All stars or off site for one night?

We decided to drive instead of flying. Don't want to drive st night, so we'll be arriving the night before our check in at the Contemporary. Thinking of staying at one of the All Stars or off site for just that one night, before checking into CR the next morning. Thoughts on which hotel to stay at? Is this a stupid idea?

We did this very thing last month. We stayed one night at All Star Music before checking into the Poly. Highly recommend Music. If you'd like more details about our stay you can read about it in the first few pages of my trip report.

When we drive down we always time it to arrive around dinner time the night before our WDW check in day. We always stay at a nearby off site hotel - usually one if the hotels in the Marriott Village. Even if we don't use points to stay free, we can get a larger, more comfortable room, at a better price. It's only a 10 minute drive to our WDW resort (after we've had our free breakfast). And the Disney resort will store our luggage if our room isn't ready. So we still make RD that morning.
