Just wondering if as a guest staying at one Disney resort is "allowed" to use pools and other Disney resorts? As far as I know, there are no wrist bands or anything so I mean, would anyone even know you weren't a guest at that particular resort?

The pools at each resort are for those guests only. AoA's pools are fenced, and you have to use your key card to get into them.

You are not supposed to use any pools outside of the ones at your resort. Lifeguards may ask to see your room key, and as mentioned, the Nemo pool at AoA has a keycard lock on it.

Doesn't Stormalong Bay at YC/BC actually require wrist bands...i.e. to ensure you're a guest specifically at one of those two resorts? i.e. it goes beyond card there.

If you are a DVC member, you can use any of the pools except for Stormalong Bay and Animal Kingdom Lodge's pool.

Yes, they check your key and give you a band. Other resorts also have key slots. The pool at BLT is this way. We did sneak in out friends at the Boardwalk pool last winter.

We need time for things to happen.
I don't really know. We've stayed at PORS many times and never felt the need to wander down and try the pool at POFQ. Every one seemed happy with the main pool and the quiet pools. For those that would like to see a side by side of the two pools, here goes.
i never liked the pool at fq but i was a big fan of the rs pool for some reason.

Well, close, but not...exactly.

Pool Hopping Information

When staying on your Membership at Disney's Vero Beach Resort or any DVC Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort, you and any Guests staying with you are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a host or hostess at the front desk of the resort you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current Key to the World card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other resort hotel pools.

Pool hopping is not available at the pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas. There are no exceptions to this policy. As a reminder, during times of high occupancy, please be mindful of the limited number of pool chairs available, and refrain from leaving towels or personal items on unoccupied pool chairs.
Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, Disney Vacation Club Members and any Guests staying with them may not pool hop during the following dates*:
2013 Blockout Dates
February 16 - 23 (Sunday - Saturday)
March 24 - April 7 (Sunday - Sunday)
May 25 - 28 (Saturday – Tuesday)
June 29 - July 8 (Saturday - Monday)
August 30 - Sept 2 (Friday - Monday)
November 25 - December 1 (Monday - Sunday)
December 15 - January 5 (Sunday - Sunday)
*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity
