Dr. Seuss will reign again at Universal's Islands of Adventure Thursday as the park finally opens its long-delayed children's elevated train ride and celebrates with a Seuss festival.

The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride will carry small children and their families, 15 feet up, throughout the park's Seuss Landing area, going around other attractions, along the lake and through a restaurant.

The ride originally was built for the park's 1999 opening but remained shuttered because of safety concerns, leaving ribbons of colorful track twisting above the park like steel decorations, for seven years. Now it has been re-engineered, rebuilt, repainted and renamed. It starts running late Thursday morning.

To commemorate the start, Universal is holding activities all that morning at Seuss Landing to emphasize the values that Seuss -- whose real name was Theodor Geisel -- espoused through his popular children's books: creativity, reading, respect for the environment, diversity and fun.

"It's the opening of an attraction, but it's also a celebration of Dr. Seuss and everything he tried to teach us," Universal spokesman Tom Schroder said.
