So I went to Disneyland Paris today...

So I had a unforseen and GREAT opportunity to go to Disneyland Park (Paris). I had NO time to prepare as the business trip literally came in at the LAST minute. I could not let this opportunity pass me I showed up at the park pretty much straight from the international flight with 4 hours until closing. I am not a photographer (very self evident) so I am giving you the pics as is, with some cropping. They are big and I don't have time to convert them due to jet lag. Enjoy...

Mainstreet/Entry - Mainstreet is very similar to WDW. The huge exception is the bldg that isolates the park from the exterior at the entrance - see pic 23 - that thing is a MONSTER. The cars were very active on the streets!

Frontierland - great theming but it was so subdued that it felt more like a movie set than an amusement park. BTMR goes UNDERWATER to connect the ride start to the BTMR ISLAND! Very cool. Phantom Manor starts as a clone but then totally becomes it's own ride at the end when you go subterranean UNDERNEATH the cemetary then enter THEIR world underground, with an wild west theme. I was kind of down on the ride until this part happened and it more than reclaimed the ride! However the lack of narration was odd (French and English challenge I guess?) The steamer is NOT - no wheel no nothing...

Adventureland - The indy coaster was a banger of a steel coaster. it had full head restraints that you banged into the whole time. Great theming but not storyline.

Discoveryland (aka Tomorrowland) - I need to digest this one before I comment. Space Mountain 2 opens next week and there were VIP soft openings that I was not able to talk myself onto. I did this whole park in 4 hours, racing to close, so when I saw that star tours appeared to be a complete clone, I bailed. You cannot tell from the pic, but C3P0 was talking to me in French and it sounded better on him. That nautilus 'attraction' SHEESH, one day it will be the best queueing for an actual ride I guess!

I did INDEED have a WONDERFUL time! Most of that is jetlag/exhaustion talking. I would love to be able to bring my family back there sometime.

It was a very vague experience - heck it's 1:13 AM at the moment and I am trying to convince myself that it is not 6:13 PM the day prior.

That said, it looks like my Disney Paris experience will forever be this ethereal, vapory kind of thing...

One thing I did notice is that none of the kids laughed or smiled. Or if they did, it was not on a scale that I could detect. VERY ODD...

Great pics! Thanks for sharing them with us. One thing that Disneyland Paris has going for it is the generous HG Wells theming in Tomorrowland/Discoveryland. Looks great. I doubt if I will ever make it over there, but it looks like it would be an interesting time if I did.

That's funny, I notice that all the time, be it Disney Paris or in the USA... the adults seem to have much fun and REACT, but the kids seem bored and unexcited. Go figure.
