Since most probably would see GOTG as a fit in DHS, where could another construction project happen in DHS? If/when Disney announces another project at DHS where would you predict it goes? And this would be a new building from scratch, not like GMR and Mickey.

Another way of saying it: Does DHS have further room for expansion (Expansion pads like in Epcot) or current attraction taking up large amount of space (Backlot Tours, etc.)?

There's no reason that the current Energy Pavilion has to continue to have an Energy theme. Even if one wants to keep it more edutainment oriented, they can change it to something else; there is no reason to have an artificial constraint of it being that specific concept.
Of course, they could. To me, if just seems like Energy is a pretty good topic for a section of the park with themes of The Seas, The Land, Space, Imagination, Transportation and Communication/Advancement of technology. Adding a GotG pavilion to that line up seems odd.
Putting in a Weather Pavilion would be fine, but as long as the concept of energy is valid, why change it? There has been an energy pavilion in Epcot since the park opened.

The UoE to GotG change IMHO would be like closing down the Living Seas making the aquarium the queue and replacing the whole pavilion with just a single 5-6 minute Nemo ride. While I don't care for Nemo in the Seas pavilion, at least the pavilion still has a "Seas" theme. When they added Soarin to The Land they didn't tear down the Land pavilion and just put Soarin in to replace the whole pavilion. This feels like what they are doing to Energy. They seem to be replacing a whole pavilion with a single ride that has nothing to do with energy or at least "Earth energy". I hope I am wrong.

Pardon me if this has been answered in the preceding 300+ pages, but if GotG is good to go, how did WDW get around the whole Uni-Marvel exclusivity in Florida deal?

Guardians, being new and home grown, was always a grey area. I guess it's becoming more black and white now.
