At $27.68 {£19.46} per Adult, is the dessert party a good value, taking into account food, fireworks viewing, and overall experience?

Is the Wishes Dessert Party a Good Value?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
It's actually $49.99 for adults. It changed early last year to be more expensive and offers more items like sparkling cider, fruits, chocolate covered strawberries, etc besides all the deserts now. It's not really a value but it's definately worth doing for the reserved spot watch wishes from and some great deserts.

I've also heard that the tables aren't reserved anymore, and the tables are more of a first come first serve kind of thing. I liked when there were assigned seats.

any chance of telling me for sure if this has changed. i hear it from several sources third hand, but no one can verify for me that it is true.
If it IS true, the value for us is totally gone. It used to be that we could arrive just before the fireworks and still have a good view without being all squished in on Main St. but if the party starts one hour before fireworks, and I have heard that the line now starts an hour before that to get the best table (all third hand again remember), that's 2 hours of my park time to be not squished. Not worth it to me.
We have a reservation for it next week, and are still considering canceling.......

It is still reserved seating. It doesn't matter if you're first in line or last, you have a table assigned to you and once you check in, you are escorted to your table by a CM.
Value is completely subjective. IMO, it's a great experience and something that my family and I enjoyed doing twice. $50 for dessert is a lot, but as with most other things at Disney, you're also paying for an experience. If you've never done it before, I'd recommend doing it at least once and then make your decision on if you'd do it again.
For us, we did it back in January and would do it again, but probably more as a special occasion.

and I agree the desserts AND SPARKLING CIDER are not worth $50, but the ability to be away from the maddening crowds is to us.

We did it a couple of years ago. My wife loved it, my daughter and I not so much. I am not a fancy dessert kind of person and I think my daughter was over tired. If the tables aren't reserved any more I wouldn't do it just b/c that is one more long line I have to get in for a while.

Having done this twice, before the price increase, i would say no. There are much better places to view the fireworks.
For us, the fact that you still have to get there early to get a good seat was the main reason I say it isn't a good value(the same reason the parade and Fireworks viewing for FP+ sucked). There are plenty of other spots you can go to get a better view, and the offerings for food were not very diverse. I would suggest, going to the ice cream shop, getting a kitchen sink, and getting one of the seats there instead, better desserts and better view.

Although WDW changes things all the time, so it may be different in June anyway... I emailed WDW about it a week ago, and they haven't emailed me back. They called me at home and left a message to call them back but the person who called me isn't in until later this week. I wish that had just responded with a yes or a no in an email.

In my opinion- you can just buy a couple of treats at the Main Street Bakery and find a area just as good as the Wishes party area,
and make your own (cheaper) Wishes Desert Party!

You do not need to wait in line for "a good seat". Your table is reserved with your name.

we always used to grab a good table & wait for the nightly fireworks before they changed it to the desert party.

Maybe you are mixing it up with the EPCOT dessert party, which is NOT reserved seating (unless that has changed to include reserved searing). EPCOT has enough seats for everyone, but it is not reserved. Everyone sits where they want. That means that even though there are enough CHAIRS, depending on the number of parties of 2 (or 1) there may not be enough TABLES.

No, I'm not mixing it up. I read about Wishes not having assigned seating anymore on another Disney board. People on there seemed to go back and forth on whether or not Wishes had the assigned seating still.
I knew that the Illuminations one had tables, but I didn't think that it had CHAIRS. That is why I never booked that one. Did you experience it having CHAIRS?
