IGN Filmforce reports that Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Bend It Like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl star Kiera Knightly has joined the cast of producer Jerry Bruckheimer's King Arthur. Knightly will play the role of Guinevere in the movie.
Antoine Fuqua directs the story about the history and politics of the period during which Arthur ruled -- when the Roman empire collapsed and skirmishes over power broke out in outlying countries -- as opposed to the mystical elements of the tale on which past Arthur films have focused.
Clive Owen will star as Arthur, opposite Stephen Dillane as "Merlin".
