AP Fraud

So we just bought annual passes for the first time (yay!) and I was thinking that although the adult ones have the fingerprint the kids do not and anyone could use a kid AP. I don't even know how they would even catch you!

Also on a fingerprint note... Mine was acting weird all week. Sometimes it liked my left pointer and sometimes my right. I think there are definite glitches in the system since fingerprints are all unique!

Just an observation. Can't wait for our next trip in November!

Im pretty sure you always use the same finger. The one you use first is the one you always need to use. its the only one it will recognize. The glitches usually occur after they have been used so many times. with the old paper tickets, the magnetic stripes get funky after hundreds of runs through the machine. Congratulations on your APs. We took that step about four years ago and could never go back without them. In fact, when we renew in August, we will be purchasing in DL. Its the ultimate continental park hopper!!!!!!!

You should always use the same finger. Also, while all fingerprints are unique, the little bit of data the scanners gather is far from unique. I have heard that the "uniqueness" is only about 1:100 to 1:1000.

I once saw a CM confiscate a AP because the Teens finger did not match and he refused to show ID. I am not sure what happened next he was escorted to Customer Service...

Was at EPCOT yesterday and they were acting strange it would not accept my wife's AP. Mine was fine upon first entry. I had to run back to the car and when I came back through it did not work on one reader but did on another.

They don't take finger prints. It's a misconception and only collects biometric data. Also I'm sure there's probably something on the back of the card that identifies it as a child's annual pass.

At DHS last Thursday, I was asked to show my ID along with my AP to the parking attendant. When I asked why they are doing this now he replied that some AP's had been found for sale on Ebay. This happened at Epcot as well.

You have to use the same finger that you used the first time or you'll confuse the system. It actually measures finger length, not fingerprints. All adults, not just APs have to scan their finger. So if an adult goes in without the finger scan, I'm sure they'll be suspicious.

Yup - and I suspect the poor thing is weaker than that... given Disney's clearly limited DB resources? They can't store 20KB of fingerprint information for EVERY GUEST. They can't even maintain restaurant data, for god's sake...

No - that so called FP system is a weenie at best.

We've had friends get in with each other's passes if that tells you anything about how effective it is.

I always want to do that (especially now that I can just get in whenever and my pass is effectively pointless) but I'm afraid that the one time I would do it, it wouldn't work and I would get in trouble or something.

My son's acted up last weekend upon entering AK. (turns out he used his thumb instead of his pointer..duh) anyway, he didn't have his ID on him. CM asked him if he was really the name on the card. He said yes...she said..you sure...he said yep i'm sure...she let him in and that was that.

Some people say the finger pints are a façade system that doesn't do anything to get people to avoid using stolen or fake tickets. But I use finger print technology to clock into where I work at Kroger and it's always 100% accurate. If a company like Kroger has that technology, I'm pretty sure Disney does as well.

Is it allowed if you have a regular 5 day park hopper ticket to let someone use the days you dont? If so, whats the difference in letting them use your AP? Its basically just a 365 day park hopper ticket? I have an AP which means I can go into the parks every day of the year and I paid for that. Whats the difference if its me or someone else? The person would probly buy food, drinks, souvenirs, etc., thats money Disney is still profiting. Just arguing the semantics.

No. Tickets are not transferable.
