Monorail to Wilderness Lodge

Agreed. The monorail runs through the Grand Californian at Disneyland (built with a similar look and feel as the WL) and it doesn't take away from it at all.

I like that its a deluxe at a lower price point, like the AKL, because it isn't on the monorail line. I can certainly deal with the boat ride or bus ride.

runs through GC is a bit of a stretch...more like passes very close by. :D

Ok, so let the monorail run really close to the WL. They can put a nice woodsy path to the monorail for the people to walk on and that way most of it will be hidden from the lodge itself.

Or, I still like the train idea and that could run right up to the lodge. I don't think they can ever have enough ways to travel around Disney.

keep in mind that the more convenient it is to get from the resort to the the theme parks, the more expensive the rooms in that resort are going to be. Thats why Contemp, Poly, GF, Boardwalk and Yacht & Beach are so expensive and AKL and WL are not (compared to those other Deluxes).

Somebody has posted about The Contemporary Resort that the opposite site of the Building was room
for creating another monorail to have access to any planned hotels on the Bay Lake side.
Wilderness Lodge I don't see why the Monorail would not fit, just like Disney's Grand Californian Resort.
I read there were plans for more resorts surrounding Bay Lake.:inlove:

Personally I see the merits of both having the monorail go to WL and not having it go there. I agree that it being not on the monorail has helped keep its prices (for a deluxe resort that is) lower than the others in that vicinity. And I agree that the boat ride from WL to MK is great and really one of the perks of staying there. On the other hand, considering the amount of money Disney has spent on some garbage attractions, they certainly could afford to extend it to the WL.......AND they could see to it that the monorail station at WL would be properly designed and themed to fit in with the resort itself. I'm sure it wouldn't be this gaudy grey building that stands out in stark contrast to the log cabin look of the resort; after all look at the Polynesian monorail station - it fits right in.

On the topic of monorail expansion, I would rather see them build a stop at the World Showcase. The track runs right through there and would eliminate that dreadful walk from the front of the park.

Why does Wilderness Lodge need a monorail?

When looking at the map of Disney the monorail seems to go kind of close to the Wilderness Lodge. Since the Wilderness Lodge is a deluxe resort and in the MK area would it really cost that much to just add it to the monorail loop? It seems to me that only a short amount of track would be needed. Any reason why not?
Maybe the monorail doesn't fit the theme of Wilderness Lodge? But neither do Polynesian or Grand Floridan so it's a money or logistical reason.

We had dinner at Artist point when we were there a couple weeks ago and it would make so much sense to add it to the loop. Took us over 30 minutes to get from the Poly to WL because of the dumb boats. They could easily build the station a bit of a walk from the main building to make building the track turns more gradual and also help keep the theme of the main building by hiding it.

Then they could cut down the boat usage which has to be very expensive for them and just makes everyone taking them frustrated.

30 minutes is a pretty good travel time for that trek! We love the boats.

So how come a monorail stopping at aVictorian era themed hotel and a Polynesian themed hotel is perfectly fine?
Jack, it doesn't add to the theming at the other resorts either. That's all I'm commenting on. As far as convenience, it would definitely give an alternate means to get to other resorts and to MK, probably easing the bus and boat crowds in the process. Personally I enjoy the boat rides and would much rather have lower room prices and more of a feeling of seclusion than a monorail. If they ever do add a monorail it won't stop me from staying at the Lodge, as my wife and I have every year since it opened, and I'd use it, but my opinion is still that it would detract from the theming, just as it does at the Grand Floridian and Poly.
Have a good day.

I read something awhile back and it said that the monorail costs over $1 million a mile to build so if thats true, i dont see them expanding at all. They do need to refurb the trains though
