Disneyland has "social clubs" that just go and hang around every week. Worse than lifestylers imo.

One DL lifestyler was bragging that he used his AP over 200 times last year. "Works" for Touring Plans.

Yes, Guy is there pretty much every day or so it seems. I couldn't and wouldn't want to do that. Too many other great things in life to experience. But to each their own. And as for the Social Clubs, they are the worst of the works IMO. Most of them look like they belong in biker gangs with the "Sons of Anarchy" like vests, a multitude of tats and piercings...and I'm not knocking those that have tats and piercings. Not my thing but it's the overall "gang" look they have. Ugh.

The "Black Death Crew" was at Star Wars Weekends. Given the multitude of actual biker gangs (and the violence) here in Central Florida.... I can see this becoming a problem.

There are tons of them out here now. They are all over the place whenever we are there. Disney appears to let them continue to exist though there have been reports of some less than "disney-like" behavior. At the end of the day, as long as they don't cause any problems it really doesn't effect me. I just can't seem myself having any interest in dressing like them or belonging to a SC. I clearly don't have or will ever desire to have the look that a vast majority of them have.

Back to the topic of required reading, BoingBoing posted the original Disneyland prospectus used by Walt to pitch Disneyland to investors.

http://boingboing.net/2014/05/20/disneylandprospectus.html

Which is odd, because exactly 1 year ago, Corey Doctorow posted the prospectus on his own site... so why they are acting like this hasn't been released before makes no sense. Here's the thread I started about it one year ago:
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/original-disneyland-prospectus-concept-note.865612/

It's missing that artwork, and it's certainly not a 4GB high-res scan - but still...

And here's the original boingboing post:
http://boingboing.net/2013/05/20/rare-amazing-original-prospec.html

Which clearly names the "anonymous" donor.

These look like 2 different documents. The prospectus posted today is from 1953, the one posted last year is dated 1954.

From what I've read--I have a perverse fascination with these faux motorcycle clubs--that's kind of the point. When DLR offered APs at lower price-points or on flexpay or something, the old-guard APs turned their nose up at the tatted up, pierced "Wal-Mart" crowd who were suddenly visiting their parks. Playing up those characteristics to a frankly stupid level is their way of tweeking people like ... well, apparently you Stevek.

Why I don't think they'll ever catch on in Orlando. The pierced, tatted up Wal-Mart crowd isn't a minority here, it's a majority.

GET OUT OF MY WAY OR ILL RUN YOU OVER WITH MY SCOOTER

*hhaaawwwwk-pootie*

Though I'd *love* to see those types wearing leather jackets and bandanas. :D

I actually really like the Tokyo/HK parks, where the guests "show their Disney side".

I'd like to see roaming 'gangs' of them around the parks.

It's not so much tweeking me...I don't like the look but it doesn't impact my enjoyment of the parks. If I just said, "I"m not going anymore as long as those nutjobs are here," that would be a different issue.

I'm pretty sure there are a small minority of disney cosplayers as well. I've seen some of them posting photos on their tumblr when on disneyland/disneyworld.

and I know Kingdom Hearts / the big 4 as a big following. (big 4 means Hiccup, Jack Frost, Merida and Repunzel )
