Launched at Google's I/O keynote a few days ago, Google Photos provides unlimited photo and video storage. There are limitations on size but for the average user they won't really see a difference. Up to 16 megapixel images and 1080p video. If the file is larger than those dimensions Google Photos will automatically scale down. You can upload raw and tiff files but they will count towards your Google Storage. After my phone backed up my 1200+ photos, I never knew I took this many to begin with, I went about very easily creating albums and organizing photos. After a while the "assistant" part of the app started suggesting color corrections and this "Story" mode. With all of my photos on my phone having GPS Data the app new I took a trip to Walt Disney World last year and started to piece together a pretty cool timeline.
Since I took a photo when we arrived on the plane it new from the GPS data that I traveled from DFW to MCO
And again from MCO to our resort. The entire time showing an Indiana Jones style Dot and dash map. Now if only it was animated.
It recognizes and assigns locations to where you took the photos, You can change and rename these if it gets the location wrong.
You can then share the "Story" you created on Facebook, Twitter, and Google +. Or if you would like to post to another website or these forums you can copy an http link.
