and the Mediterranean Sands being the cheapest.

The location between Epcot and Hollywood Studios makes it perfect for the subtle movie references in the resorts, with the high cultural areas. The Santorini family suites give a middle priced option for people who would like better amenities than All Star Music or Art of Animation, and would not be interested in a DVC Villa. The Business Center at the Persian adds more moderate convention space foe local companies. Lastly, World Cove offers a time machine into Walt Disney World's past in a flair only Disney could produce.

Overall, losing the Caribbean Beach theme for three other hotels could give serious attendance at this currently "eh" moderate resort.

DISNEY'S STAR WARS RESORT

In 2022, after the launch of Star Wars Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios, WDI will redesign Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort as Disney's Star Wars Resort.

While a complete overhaul of the entire resort, the buildings and structures will still be located around the same lake, however the design is no longer Caribbean inspired, but now is themed to the varied planets in the original Star Wars Trilogy.

The entire resort will be based on Star Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI. In an attempt to build a themed resort area, much like the Magic Kingdom has The Contemporary (Tomorrowland), Wilderness Lodge (Frontierland), Polynesian (Adventureland), Grand Floridian (Main Street USA), Disney's Hollywood Studios will be doing the same thing.

Disney's Star Wars Resort will be the first of 3 themed resorts to revolved around DHS. It will also be the first resort to revolve around Disney's new "Moderate+" philosophy, that keeps resorts at moderate level prices, but adds more theme and design to the resorts to give it more of a "deluxe" feel. At Disney's Star Wars Resort, you will be immersed in the universe, as you enter the Death Star Main Concourse, spend a night in Cloud City, walk-through the forest moon of Endor, and much more!

Lastly, Disney's Star Wars Resort will be connected to Disney's Hollywood Studios via a Rebel Transportation system, with non-stop service from the moon of Endor to the gates of Star Wars Land. More details to come later, but this transportation connection adds another level of depth and story-telling that brings you into the world of Star Wars.

Disney's Star Wars Resort - Map
The map below is a rough sketch of the area that the resort will sit in. Detailed descriptions of each area will follow, but the resort keeps the style and flow of Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, but adds an immersion that was minimal before. In addition, the two dark lines connecting Endor (In green) to Star Wars Land is the Rebel Transportation System, that drops guests off on a platform directly across from Star Tours. Guests and visitors of Disney's Star Wars Resort will be able to scan their magic bands from the confines of the resort before entering the transportation system.

2016-06-01_06-23-23_zpsycrmy4kr.jpg

Map Key:
Gray - Death Star Main Concourse
Red - Bespin (Cloud City)
Blue - Dagobah (Jedi Swamp)
Green - Endor (Ewok Village)
Tan - Tatooine (Mos Eisley)
Sky Blue - Hoth (Echo Base)

Death Star Main Concourse
20160601_185321_zpstdgwwha3.jpg

As guests approach the resort for their stay, they will ride down "Skywalker Avenue" before entering the main hanger (drop-off zone) in the Death Star Concourse. Guests will ride around the Emperor Palpatine's Imperial Shuttle docked in the hanger and proceed to the drop off zone where Imperial Officers will greet you and Stormtroopers will take your luggage for "inspection."

Front Desk
MM10ejl.gif

You will proceed to the front desk for your planet assignments (or to confirm your requested planet). The Front Desk will look and feel like the Death Star laser control room.

In the Main Lobby, the chrome and gray aesthetics of the walls and futuristic modern designs of the walls makes you feel like you're actually in the Death Star. Also look out for roaming MSE-series "mouse" droids roaming around the floors, as well as a potential apperance by Darth Vader to ensure that you find your room in an orderly fashion.

Several acts will take place throughout the day with walk-around characters in the Front Desk/Main Lobby area so you never know what to expect. One moment Vader might show up, the next you may see Chewbacca being escorted by "Stormtroopers" to Cell Block 1138.

The Death Star Main Concourse is home to a variety of resort services as well:

Space Station Cafe
"That's no moon...it's a buffet"
This character buffet family style restaurant is located in a hanger in the Death Star Main Concourse adjacent to the Main Lobby.

Serving a variety of meats, fish, pasta, gluten-free, vegan, and a plethora of desserts and drinks, Space Station Cafe will be the first moderate restaurant buffet. The character breakfast and dinner will feature a wide variety of Star Wars characters from Episode IV, featuring:
Darth Vader
Luke Skywalker
Ben Kenobi
Han Solo
Princess Leia
Chewbacca
Grand Moff Tarkin
C-3PO
R2-D2

Depending on the location of the characters at certain times, you'll get comical interactions between characters who either met in the films, or didn't meet in the films, such as an interaction between Darth Vader and C-3PO..."hey, didn't I build you?"

For any Star Wars fan, this restaurant will be a must.

