Our parents had never stayed on Disney property before and although we had explained several times back home how the dinning plan worked we found ourselves regularly answering their questions about it, usually because they were surprised at what they could get for ‘free’
Our fastpass window had opened up for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (we were actually slightly late at this point) but we had waited for Mam to arrive to ride with us. I can’t get enough of this ride!! It’s so cute and the mine itself is so pretty!
HEIGH HOOOOOOOOOO
It was about 10.30am and the park was starting to get busier now and we were all getting hungry!! It was still quite early though and we wanted to head to Columbia Harbour House for lunch which wasn’t open just yet.
We decided to watch my favourite 3D show
Philharmagic!
I love this show! I remember it from the time I came to MK when I’d just turned 9yrs old, I remember thinking we had great seats because tinkerbell came right out to me lol
We still had a bit more time to kill before we could finally EAT so we went on Rachel’s favourite ride ever…
Ok so it was her favourite ride ever… when she was 4! She made us go on it OVER and OVER and OVER again… I was haunted by that song!
FINALLY IT WAS FOOD TIME!!
I’d never eaten at CHH before so was excited to check it out!
So of course my parents were like… ‘What are we allowed to get’
Cue the look
“A main, a drink and a desert”
Mam: “Can I even get the grilled Salmon for free, it’s more expensive?”
Me: “Yep… any main Mam”
SO MUCH FOOD!!!
Dad and Rachel got the lobster roll, I got the chicken breast nuggets (sharing with Rachel) and Mam got the grilled salmon.
The lobster roll was so YUMMY!
I love the Disney Parks designs on the cups… so cute!
We wanted to head shopping to get some groceries and also pop to the Disney Outlet store so we made our way back to the car.
BB8 MONORAIL!!!
I’m a bit of a Star Wars geek as you will see over the next two weeks!
We went to the Outlets first which was a great call because although it was busy when we arrived (around 12pm) it was MAYHEM when we were leaving.
I wasn’t that impressed with this outlet so I didn’t pick up very much. I got a nice light zippy top that you’ll see me sporting later! Rachel did manage to get a Splash Mountain t-shirt for the 5K though… spotting the theme yet???
We headed back to our resort to chill for a little bit before our busy evening ahead.
This is the view from the front of our room
I realised only after I’d booked our ADRs that the Osborne Lights would still be on during our stay which I was SO EXCITED ABOUT!!
I ran through the Osborne Lights in the 2014 W&D Half Marathon but I’d never actually been to the show to see them ‘dance’
We had dinner reservations at Chef Mickeys so our plan was to drive to HS to see the lights show then drive straight to the Contemporary for dinner.
Our plan was got off to a rocky start when I spotted a sign stating that the HS car park was closed and that guests should park at EP. Luckily I spotted in just in time for us to make a handy turn off towards MK. I thought we would be better off parking up at the Contemporary and getting resort transport to HS and back again for dinner.
The Contemporary has this cool screen displaying the bus due times which I believe they are currently trialling in a few resorts.
Before too long we were on the bus. It’s a bit annoying that the busses at deluxe resorts are shared but we still made it to HS with plenty of time to make the show.
Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooo HOLLYWOOD!
Now there was something both me and Rachel really wanted to get, the black sequin Minnie ears. You know the ones that are always available in pretty much every store? Well… not this time!! We had kept an eye out in MK that morning but didn’t see any so I had downloaded the Shop Parks app (which is AMAZING if you like Disney shopping btw) and could see a few stores in HS that had them in stock. We tried them out… no luck!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
It was NOT a good shopping day so far… Oh well… Still at Disney so nothing was going to kill my spirit!
We decided we better get a spot for the show so walked back to the Streets of America.
Another item I’d seen in haul videos (I know it sounds like I’m doing nothing but shopping right now… I swear I don’t have a problem!) was the ‘that’s a wrap’ shirt which was super cute, Christmassy and would be a great reminder of the times I’d been lucky enough to see the lights before they took them down for good.
I asked a CM and she pointed to a stall that had LOADS of them left.
YAH!!!
Rachel said she wasn’t going to get one but I could see the look on her face when she saw them in person and I knew she would totally cave!!
We put our new tops on and stood in the streets waiting for the show. We were stood about ¼ of the way down the street, the area where Goofy would come to start the show was about halfway down so we could kinda see what was going on. It was actually less crowded than I expected.
We weren’t waiting too long before Goofy made his appearance. There was a quick countdown and then the show started!
I have to say the show as AMAZING! I thought having already seen the lights lit up before I wouldn’t be blown away by it but the way the lights ‘danced’ to the music incredible. I’m so sad this was the last year
We took some photos with the lights
Our matching tops
One big thing I had decided before the trip that I wanted to buy myself was a Dooney & Bourke cross body bag. I wasn’t too sure what design I wanted and I saw on the shop parks app that they had a special edition Star Wars one so of course I wanted to check that out!
I was having trouble with my signal but I knew the name of the store (Watto's Grotto) but the only CM’s I could find didn’t have a clue what I was talking about! I tried around the Launchpad area but couldn’t find any bags… BOO
It was time to leave the park and go for dinner with the one and only Chef Mickey
The HS Christmas Tree looked so pretty
