Bye bye hat, to me you were the icon of the park just as the castle is to the MK, the tree to the AK and Spaceship Earth is to Epcot. What will we pose in front of now!!!
I know the answer see for some years now a Chinese Theater was hiding behind a big hat, but like magic it will reappear in 2015...

I keep asking myself why so many people in this forum for so negative and sarcastic!!! Everything gets answered with some shady lady answer...Can we be nice to each other? Some people like the hat...some dont...NO NEED TO BE NEGATIVE. This is DISNEY...its supposed to be uplifting. Theres enough in this world to bring us down...why do it to each other??? MIND THE ENERGY U BRING INTO THE FORUMS

I just think it's terrible sad it's like removing the castle from Magic Kingdom or the world from Epcot Or the tree from animal kingdom

No it's like if they put a giant hat in front of the castle then removed it. The hat is not original to the park and blocked the view of theatre that used to be the more appropriate focal point at the end of the street.

Anxious to see what this looks like when I run past it during the Marathon. Might be a nice pick-me-up about mile 23.

I thought it was a strange date to pick, as all the marathon races are coming, unless they can move that dang hat out in a night???

It would be a great pick-me-up and bring a smile to my face to see it gone or going.
Good Luck!!!

I will say that I do find it interesting that many Disney fans want an icon which resembles a big piece in Disney history (Fantasia) gone. I always liked the hat, but I hate how they just dumped it right in front of the Chinese Theater. Most people don't even know that the building even exists anymore.

I have mixed feelings about the hat leaving, but either way, it'll be cool to experience the view the same way it was back in the 90's!

The Hat is only relevant if themed entertainment is inherent inferior to, and dictated by film. A very common view inside Disney and one that is showing alarming growth amongst so-called theme park fans.

Do we know with any certainty if the view will not be obstructed by something else? Everyone is so happy that we will have a view of the Chinese theatre, but Disney could replace the hat with a giant film prop. We'll have to wait and see. I hope this is Disney trying to recapture the theme of the park but I guess time will tell. Hope they announce their plan for HS soon...

My wild, uninformed guess: They'll wall it off and move the pins out then start demolition after Sunday. Yeah, half and full will run past it. Forgot about the half.

I don't think so. I think it's due to the TCM upgrade to the Great Movie Ride. Something tells me TCM wasn't very interested in investing in an attraction that's hidden away behind a hat, so they agreed to remove it.

Wonder what the removal will do for capacity on the GMR? Hopefully wonders between the slight refresh and the sudden improved view...

I'll admit I totally missed the ride the first time I was there partly because of the BAH...

I think you mean wait times. Capacity is a fixed value

Weeks ago my DS told me it was to come out the 11th, but Disney is known to fudge dates when it comes to construction or demo. I'm just so happy to see it go. My DD 23 that has been going to the world since she was 2 months old can't remember the Hat not being there. I want to see her take on the restored view.
