News New Theater to be built at the Magic Kingdom - now cancelled?

I 2nd this! Tony's Town Square was the 1st Disney restaurant I ever ate at. I have fond memories of the place. Would be a shame to see it close.

I don't know! Every time I take my grandma there (4 times now in the last year and a half) their darn tea kettles leak! I don't know what it is with that restaurant.

Honestly Im sure they could easily make a spot for Mickey in the Circus tent with his friends if not find space somewhere on Mainstreet. Although you know they would never want to give up space from Merch-Mart for a M&G so they will probably just shove them somewhere with some closet space and access for main walkways where they can add a rope queue.

I mean, you're not wrong in the fact that it looks similar, but I don't think they would do that for crowd reasons among other things.. I just thought the wording of their post maybe meant something.

Those were said when installed to be a temp solution.

PS- this is my favorite new announcement.

I am guessing this is in reaction to the new theater going into the Shrek ride at Uni.

Well we will get confirmed sooner or later. Either way, it's a wonderful addition of entertainment to Magic Kingdom.

Putting the park's theater on Main Street is the best decision.

So you can change shows without ending up with something that doesn't fit the land.
Like how Paris' Frontier theater got a Frozen show.

Main Street is kind of "neutral" in theme, so any show will be fine

Really hoping its off the bypass. As mentioned earlier, the size just doesn't look like it would fit aesthetically well in the Town Square. It looks massive.

I'm actually really pumped for this, it was the biggest surprise of the WDW announcements besides the China show (both did get hinted at here, though). My only concern would be crowd flow. It's probably going to be a fairly large theater, dumping so many people out at once into Main Street doesn't sound great.

I hope we are getting something like Mickey and the Magical Map. Honestly, I would not miss Tony's. We went there twice and received awful food and service. It is a shame because it is right in front of the Magic Kingdom.

They said on Main Street U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom. Looking at the building, it's obviously the theater. You can even see the backstage gates that they use when the park is crowded on the left in green.
