Is this the only time this has happened and been recorded? I found the footage fascinating! It's a shame so many people got injured but amazing that it hadn't become a disaster!

Astrologists everywhere are going ballistic. What a celestial event.
And rightly so. It is almost fortunate that it happened in Russia. Nearly every car in the country has a dash cam providing multiple angles of this event.

No, but this is probably the biggest and best recorded one. Fireballs are not that uncommon and they do get caught on tape from time to time. This one over Russia was particularly large and it put on one hell of a show.

You are exactly right! It is like the unfortunate plane crash a few weeks back that was caught on a dash cam. I am waiting for some of the journals I follow to come out with articles on this. This will provide so much more data on meteor and how they burn on entry.

The 2102 DA14 asteroid is supposed to also pass by Earth later today if this isn't enough space rock for you. This event was unrelated to the asteroid passing.

I was looking something up around 2am on Google and they had a doodle in honor of the asteroid passing. When I woke up and read this news that was the 1st thing I went to check on. They of course removed it.

Anyone else find it funny how utterly calm all the Russians seem in the videos? They're just kind of like "hmm, that's different." If this happened in America I'm pretty sure people would be screaming and panicking.

A couple of years back, there was a meteor that landed in the country about 15 minutes away from me. I never saw the actual thing, but I saw the entire sky light up. I thought it was thunder as I heard a boom, but then the sky kind of turned greenish. Nobody got hurt as most of it burned up in the atmosphere, but some people made some nice money from the rocks that landed on their property.

EDIT: I mistyped, it never landed near me. What I meant to say was that remains of it landed by me. Sorry. :p

Am I the only one who is really worried about this?
If sci-fi movies have taught me anything, it's that this is very likely the first step of a devastating alien invasion.:eek::eek:

I misspoke before when I said it landed near where I live. I meant to say some remains/debris/loose rocks landed near where I live. Here's a video of the one I saw.
