Pirate Water Smell?

This is kind of weird but I did have a Disney smell flashback when we got home the other day.

We just spent about 2-weeks in WDW and we had decided to open our pool when we got back from vacation instead of doing it beforehand. It's an above ground pool and I have a sand filter. This year I decided I was going to change the sand in the filter and as I was dumping the pool filter sand into the filter, the smell was the closest thing I've ever come to in reminding me of the watery/musty smell in Pirates and other water features in Disney.

I'm not saying Disney uses sand filtering for their water......but maybe they do?? Outside of dumping pool filter sand in the hallways of my house, I have no idea how to replicate it though. :)

I've seen threads on this before, but has anyone been able to recreate this smell? Or know of any products that will make my house smell like that?

Here's how I did it!

Buy a small table top resin fountain. (battery operated or plug in)

Leave it outside all Summer.

In the Winter, bring it back into your house, but don't clean it.

Add a bromine tablet, and let it run.

It is almost exactly the smell of Pirates.

Now, I just have to figure out what I need to recreate Splash...there is an extra wet wood-y smell that differs from POTC.

Disney should just make candles of popular smells around the park.

Water in Pirates.

Library of Alexandria Burning in SSE

Soarin' Orange Grove

Soarin' Beach Scene

Soarin' River Rafting Scene

Any others?

Disney World Monorail: Fresh and Clear Morning scent
Disney World Monorail: Hot Afternoon Confined Space scent.

I said it once, and I'll say it again: Figment the Skunk!
(PM me if you have instructions to recreate this smell, since I really love it!)

Mix 40 years of boats going through the same concrete walls with coins, spit and anything else people throw in the water, and there you go.
