Is WDW or Universal Escape more technologically advanced?

Both have their pros and cons in this area, but overall I think WDW is more technologically advanced. WDW is innovative and original, but the majority of its rides are 10-20 years old, if not more. At IOA and in parts of USF, the technology used for effects and actual ride systems are simply superior to those in WDW (i.e Spiderman, Poseidon, E.T., Kong, etc.). Transportation at Universal is definitely more organized, though its kind of unfair to compare since WDW is so much larger. However, WDW has the upperhand in shows, queue capacity/organization, cleaning/waste management, service in general, and in its fastpass service. OVerall, UNiversal has more advanced rides, while Disney has more advanced everything else.

WDW has better animatronics, and generally better rides. The only exceptions I could feasibly see are Universal's coasters and Spidey, each of which don't have technology that's that innovative. Their coasters may be more intense, but in terms of technology..they have one LIM launch, as does disney. Spidey is a mixture of old technology...

always thought magnets were more technologically advanced than spinning tires...they have been using spinning tires to get coasters moving since the 40s or 50s...maybe even the 20s!

Man has been using magnets for... how long?

Seriously though, I don't know why you're even trying to argue over that because everyone knows LIMs/LSMs are more advanced.

I think we have had the WHEEL longer than we've had electromagnets...anyway, so we agree disney is more advanced? Great. Case closed. NEXT TOPIC!

Disney Imagineers did an AWFUL lot of work getting the LIMs to work right when they were brand new, as they were building Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon.

Nope, Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon uses a catapult launch, not LIMs. The first coaster to use LIMs/LSMs were both Flight of Fears (2 clones that opened the same year - 1996, one at Paramount's King's Island, and one at Paramount's King's Dominion.) These were manufactured by Premier.

Im not going to really vote for the technaciality of rides here.. I mean lets see Spidey has alot of things going on in that ride.. Why do you think it keeps breaking down..? But like Space Mountain..Lets see run a projecter and a ride system... HMMMMM.. When Spidey has more then just a projecter and a ride system.. It has motion simulators . 4D effects.. etc..

But then again.. RnR that has sound systems lights *( interior*) ride system etc..

Then you have dueling Dragons.. Lets see here... Ride system.. Thats it..

I hope you get my SMALL drift... They both are equal in my eyes... Each park has equal amount of technology.. I dont count Big Thunder as any kind of " technology".. Just becuase its themed... I mean all disney has is themed rides.. U.S. has Themed and technology.,,,,

OK i think im just going to have to go with Universal with technology.. Not to mention " Twister"..

Twister was crap. If they're saying that little spout of water and air is an F5 tornado, they are really misleading people. The only technology Twister had was stings, water, and a few fans.

If Disney thinks that sitting in the dark with a harness pressing down on you is "being attacked by an alien", they are really misleading people.

I like both Alien Encounter and Twister. The only reason you are saying Twister was crap because its at Universal. That is the ONLY reason, and if Disney had built the exact same thing you would love it.

Creating an enclosed vortex like that is harder than you think.

Ah, but the difference between Twister and Alien ENcounter is that Alien Encounter is all fantasy, there are no such things as aliens. So AE is not "preparing" you for anyting, because it will never happen. An F5 tornado however, is reality. And when they say that that rinky little swirl of water and air is the most extreme tornado that can happen, they are misleading people who may someday experience one to htink "Oh, that was nothing. I can handle an F5 tornado." That is the difference. There is no misleading on AE because it is fiction, Aliens do not exist. There IS misleading on Twister because Tornados do exist and they are much worse then that.

Well, what do you want? Them to create a vortex as powerful as a real F5 so it sucks the entire audience into it and kills them?

they shouldn't call it something it isn't. Twisters are ranked based on speed and width of the base of the twister. They should say "we are going to create an F1 tornado in here". I think the fact that Alien Encounter has several Audio-Animatronics sets it above Twister....

 Umm, guys? The question at the top of the thread was which one was most technologically advanced. I didn’t ask which one had the coolest attractions and in order to qualify that statement, you have to look beyond the obvious stuff… To get the ball rolling in the right direction I’ll give you an example of what I’m talking about. The floats in MK are directed by a series of underground magnets that allow them to be steered without on-float drivers and the audio coming out of the speakers on the streets is controlled to stay in sync with the parade when it stops both for expected and unexpected reasons… They also utilize a trash system that uses vacuum tubes which was the first of its kind in this country and its system for dealing with water overflow provides a unique, ecologically sound method to prevent flooding in all guest areas regardless of almost any weather condition… That’s the kind of stuff I’m thinking of. Not if AE or Twister is better.

um... from what I have read so far... I can not tell if Tom Morrow is a Universal fan or a Disney fan. When I think I have reached a decision, he always says something negative about the one i was going to pic. Just wanting HIM to clear things up a little. I guess I consider myself a Disney fan, because I have not been to Universal, and I dont think I like the idea of... how did we say it?... oh yes... Fish spitting at little children and The Hulk ripping my head off. Personally that does not really want to make me go to Universal anythime soon. I love Epcot but I have not been there since 1997 so I dont really know about the changes they have made recently that I have heard sooooo much about, but i guess that is why i consider myself a Disney fan.

P.S. Hi Disney Expert(Jake) and Dogs Rule!(kyle) This is John btw I was the one at Jake's house.

Well, I am a fan of both. WDW IS my favorite park and I like it a lot more than Universal, but that doesn't mean I hate Universal. I enjoy Universal as well, and I'm just defending it from comments from Disney Fanboys. I like Disney World the best, but I'm a fan of almost every park I visit, rather than just saying "This place sucks compared to Disney. Disney can do no wrong." I usually don't like to say negative things about Disney, but when I have to make a point, I will.

The Hulk ripping your head off? What are you talking about? Cammels also spit at little children at WDW, whats the difference? This mentality is the kind I look down on: judging a park you haven't been to; and assuming that Disney does everything better.

I understand how u feel!

That is an inside joke between my and some friends. I would never say that Disney does every thign perfect, like i said i have only been there like 2-3 times. You are right I have never been there but from what I am hearing I dont think I want to go there either. I mean if the best thing they have is a few roller coasters that are launched with tires... then what are the other coasters in that park launched by? I con just here it now... Ok everyone since you are on the most technologically advanced coaster in the world, we have to have an advanced launching system too... on the count of three everyone get out and push.
