If I recall correctly, the program used to make the AC simulation was also based on a gaming platform, though a much more advanced one. (I believe it was called Half-Life, but I'm not sure.)

Lots of work, either way. I couldn't/wouldn't do it. Same for all those pseudo-Disney RCT parks.

oh yes, I am aware of this... but regardless of what platform was used, the program itself was far more advanced.
