Main Street Bakery to Serve Starbucks Coffee

Let's see - Crystal Palace could become McDonald's and Plaza Restaurant could become Burger King and then Ronald and the King can have a sword fight on the Castle stage! While the branding for the Bakery has been done somewhat tastefully (no pun intended), it is sad that WDW has resorted to such open sponsorships within the parks. I'd rather these be reserved for resort areas and Downtown Disney. By the way, which costs are being kept down by these partnerships? Certainly not the resort room rates or ticket fees!

You are clearly forgetting the massive FedEx signs that used to be everywhere in Space Mountain, Edy's signs at many ice cream stops, the obvious Coke Sponsorship all over the place, Eastern Airlines' sponsorship of If You Had Wings, Illuminations has always maintained a sponsorship. What about Imagination and EO that have pretty much ALWAYS had Kodak? You seem to be overlooking just how large sponsorship has always been in Disney Parks even before WDW even existed.

Let's add in the MASSIVE Gov't Motors sponsorship of Test Track and the car dealership it has at the end of the ride. That has been there since the ride opened.

Disney Food Blog did a side-by-side comparison of the two a couple months ago. They talked about the icing thing, but they couldn't find anything to substantiate the claims of a "maple" taste.

http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2012/...ow-down-gastons-tavern-vs-main-street-bakery/

We had a sampling from each over 10 days around Christmas/New Years and the maple flavor was hit and miss at the GT. The icing was also sometimes cold on the warm roll compared to melted into the roll at MSB. Because the icing was almost always melted in, the rolls always seemed sweeter and more moist at MSB compared to the dry, cold (and sometimes maple hinted) rolls at GT.

I like these designs!!! They should sell these.

I agree that Ariel looks better than the regular Starbucks mermaid, but it just wouldn't be right, IMO.
lol, it's not that Ariel looks better, just for Disney Parks, it would be adorable. I love themes.
The original mermaid is nice and mature looking, but at DisneyWorld, it's all about being a kid again, and everything being DISNEY! So I thought that it would be a nice touch.

McDonalds partnership, including in-park food and the sponsorship of the Dinosaur attraction ended in 2008 after a multi-year partnership that started in 1997.

Here's a thread from 2004 that had a list of current sponsors from that time. http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/list-of-disney-sponsors.33241/

And then there's this list of corporate in-park sponsors that have been at Disneyland itself -> http://www.mouseinfo.com/info/index.php/Corporate_Sponsors_(Disneyland_Resort)

Long story short, corporate sponsorship has been a part of Disney life since before the parks.

Using Ariel as the logo would be breaking the theme, when you think about it.
I said, as a Disney Exclusive. Not for Starbucks all over. It's just a cute idea. I'm not saying I'm mad Starbucks uses their original mermaid. I came across Ariel in the Starbucks Logo online and I thought it looked fun and cute, just thought I'd share. It made me smile when I saw it.

The Company was named for the Chief Mate from Moby Dick. Their logo is of a twin-tailed mermaid or Siren or so the company purports. The logo used outside MSB appears to be the original 1971 Starbucks logo.

Trust me, I understand what you're saying. I understand what you were thinking when you saw Ariel in replacement of the Starbucks mermaid. You said you were a fan of theme and I'm saying, even if this were a Disney exclusive, it would be breaking the theme. Main Street is supposed to "take place" in the late 1800s/early 1900s. Ariel is an 80s cartoon, she just doesn't fit. Starbucks came to be in the 70s, but they've made the current logo look more vintage. Ariel would completely destroy the illusion.

I was thinking along the lines of Disney in general, not MainStreet.
But I see why that wouldn't work. =/

On another note, there should be more than just one Starbucks in the park anyway, and if they make another in a non historical location, then I wish Ariel would be in it. XD Maybe I'm campy. But idc.

The other three parks will be receiving a location serving Starbucks. Maybe you'll get your wish.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
It's not a Starbucks.

It's the Main Street Bakery featuring Starbucks. Just like before it was the Main Street Bakery featuring Sara Lee products and the Main Street Bakery featuring Nestle products.
Whatever its called it just no longer has treats or items that I cannot get just down the street at a Starbucks. Yes there is Cinnabon but those are not the same as Disneys either. Also have never found a coffee cake I liked as much as from the bakery either anywhere else. Starbucks stuff is okay but the bakery items whatever brand they were, were so much fresher and tastier IMO. Even over the years when they changed products they were pretty close to what was offered before to where the average person could barely tell if at all. Now there is just no comparison and that Is all us fans of the bakery are trying to say. Also all of us plan to contact WDW if we have not already. We don't come on here as a replacement for a formal "complaint" but rather we come here for opinions and support as that what these wonderful forums are for. :)

Sorry, but that's like saying "Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom isn't a Rainforest Cafe. It's a restaurant featuring food from the Rainforest Cafe."

OK, not that much of a stretch, but come on - There are NO items that used to be served at the Bakery left. All of the products being sold there are Starbucks. They can call it whatever they want - It's a Starbucks.

I don't know why people keep comparing sponsorship with this. It's apples and oranges. If Space Mountain's cars were re-themed as Fed-Ex trucks and the ride was re-themed to guests being drivers trying to get packages to places on time, then yes, it would be comparable.
