Will they continue to have a photographer at the locations and offer a photo pass card or a scan to the magic bands?

This makes me think yes:

"Following the discontinuation of the print packages, guests will be able to use the My Disney Experience app and website to view photos taken by PhotoPass photographers at restaurants."

Yes, you're right. Haven't had my coffee yet and I guess I need to drink up. LOL

Does anyone think they will then announce a price drop for CRT and Akershus in 2015? Or will they instead credit you for the PhotoPass download.

The inclusive photo package option will be discontinued.

Which was why I asked if we thought they would discount the price for the meal. Charging $X for a meal + photo package, if I no longer get the photo package in the real world I should now be charged < $X for the meal only. Or do we get to write this one off on more NGE/FP+/MDE/whatever cost overages we are attributing all the other recent hard ticket options to.

Knowing Disney, if there is a reduction in price, it'll be a nominal $2 decrease and they will then raise the price by $3 in January 2016.

We should know soon. January 4 is roughly 180 days away, so I assume they went with that date b/c people booking going forward will not see the photo package. Since you prepay for these places (well, at least CRT. Do you prepay for akershus?), we'll see the cost.

Aren't they renovation CRT next year. They probably will use that to justify not dropping or raising the price.

If I remember correctly Akershus gave away the pictures as complementary. They were considered an extra that you didn't pay for but rather Disney gave you for free (unless this was discontinued awhile ago). I have a feeling for those tables that use to give the photo away it will just be free for download or print order online through MDE now.

I see this as a way to drive people to Memory Maker. What these dinning pictures are 30 bucks. Now instead of paying for them individually they will hope you buy Memory Maker so you automatically get them for download or print order or that they will stop wasting money printing photos people don't want.

I see this as the biggest reason. Since everyone has a phone now that takes high quality pictures why pay someone else to do it for you?

We would buy a package or two if we ended up looking good in it. However, we would much rather be able to look at them online and pay the 30 for a print out mailed to us than to have them print it so we can look and see. Even with our DSLR, point and shoot, and camera phones my group at least will buy photopass photos if they capture something special. At breakfast we are often too busy eating to take our own photos and don't want to mess with the DSLR that early.

for them to not lower the price at CRT and akershus is a MAJOR price increase for the meal. the package if purchased as separate pictures from photopass is probably at least $60-$80. didn't do the math but there were lots of pictures in the package. that's a major rise in the cost of each meal. once again, distressing. but not surprising in light of so many price increases there
however, i am surprised by stopping them at places where you can choose to purchase them. obviously not enough folks buy the packages to make a profit from the sale. and that's what all business is about, profit. but i am a little surprised folks don't get them. guess i'm one of the few folks who looked and said..."aww, ain't my grandkids cute, I need that picture"

It always bothers me when they show up at the table with the picture ready for purchase and I hear the price. The picture is already printed and if I don't buy it they are just going to throw it away, yet they charge such a high price. If the price was more reasonable I would have bought more.

Not everyone had a phone. Most people, but not everyone. Most phones do not take quality photos. All family members cannot be in the picture if one of them is snapping fuzzy ,out of focus or under/ over exposed pictures. That's why you pay people to do it for you.

Most of what you describe also describes 90% of PhotoPass pics.