The Throne Room - Presidential Suite
Fit for an Emperor, this 12 person suite is the largest moderate suite on property, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, and more amenities. Faces out onto Lucas Lake (the lake in the center of the resort) where you have a large circular vista (much like the Emperor's Throne Room) overlooking the entire resort.

Main Reactor
Off to the right of the Front Desk/Main Lobby area is the resort's gift shop, specializing in original trilogy merchandise. Along with the regular assorted Disney Resort merchandise, some collectable items and gags can be found in this gift shop. Collectables such as t-shirts that say "Looking for Love in Alderaan Places" and other goofy merchandise.

The Detention Center Arcade
latest

Rather than a regular arcade that is in every Disney Resort with similar style games, the Detention Center in the Death Star Main Concourse will offer guests of Disney's Star Wars Resort a laser tag room themed to the trenches of the Death Star from Episode IV. Here you can run around with friends and family through the corridors firing laser blasters at each other as you run through this maze-like environment. There will also be a Trash Compactor virtual reality game, where you have to solve Star Wars Trivia before the Trash Compactor walls close in on you.

Tie Fighter Carts (Tie-Carts)
20160601_190909_zpsy6pma6ij.jpg

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort sat in an expansive plot of land and Disney's Star Wars Resort is no different. To bridge the gap in distance, transport "Tie-Carts" are available (supplied by the Empire) throughout the Resort complex. This is especially used when guests check in. As an amenity, an Imperial Fighter Pilot will take you on a Tie-Cart to your planet where your room is. There will also be boat service around Lucas Lake. The Boats look like triangular Star Destroyers floating through the lake stopping at each planet along the way.

Other modes of transportation include Disney's Bus Service which stops at each planet along the bring of the resort complex.

The best part about the Tie-Carts is that they make the same noises as the Tie-Fighters do in the movies as they pass by you. The infamous rahhhhh sound...further adding to the immersion and fun.

Bespin - Cloud City
20160601_203354_zpscje3zjrr.jpg

As we go clockwise around the resort, our first planet stop is Bespin, and more specifically, the floating Cloud City. This location will be the basis for the 440 guest rooms on Bespin.

As you walk the streets of Cloud City, you will gaze at the 2-3 story tall contemporary designs straight form Episode V. Around the promenade you will even see hints at the films, such as an arrow pointing to the Carbon Freezing Chamber and Lando Calrissian's Lounge.

Lando's Lounge is a small bar area by the quiet pool featured in Cloud City. It's specializes in drinks such as the Bounty Hunter - a mix of vodka and tequila with a lime infused flavor.

Cloud City Room Design

27404041115_07e41e14f3_k.jpg

The rooms on Bespin are mostly 2 Queen sized double beds equipped with a 3rd Murphy bed, to sleep up to 5 guests. These rooms are designed to go along with the flair of Cloud City, complete with all resort amenities including a "carbon-freeze" safe.

As with each planet, and such like Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort was and all the other Moderate Resorts, these rooms face outdoors without an interior hallway, so when you step outside of your door in Cloud City, you are immediately hit with all your visceral surroundings that transport you to the Star Wars Universe.

Dagobah System
20160601_203255_zps52knddhd.jpg

Themed to the planet Yoda has been living on in isolation for years, the Dagobah system is a swampy, forest aesthetic that invites guests to become immersed and embrace their inner Jedi roots. As soon as you walk into the forest of Dagobah you can see a downed X-wing fighter in the swamp to your left, and at certain times during the day, an underwater geyser system slowly lifts the X-wing out of the water.

The 428 rooms are located on 2 floors hut-style buildings that lead out into the swampy lagoons beyond your room.

Dagobah System Room Design

The main attractions of Dagobah are Yoda's Hut, and the Jedi Training Fitness Center.

Yoda's Hut is a small walk-through of the interior of Yoda's Hut with a history of Star Wars film playing in the interior.

The Jedi Training Fitness Center is a combination of indoor and outdoor activities. Nestled next to the quiet pool area, jog through the wilderness on a 0.5 mile loop throughout the Dagobah System area just as Luke Skywalker did. The interior of the fitness center is themed to the cave that Luke had to enter. Inside are more strength building machines, treadmills, bicycles, and other aerobic workout materials.

Endor - Ewok Village

20160601_203511_zpsny27u6am.jpg

Enter the forest moon of Endor and the Ewok Village. This will be the most unique and expansive of the planets, mostly due to the amenities and treehouse style rooms. While the interior of the resort rooms will remain similar to the other planets, the location will all be on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th "floors" of the Endor forest, in treehouses, much like the Ewoks have in the film.

Surrounding by lush forestation and shurbbery, the Ewok Village will plant you right in the middle of Episode VI. Located behind (to the west) of the Death Star Main Concourse, it will even have a similar feeling at night, when the Death Star Projection is thrown into the sky, looking down on Endor.

