Hey gang! Long time no see! Figured since it's been a long time since my last post on here, I'd come back with something very helpful. Recently a new glorious version of Photoshop has been released (dubbed CS3), but unfortunately, it's not priced for the every day user. But fret not! Here are a couple of free and GOOD alternatives to Photoshop.
First up:
GIMPSHOP (adaptation of the Gimp)-
This is a hack of the Gimp which makes it act and look almost identical to Photsoshop:
http://www.gimpshop.com/download.shtml
ALSO..here is a link to an addon that lets you run Photoshop Plugins directly from inside Gimp:
http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/pspi.html
Just put the file inside the extracted file pspi.exe in your GIMP plug-ins folder.
Second up
The newcomer and very impressive Paint.net -
VERY impressive toolset and best of all..free.
http://www.getpaint.net/download.html
Hope this info helps.
Oh..and of course..a simple google search will reveal a TON of tutorials for each program
