So I over heard about a project at Epcot and sure enough there is something going on by inventions west (by club cool). There is a backhoe on site and a fairly large area is walled off (RED). At first I thought this was just the removal of the butterfly garden since the flower and garden fest just ended but the area has been demolished fairly completely. All of the concrete walks are gone and they also cut a trench across the walkway leading to the backside of inventions west presumably for new utilities (YELLOW). here's a diagram of the affected area.

I noticed that the other day as well. Is a pretty large area but then again not really large enough for something much. I noticed they were building a playground area for kids to the right entrance into world showcase

It's supposed to be down for a good majority of the summer. Not sure why. I would hope that they at least expand the size of the walkways there since it's always tight.

If they're running a water line, could be that the area will get a larger splash pad. It would make sense to move it off the main path, add the rubberized ground, etc. Cost isn't that much for something like that.

Now, we've all been complaining about the lack of proper maintenance at EPCOT. I definitely include myself in that demographic. Rides are falling apart, whole scenes don't work, and all that. I don't think this maintenance is exactly what we had in mind, though...

But, its a start. At least they are doing something related to maintenance...even if it is a water pipe.
