Considering it has been refurbed relatively recently I thought it was shabby. The smoke scene with Barbosa was messy and you couldn't tell it was him, the audio was difficult to hear throughout, the water cannons worked but I seem to remember the water going higher and a few AA's weren't working
.

What smoke scene are you refering to? Are you talking about the fog scene before the drop? I thought that was still Blackbeard from the last movie. Or the AA in the battle scene? You can hear him giving orders to his crew and it sounds like Barbossa.

Last year, we got stuck on the ride and was evac'd. Castmembers came out in waders and had to move each boat to a safe place for us to disembark. We were escorted out of the building and along a sidewalk backstage, being watch continually. When we reached the inside of the park, we were handed fastpasses for any ride. I was telling someone who I was sitting next to on the ride this year and, guess what happened. We got stuck right under the fog machine. This time, we all had to lean to the left and then the right, rocking the boat until we freed ourselves. Our boat was overweight and leaned to one side throughout the ride.
That happened to us too just before the fire scene. Rocked left to right until we got moving again

I was there on Saturday on line right when the evac occured...and it was open again shortly after (I was able to get food and when I came back it was re-open). So couldn't have been anything serious.

The fog scene at the very start of the ride. I think last time I rode it was Barbossa, I couldn't tell you who it was this time because it was very blurry and the audio was muffled.

Too bad about that. It's one of my favorite parts. Someone correct me if I 'm wrong but wasn't it Davy Jones right before Blackbeard and wasn't Blackbeard supposed to only be the for a limited time? Not that I mind Ian McShane. He makes a cute pirate. (Did I just say that?:))

i think i was on the keys to the kingdon door and down in the utildors when the response went out, there was quite a stir as we watched some rescure folks prepare to go on a call

this happend around 2 or so right?

This was more like between 12:30 and 1:00pm.

I was there on Saturday on line right when the evac occured...and it was open again shortly after (I was able to get food and when I came back it was re-open). So couldn't have been anything serious.

Now I'm sad that we didn't wait around longer.
It wasn't exactly that shortly afterward - when we evac'd, we went to the Pirates Bazaar to look for a birthday gift for a niece (Pirate Princess girl!). We wandered through the shop for about 15 minutes, then dispersed back into the walkway outside.
My Mom had wandered to Frontierland when we were in the store, so I went to get her. When we returned is when I noticed that the store had been closed (we were in the store after being ushered off of the ride). We sat in front of the Tortuga Tavern for about 15 minutes but still no sign of reopening.
Despite the mixed opinions, I'm sad to have missed the mermaids...this was our only time in MK during the trip.

The mermaids (in the water) were not "swimming" over the weekend.

Maybe Disney decided that it was pointless to spend time and money on new effects that were not functioning properly and, in an all-or-nothing approach to show integrity, decided to evac the attraction. o_O

I wonder if maybe it was a fire alarm. I think last year there was a fire alarm over near Buzz Lightyear and they had to evacuate Buzz Lightyear, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, the photo gift shop at then end of Buzz, and also the TTA.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Brings to mind we always requested front row on our last trip. On one of the times my niece and daughter ducked down as we went down the falls. The lady behind us complained half the ride because some water flew over the girls and she got a little wet. Her husband told her to shut up during the redhead scene.:D
The last time we rode Jaws (sniff, sniff), we had a similar experience. Our family of four shared a row with a couple in their 60's. The gentleman got in and moved to the far left. His wife entered, but refused to sit in the wet seat next to her husband. I nicely asked her to move over so our group of four could all be seated.
She bit my head off and very snarkily said, "You sit in the wet seat. I'm not moving." So, I stepped over her, and rode the attraction between her and her husband; separated from my DH and kids.
Anyway, having ridden many times before, I knew when the shark was finally going to wet us, so I ducked. All the planets were clearly aligned, as she got SOAKED!!
Just goes to prove - Karma's only a if you are.

He'll always be Lovejoy to me.
Great tv show - although some of the books are almost impossible to read.

That is true. in which the whole building would close.
