How crazy is it trying to by the first ones to ride the Seven Dwarf Mine Train at rope drop??? I know it's been pretty popular. Are you making a run for it?

To me it seems a little crazy. I'm not a runner, nor will I push people out of my way to get to a ride. So it seems like when I finally get in line it is about a 20 minute wait. I would rather get a fast pass and enjoy some of the other attractions right away in the morning.

Last time I did it, it was an escorted walk. This was when it first opened. It is a mad rush and people pushing, trying to run you over with their strollers, and complete craziness. I was attacked by the Stroller Brigade. After she hit me the third time, I know she got the picture. I don't think the front wheel worked any more.

This is what I was kinda picturing. We are two adults in good shape but respect others and want to be safe. I will have to look at a park map to see what this best / quickest way back there. It's been a while since we have been to WDW. Are people a lot more rude then years back?

I would believe they still escort to the ride. This means there is no "quickest" path. You just follow the cattle call. Literally, grown adults will push 6yo kids down to get there 10 seconds faster as long as their kid gets there first. My advice is to avoid it. It is a waste of time. Get a FP for it, hit Peter Pan, Pooh, Ariel, Barn Stormer, Dumbo, Tea Cups, Raceway, Buzz and possibly Space Mountain. The right path you can do all of these in about 90 minutes. The people that run to 7DMT will wait 30-45 minutes, then go to PP and wait another 30-45 minutes. While they are waiting for 2 rides, you can be done with Fantasyland and most of Tomorrowland. Then off to Frontierland and Adventureland before the massive crowds.

We have fast passes for a Monday night but my wife wants to ride it in the daytime to compared the experiences. Hopefully she will be happy with the Monday night FP and say we don't need to get in this mess. But you are right. You can get a lot done in that first 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

They have actually let people in before the park is technically "opened" so they can go ahead and get in line for it. As long as you get a FP for it don't even worry about riding it at rope drop. It's a complete waste of time to do that. Ride other things during that time. It's a much better way to manage your time. If you can't get a FP for it then ride it right as the park closes. Also it's worth noting that a lot of times the line moves faster than the wait times indicate. I've seen it have a 45 minute wait but have gotten on it in about 20. On the soft open of the Rock Your Disney Side day the line was literally backed up to Under The Sea and it still only took about 30 minutes or so to get on it. They were running it to capacity and it's actually a very short ride. I'm not saying the wait times are always inaccurate but they are definitely not an exact science. Plus if you can't get a FP online then you should go to your CM at the front desk of your resort. They are really helpful and they hook us up with extra FP's all the time at BLT. They told me that pretty much the only one they're not allowed to touch is the Frozen ride. Other than that they can go in there and just add them to your Magic Band. Don't be afraid to try that. I would almost guarantee they would do it for you and I'm sure others here have experienced the same thing. They really do want you to have the most enjoyable experience you possibly can.

Speaking for myself, I honestly like it better at night but I really love the MK most at night in general. So I'd say I'm biased. LOL!

I agree. The magic Kingdom takes on a different vibe at night (in a good way). Thanks for the helpful information. We are staying at the Poly and I'll ask if it's possible to add another FP. Can't hurt to try. I've seen different reviews of the ride - Too short, kiddy ride to love it, greatest ride ever.

It's a really fun ride but it is NOT worth waiting hours in line for and it is also NOT worth getting plowed over for either. I'm sure the Poly will hook you up. When they add them to your Magic Band they pretty much always just put them in there to be used at your leisure. That would be the best way for you guy to get to ride it twice for comparison's sake. I'm not a betting man but I'd say the odds heavily favor you getting an extra FP by a CM and also I'd say the odds favor your wife thinking it's better at night. Even the queue seems neater at night to me because of all the dwarfs little lanterns being lit up and it just makes it even more immersive for me. Also when you're about to go down the hill after the dwarf scene look on the wood to your right for a GREAT Hidden Mickey with him holding a little shovel.

We walked there at park opening two days last week. We weren't even close to the first people in the park. By the time we got there and got in line, I think we waited about 15-20 minutes both days? It wasn't bad, and most stuff still had really short waits when we got off the ride. Just to prepare you, since people haven't packed in the line just yet in the morning, it stretches out almost to the teacups as people try to stack in. It LOOKS like an hour wait, but it's not at that point.

Thank you for giving some insight. We are both easy going people. We have made a list of what rides we want to ride in each of the parks, which ones want to ride at least twice and made FP to cover almost everything. The daytime FP for this ride was the only thing I didn't achieve. It's the first time we are using the Magic bands so it should be interesting.

A couple weeks ago I visited the MK, and got there just after rope drop. I couldn't get a FP for SDMT, so I knew I had to see it first thing if I were going to get on it at all. By the time I got up there I had maybe a 20 minute wait. So no, you don't have to fight and scratch to get there absolutely first thing. Go up right behind the mad mob, and you should be able to ride with a minimal wait.

It is no secret that I totally adore 7DMT. This ride does not get half the credit it deserves, imo.

Anyway, to answer your question -- we rode 7DMT standby at night, the wait was only 30 minutes when we entered the line but it went down, so it took like two hours and no one knew what was going on. MK was totally closed after we exited the ride, but I don't regret it.

We had FP's later that week during the afternoon and it was great. FP for this ride is set up so nice -- we walked on right in the middle of the day.

Next time, we are going to ride 7DMT at rope drop and FP for at night. I definitely prefer night, it's just so beautiful.

The daytime and nighttime experience feel totally different, so it's worth it for me it to ride 7DMT twice.

Also, I cannot stress how nice the Memory Maker is for 7DMT, you'll feel like a movie star! LOL.
