Here is a link to some additional photos of a backstage area (used by Reedy Creek Improvement District).

These photos were taken the same day as the ones of River Country (see my other thread at: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=112908)

Sorry some of the photos are a little dark. The "chicken" photo will, no doubt, offer some material for more conspiracy theories involving viruses, etc.

My neighbors have kept 4 chickens like that all season for Osceola County testing for west nile virus etc. It is a bellweather to let an area know it needs to start spraying the canals and drainage areas fer skeeters.

I was just relieved that I didn't see any turkey legs being prepared in the same area.

People from out of state may be puzzled by the sentinel chickens, but that is VERY common in Florida. The state health department has sentinel chicken cages like this one set up all over the place. As someone mentioned earlier, the chickens serve one purpose: testing for mosquito-transmitted illnesses, mainly West Nile Virus.

I'm actually quite impressed to see Disney/Reedy Creek is doing this on their own to protect visitors, rather than just relying on the state.
