I've always wondered about this..And I do hope many can help here..But what is the purpose of a display of personal items and knick-knacks in the guest hotel rooms? Like Dolls, Signs, Etc...While I was at Pop Century Jan 07 I saw a Beer Can Pyramid with 2 pal mickey's passed out on the sides of it:lol: ..Care to share some light on this anyone?

i don't know about that kind of window display, but mousekeeping made of for us one time. the whole family was there an we had a bunch of stuffed animals and towels. mousekeeping made a cute little scene with our souviners in the window.

Wow..now this is a topic i can relate to!

I am a bonifide "window decorating" freak. Yes, i am. Every trip i bring special things to use for decorating my resort window. Lots of printed out pictures of EPCOT, Figment, Mick n' pals, Park scenes....plus Tron, the rock band QUEEN, and whatever else strikes my fancy at the time! These i will plaster all over the front window with scotch tape i also bring from home. I will also bring a small ziploc bag full of small Disney character toys ( usually from Happy Meals...) and my Roger Rabbit bendy ( gotta support Roger!). I will place these on the bottom window sill facing out the window, and during the day when i stop by my room i often hear the kids passing by squeal with delight at seeing the characters in the window.

I'm weird...as i often "re-decorate" the hotel rooms i stay in, regardless of where i am! It gives it a "homey" feel! At Disney though, part of it is also you become part of the "show" by adding your own embellishments.

I am already piecing together a huge display i plan on bringing for my upcoming trip, honouring EPCOT's 25th! Should be nice...look for it at All Star Music next month!

perhaps I'm alone on this but after a night a Pleasure island or Boardwalk or World Showcase (drink around the world...yeah!) with the girls it's a lot easier to find your room if there's a beer can pyramid in the window than trying to remember if you're in room 718 or 817 or 178 or 432 or...

I don't do it, but I love walking around the resorts and seeing them because they make me smile. Most of them (of course not in the case of the beer can one) are done by children who are showing off their hard earned loot. When I was a kid I remember doing it once or twice and it was always fun for some reason.

Saw this at Pop Century during Star Wars Weekend in June. I thought about it myself but I was on the fourth floor in the back so no one would really see it unless they were walking by up there. But it is nice and fun to see when it is done.

Exactly!

I used to attend a yearly convention in St Louis where we pretty much drank all weekend. (Isn't that what conventions are for?) To make life easier, we started taping a giant, 5ft tall pink cardboard flamingo to our hotel room door. It not only made finding it easier, but was very convenient for giving friends directions to your room (5th floor, giant pink flamingo on the door. Can't miss it!)

I'm planning to decorate our door/window at WDW in October, just because it's fun. And hell, our trip has its own everything at this point (business cards, t-shirts in the works, etc.), we're shameless. Might as well go all out!

We've had our window decorated by Mousekeeping with the kids toys before. That was awesome.

I love seeing the decorated windows. It makes the walking more entertaining.

I decorated our window only once. I made a big framed tribute to my Grampa who had passed away. He looooved Disney. I had a pic of me as a baby in a stroller with Goofy reaching for my hand & Grampa behind me. I also had a pic of Grampa wearing his mouse ears with his big, silly Grampa-grin. I wrote a little enscription for him, about how he'll always be there with me each time I go. I set it up in the window with stuffies of the Fab 5. Lots of people read it. We heard comments. All good. I took pics of the display and then gave the framed original to my Gramma. She loved it. :)

I don't think we'll have an interior walkway window to decorate at the Contemporary. I think I'll make a door-sized banner, tho. That will be fun!

Now this is a great idea! I had never done it before, but you better believe I will do it now! (Not with a flamingo, but with something!)

On my last trip to the world I brought along my big sister in my sorority. We had huge wooden greek letters we draped in christmas lights that we put in the window at All Star Sports (I just went to type the abbreviation to that and realized what it spelled  ).

We had random women stop and tell us that they were also our "sisters" from different parts of the country! It was pretty cool.

Next time I really want to do an ode to extinct EPCOT Center attractions. :D

yea we had fun being dorky and doing it. unfortunatly we were all the way at the back of the hotel so no one saw it, lol. But everyone is right, it makes finding your room easier, lol

wow, i've never heard of this.
Then again, it could be because I've only stayed at:
1. Wilderness Campground
2. the Dolphin
and 3. off-site.
None of which have windows to decorate. :brick:

Oh well. Guess i'll have to set up my figures of the Incredibles or something when i'm at Pop in october.
