Moving old Dumbo, or buying a new Dumbo?

I don't mind if they are identical I just hope they are enhanced. I hope they make the Dumbos have a little movement like Carpets has. Carpets is much better than Dumbo solely because of the Carpets being able to move about it's lateral axis.

I think the enhancement will be the water feature. However, they are selling this as a new experience so I wouldn't be surprised if the ride is longer, includes both height and yaw buttons and perhaps even buttons to wiggle the ears.

I hope so.

Well, based on developments, I've noticed that Timothy may be removed from the central structure. Is this true?

At least one of the spinners is supposed to get storks on top instead of Timothy. You can see them in the concept here:

I could see each spinner having something different on top.

Isn't it also true that the new spinners will hold a few more dumbos than the current one?

One of the pieces of concept art that was released showed one spinner having more Dumbos then the other, but various insiders have said that the two spinners would be the same. Looking at the photos of the new spinner that is now being installed it appears that that is correct, it's doesn't have any more arms then the current one.

Well, the water features are more a function of the base than the ride mechanism.

Plus, if I'm not mistaken, the current Dumbo *was* designed with a water feature in mind, because it was intended for Paris. But when it was installed in Florida the Utilidors underneath wouldn't allow it.

If this is true then why does the Magic Carpet spinner have water? The Utilidors are underneath it also.

I think it was stated that one spinner showed more Dumbos to make it look like it was in motion.

If I'm not mistaken, the utilidor doesn't pass directly below the Carpets. It's slightly north. Furthermore, Dumbo is currently sitting right on top of currency control, and there were fears of flooding out that very important area.

Yeah - when they transform the ride car everyone in line seems to be really intrigued. I think the spinner at AK Dinosaurland has a similar ride car. Haven't ridden that one though. Would love to ride Dumbo again. Last time a family member helped me on but was unable to get me out of it. We held up the ride and the CM couldn't help. Finally a woman in line who worked as an assistant in a special ed class helped. And the Dumbos began to fly again. That was in '97 -Just couldn't try it again. LOL. I'm also hoping for the Seven Dwarf's to have an easy transfer car. I know the cars won't be able to take wheelchairs. I may shut down another ride in a few weeks. I'm trying Snow White before they close it. Haven't gotten on it since 2001. LOL Wish they had an easy transfer car on that one like they do in Disneyland. Peter Pan and Pirates are a no go for me now. But they made one HM car "a little" easier and Jungle Cruise is now completely accessible. So I've gained back two that had been nixed. Can't complain, though, disney is the most accessible place to vacation. Thanks for the reply.
Last I checked they don't.

If I'm not mistaken, the Utilidor essentially goes under the Frontierland/Adventureland stores, and it ends at (or before) the breezeway between Carpets and Country Bears. Whereas there are rooms and hallways under most of central Fantasyland.

The Tunnel Map - Is not an accurate engineered map and is made with certain artist license with lots of stuff omitted. Its just a Cast Member map to find your way around. Both overlays don't entirely line up and never will without a proper engineered map.

Carpets is South of the tunnel. Basements under Pecos and some stores. (As stated by others) It ends at the service courtyard behind Pecos.

If they only added another 200 feet would have put it in the Theme Park #3 gated area across from the Parade Bldg which could have made getting to/from the Parades a lot easier.

my take

I heard both would have more Dumbos...Perhaps when they take the old Dumbo down they will use the existing Dumbos on the new ride and get rid of the (very) old ride mechanism...that is take the Dumbos off the old ride and mount them on the new ride (along with the new/additional Dumbos). This makes the most sense to me.

Looking that the pictures of the new Dumbo spinner that has already been installed you can count 8 visible arms so it's unlikely that it has more then the current 16 in total.
