Thanks to @DlpPhantom for creating this challenge!

For your next individual (and optional) mini-challenge, you will be tasked with designing an interactive queue for any Disney attraction around the world! You don't have to go into detail about the ride-through, only the queue as you approach the attraction and what changes you'd make to have it be more interactive. :D

Your proposal must have five sentences (no over/under) and a maximum of two images. No websites either, just like last time.

This project is due Monday April 25th at 11:59 PM EST Good Luck!:D
I believe you spelled Quidditch wrong.

The Soarin' queue at Epcot has been one of the most dreadful of waits around the WDW parks, and therefore (quickly - before it opens again this summer!) it's going to get an interactive queue makeover in order to help make the 100+ minute waits more manageable.

Unlike it's counterpart in DCA within the Condor Flats area, Soarin' in WDW is nestled in The Land pavilion, so this new queue will redress the bland paint and erector set designs with more natural aesthetics of land and air travel around the world.

Soarin_queue.jpg

The most depressing part of the current queue is if it's starting back here, but thankfully with the update, the walls and ceilings will be painted over with tapestries of the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids of Egypt, the Sydney Harbor, and so on to give the area more life.

As you approach the large HD screens in the second part of the queue, they will be restored with trivia questions on the bottom in addition to better animated interactive games on the large screens, brightening up the queue with lights and an inspirational soundtrack from aviator films and Jerry Goldsmith.

Lastly, the boarding process will feel more like an airport, with ever-changing departure times listed on the walls, Disney easter eggs (such as a Flight to the Moon) before boarding your hang-gliders.

Starting in July 2018 this will no longer be the case as Space Mountain's new interactive queue will help make the wait not just more manageable, but just as thrilling as the attraction.

In the new interactive queue guests will prepare to become residents of Space Station 75 through a series of games and interactive sets that train guests for their upcoming mission and the true fun comes in challenging your family and friends via MyMagic+ to see who in your group is most prepared for the mission ahead.

At the end of the attraction the person with the most points from training will get redeemable points they can use to buy souvenirs or food.

The design will be updated by using the technology found on Disney Cruise Line, new large windows in the queue will give you the feeling of being in deep space on a high-tech space station.

New AA's installed will depict the people of Space Station 75 and interact with guests by using the information provided by MyMagic+ and it will add a new layer of storytelling to an already great attraction.

Let's face it- when "Frozen Ever After" opens in the next few months the lines will be so long you will feel like you are frozen in place; so here is a sneak peak of the games they will feature:

  • Build your own digital snowman with Anna and Elsa where you can choose from hundreds of different hats, arms, nose, eye, and accessories on a giant electronic wall display.
images

  • Search for Elsa hidden murals (similar to where's waldo)
  • Fun Facts about Norway trivia game (with tie-in's to how the film was inspired by the culture)
  • Frozen freefall puzzle games:

Rather than the first attraction you see in Epcot - in fact the symbol of Epcot - Spaceship Earth, having a queue that looks like a common cattle call, your first impression of this park will be a hidden, walled queue with a separate cave-like entrance on either side of the giant geodesic sphere (both leading to the same boarding area, and leaving the potential for stunning external enhancement during the Flower & Garden festival and other events.)

You begin in a cave lit by torches revealing cave art, which then becomes the walls of Egyptian pyramids with writings on papyrus, then Greek/Roman marble with columns and Roman numerals on a clock, then a cobblestone street in London with a newspaper stand, a store window full of TV's & computers (room for a nod to old-school Mickey, Walt showing EPCOT plans, and/or CoP on the screens) and finally a NASA-like atmosphere before boarding.

Along the way in each section will be touch-screen kiosks recessed into the walls, greeting you with a touch of your magic band and asking you one quick question each with only 2 possible choices as answers to keep the line moving (with the answers informing your personalized finale movie!) Don't worry - if the line is short, the last kiosk can ask all the questions, but each kiosk before it can only ask questions up to that station (or you can just log in to mydisneyexperience.com and answer them at your own pace on your smartphone.)

Sample questions would include whether you prefer fishing or going to the movies, with the former answer perhaps placing you in a caveman setting in your post-ride video, and the latter perhaps placing you in a Hollywood scene.

QUE-DDITCH MINI CHALLENGE SUBMISSION FOR GRYFFINDOR

You know, you can have quite a rough time out at sea waiting for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, just imagine, you're at the park and have been waiting to cross this attraction off your to do list all day, it's one of you and your families factories(and also a classic), but I have to say, the worst part about this ride is the line itself, so, my idea for the queue is..a quest.

You're probably confused, well for Pirates, I figure that we could put games in treasure chest throughout the queue, and have everyone be occupied by that ; the games would consist of you having to find Jack Sparrow and collecting treasure, the game would consist of there being a treasure map that you see on the treasure chest, and with each line you go through you reach a different place on the treasure map, eventually leading at the near end of the queue where you find an animatronic Jack Sparrow wishing you a farewell on your "voyage".

The game itself, each line would have a different game, since they are in different "locations" throughout the map, one would have where you could dig up jewels in the sand, then leading onto finding jewels in the water, on a boat, and depending on which line your in the game gets more challenging to find the jewels, and with each stage, the last stage is right before you ride, with Jack Sparrow saying things like "Great job, Mate, you did it, you found myself and this lovely golden treasure, welcome aboard, good luck on your voyage".

The look of the treasure chest is simple, much like the seven dwarfs mine train queue, the treasure chest would be in a line, at the bottom of the treat sure chest you would see "a pile of sand" and have the treasure chest be slightly sideways(just to give it that effect that you're in the sand), and on the inside of the chest, we could have "treasure" and jewels surround the game and in the center be where you have to find hidden treasure.

Overall, I feel like this could be a great way to add onto Pirates of the Caribbean because this could give everyone(adults and kids), a chance to do something while in line, to make the waiting a little bit easier, this would keep kids occupied, and could make people want to ride it more, while still keeping them busy(and their parents phones alive so their not constantly at a charging station), but this could ultimately help Pirates in the future.

IMAGINATION INTERACTIVE QUEUE

With a retheme of the attraction hopefully coming soon. The institute theming of the queue needs to change and because of the long waits that may come with a new attraction why not have an interactive queue to go along with it.

When entering the the line we see a beautiful mural looking much like the one from the original. Once you reach one of the walls you see some motion sensors. If you move your hands in between the sensors the section of the mural in front of you to life.

One example is that in one section painted to the scene in the fantasy forest from the original attraction. In this part of the mural figment holds a golden cauldron that rainbows spew out of. When moving your hands the section is colored with all the colors of the rainbow.

In the next area of the line you can help dream finder unscramble words. It would be more for the younger children because the words would be no longer than 5 letters long.

The last would be the rainbow tunnel. Inside the rainbow tunnel is a memory game because the colors will glow in a pattern and you have to repeat it. Small sections of the wall are boxed off for each game so other people can't mess up your game.

This is cool, but I believe the deadline for submission was midnight last night(?)