Ewok Village Room Design
2016-06-01_05-58-59_zps1fwg2qb2.jpg

One of the more comical easter egg additions to the resort rooms is in every single guest room there is a picture of C-3PO, as the Ewoks think of him as a god. This is also a great spot for kids as they can stay in a Ewok treehouse, with some rooms even being equipped with bunk beds.

Campfire Sing-Alongs

On select nights there will be campfire marshmallow roasts and a movie projected onto a screen in center of the Endor forest and adjacent to the quiet pool.

Endor Forest Walking-Trail
Stroll through the tall trees of Endor as you loop around the 64 treehouses in this planet. Perhaps you'll even run into an Ewok or two on the way

Ewok Play Area
A children's play area with slides and a jungle gym with a Ewok theme.

"Speeder"-Bike Rentals
Bike around Endor and the entire Star Wars Resort, pedaling through the planets on a designated biking path around Lucas Lake. 30minutes -1 hour rental times.

Rebel Transportation System
Takes Flight from the Moon of Endor to Disney's Hollywood Studios, board a Rebel ship piloted by Admiral Ackbar as you fly off to the theme park.

This transportation system will be similar in style to the Hogwarts Express in Universal Orlando, in that it will be an enclosed transportation system that closes you off from the outside.

There will be two different experiences going to and from the theme park. Going to the theme park (since Star Wars Land is set post-original trilogy) you will fly over the Battle of Jakku and experience how the Empire fell and the First Order rose. You will also see Luke Skywalker go into isolation after the fall of Kylo Ren.

On the return trip, you will experience a battle from Disney's Rogue One on the tropical planet (name TBA) as Darth Vader shows up and clashes with the rebels as they escape with the Death Star plans.

Tatooine - Mos Eisley

20160601_203120_zpsdobwjfcb.jpg

Travel to the famous Tatooine city filled (according to Ben Kenobi) with scum and villany. Why stay here, aside from the breath-taking binary sunset, is due to the lush theme and surroundings that engulf you in the Skywalker home.

Walking around the streets of Mos Eisley, your rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the sand hardened buildings with a few huts (suites) on the outskirts (as seen above)

The Mos Eisley Cantina will also make an appearance in this location as a quick service restaurant and bar for Disney's Star Wars Resort. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, eat a wide variety of exotic foods surrounded by the environment from the films. While not a character quick service restaurant, there may be several "acts" throughout the course of the day, such as Ben Kenobi entering the bar area, or a blaster noise going off in one of the booths...we all know that Han shot first.

Mos Eisley Room Design

27128313570_959b68ca77_k.jpg

The rooms have a very "dune-equse" vibe to them, with desert themed colors and architecture.

While Tatooine doesn't have a quiet pool (it's a desert) it is adjacent to Hoth which has 2 pools, including the resort's main pool area, so guests from Tatooine may traverse a brief way for their pools.

Hoth - Echo Base

20160601_202922_zpsgqppyxdq.jpg

When the frozen ice planet is translocated to the Florida sun, the ice may melt a little bit, but the battle of Hoth still wadges on.

This 550- room complex in the 4 story Echo Base structure that wraps around the planet location features a variety of activities for its guests.

AT-AT Bay
One of the largest pools on property (rivaling Art of Animation) this pool made out of an iceberg on the planet Hoth is surrounded by elements from the beginning of Episode V. Imperial Probe Driods hidden throughout the melting snow pop out and squirt water at the guests, while the towering ATAT hovers over the pool ready to make a splash as it fires water out of its canyons.

Enjoy a lazy river as well that runs throughout the Rebel made snow trenches around the Hoth Battlefield and float around the action.

There's also a playground for children built out of the snowy peaks of the canyons of the planet as well adjacent to the pool.

Wampa Cove
A swim-up ice "scream" shop. With tasty treats to beat the heat, just be sure to avoid upsetting the Wampa!

Echo Base Room Design

The rooms have a very snowed-in vibe to them with decorative items themed to Echo Base from the films. This is the only moderate resort that features interior hallways, as the rooms in Echo Base open up to the snowy caverns of the Rebel fortress.

Resort Overview and Conclusion

Disney's Star Wars Resort hopefully excites the kid in all of us (as most of Walt Disney World does) and offers a more visceral and engaging theme than Caribbean Beach, while also tying in with the new Star Wars Land.

While Disney's Caribbean beach (and all moderate resorts) tend to place all the major activities in the resort in a hub around the main lobby area, Disney's Star Wars Resort spreads out the adventures to the different planets, giving each area its own special commodity, while encouraging guests to explore all the planets to get the full experience.

While a large complex, there are several transportation options around the resort, that shrinks the size down and makes everything reachable. Or if you just enjoy exercise, you can simply stroll around the complex at your leisure, soaking in all of the Star Wars lore.

Overall, Disney's Star Wars Resort will be A New Hope for Moderate Resorts, as they Strike Back with a Return of the Disney charm.
