JIM CUMMINGS
"Winnie the Pooh," "Tigger"
Emmy Award-winning actor Jim Cummings voices the roles of Tigger and Pooh in Disney Channel's new Playhouse Disney animated series, "My Friends Tigger & Pooh."
One of the busiest and most versatile voiceover actors working today, Cummings is best known as Disney's official voice of Winnie the Pooh, a role he's had for 20 years and the voice of Tigger exclusively for over eight years. He currently voices both characters in every medium available including all television, home video and feature films.
In 1987, Cummings was selected to carry on the legacy and vocal characterization created by Sterling Holloway in the original Disney Winnie the Pooh theatrical featurettes. His portrayal of Winnie the Pooh has earned him two Emmy Awards for his work on Disney Channel's "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh." Cummings has exclusively performed the voice of Tigger since 1999.
Cummings was first discovered in 1984 by the legendary Mel Blanc. That same year, he made his Disney debut as the voice of Lionel in the television series "Dumbo's Circus." Cummings went on to voice roles in some of Disney's most beloved feature films including "Pooh's Heffalump Movie," "The Tigger Movie," "Piglet's Big Movie," "Brother Bear 2," "The Lion King," "The Jungle Book 2," "The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin," "All Dogs Go to Heaven II," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "Pocahontas," "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and "Hercules."
Cummings' television credits for Disney include "Darkwing Duck," "Bonkers," "Goof Troop," "Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers," "TaleSpin," "Mighty Ducks," "The Replacements" and "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," among others.
One of the best "voice matches" in animation, Cummings is often called upon to dub songs for actors who do not sing. He is able to match an actor's voice so closely that it is virtually impossible to detect where that actor's voice ends and Cummings' begins.
Cummings' other feature film credits include "Shrek," "The Road to El Dorado," "Anastasia," "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" and many more. His additional television credits "Taz-Mania," "Tiny Toon Adventures," "CatDog," "The Powerpuff Girls," and Warner Brothers Animation's "Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs."
In addition to his feature film and television credits, Cummings' voiceover work includes a variety of movie trailers, commercials and public service announcements, including the voice of the loveable Smokey the Bear for the U.S. Forestry Service's national fire safety campaign.
Born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, with New Orleans as his adopted hometown, Cummings currently resides in Southern California with his wife Stevie. He is the proud father of three daughters, and he and his wife are expecting a new arrival later this year.
